The Big (Currently) Unoticed Thing In Books 4-6 (Mistborn Spoilers)

I wouldn't be surprised at all that the ability to channel is connected with this trick; we know that being able to channel spares pregnant women from morning sickness, for instance, without having anything to do with anyone actually channeling. I just don't see what sort of shocker this would be to be considered of such great importance.

Well, if there was, say, a character in books 4-6, and then again repeatedly through the series, who manages not to sweat when others are...? A secret channeler, under our noses the entire time? Don't see how that would be too important, either, anyway...

On that line, It would be interesting if it turned out if any one of Galad, Gawyn, Matt or Perrin turned out to have the ability to learn how to channel. They are either either related to channelers except Perrin:

Galad is Rand's maternal half-brother and related to Moiraine through house Damodred paternally,

Matt's sister Bodhwin is a fairly powerful Novice (with the spark I believe)

and Gawyn's sister Elayne is one of the most powerful woman channelers in the past thousand years and his mother does have the ability (although absurdly weak) and he is ALSO related to Moiraine through his Damodred father.

None of these 4 have been tested for the ability to channel Saidin, despite 3 of them having very close familial ties to channelers. I'd find it incredibly amusing if it turned out any of them could channel.

Perhaps we will find out who Gaidal Cain was reborn as.  I wouldn't be shocked if Elayne gave birth to one very ugly child.  Yeah the timing isn't perfect, but we know time works differently in the dream world.

someone may have already mentioned this but i'm like 100% sure that gaidal cain is Olver.

SUPER ugly?

constantly being trained in arms by the band?

constantly being trained to be a 'charming' womanizer?

came out of nowhere? (ie world of dreams!?!?) (( yeah yeah i know he comes from 'carhein' and his parents 'died'))

constant hints of him being unable to find a lady in the future ?

heroic adventures with the army?

.... !!!

hi people first time poster here but i just had to point out that one thing i have not seen discussed is that we have only seen one dark friend from the Aiel. We've seen more than one from almost everywhere else but not from that culture. I think that there are more DF Aiel than we have seen. We first see a DF from the Aiel in book 4 and maybe hints from other books. Once we know whats going on we will be like that was obvious. Remember this is RJ here the same guy that said Asmos killer was obvious. I could be wrong but it seems like the DO knows a lot about Rands plans and this could be ONE of the reasons he does. I also like the hat idea. Feel free to rip this to shreds.

Lots of good theories here. Approaching this from a different perspective; this mystery clue seems to be about something that will be resolved in the second to last book. If so, Im tempted to think its linked to the Finns and their Tower. That has to be solved before the last book, hasnt it. In which case Mat's Hat would be one of the good alternatives. Not sure what other distinct events there are which could be resolved in the next book?

Im very fond of the tinkers song and mystery blood message theories, but Im expecting that to not be revealed until the very end of the last book, involving something about rebuilding the world.

Ah but thats what I'm talking about--before finding the Ebou Dar cache the need takes them to the storeroom of angreal, ter'angreal and sa'angreal in the Tower. They immediately decide that getting into the Tower would be too difficult so they use need again this time specifyng 'not the Tower'.

So my question is what was there in the Tower storeroom that could have been used to tie the Salidar Aes Sedai to Rand? Whatever the answer is (and I doubt it's the ring of Tamyrlin--that gets discussed far to often to fulfil BS' standards) it is my subsequent submission for the 'over-looked' bit which should have raised questions at the time, yet is almost never discussed.

And consider we know this is coming out into the light in ToM, and that Egwene was directly talking of moving everything within that storeroom.

It fulfils all the requirements.

I think this one was disqualified by Peter.  Everything in this thread up to post #138 has been disqualified.  Peter read the thread and told Tamyrlin that we hadn't gotten it yet, though it was said we can't expect future help from him, I think - Brandon has said that he won't tell us either way.

RJ has confirmed that Mat can't channel.

Australia Interview - August 1999

Q:  Back on Mat again. Could you comment on whether or not he may be able to channel?

RJ: Nope. Not a chance. Can't do it. He can get anyone in the world to dance with him just about but he can't channel worth a darn note.

Q:  He's still young enough for it not to show up, right?

RJ: No he's not going to be... He can't channel. But if you approach him the right way he will come to your birthday party on a Harley.

It would force them to get over their channeler phobia entirely. They've already made a good start by declaring in KoD that they'll fight at Tarmon Gai'don alongside the "witches"

And it would be hilariously funny. I've always wondered why Rand let Matt and Perrin get away without being tested for channeling..... It seemed odd.

Perhaps the Ring of Tamyrlin? I have a theory its the third powerful sangreal... Thats the third post that has bought me to this point tonight also...Must stop seeing conspiracies...
The Ring of Tamyrlin was first mentioned in EotW, so too early.
It was mentioned in EotW, but I feel like it was INTRODUCED in Book 4. Mat's Raven ring.
Mat's ring wasn't introduced until book 7. And it is very doubtful that is anything other than a ring, ;et alone the ring of Tamyrlin.

what about that Amyrilin that is constantly being mentioned in the later books and her potentilly being that inn keeper in Ebu Dar.....

both of their names escape me, in fact i know that while Egwene is meeting with one of the Sitters before the 2nd dinner with Eladia she mentions havign to thank that inn keeper for a bit of knowledge/advice.

i'm trying to rack my brain for other things that have constantly been mentioned throughout the books, that people havent really been discussing lately, and that haven't been resolved.

The Inn Keeper, Setalle Anan, was most probably Martine Janata, the Brown who was burned out studying ter'angreal.

Of recent Amyrlin's, Tamra was killed by the Black Ajah, Sierin was killed by the Red (at the prompting of the Black due to her search for Black sisters following Siuan's note), and Marith died of natural causes. Then Siuan was raised.

Well, biggest things I see:

The Cache that Moiraine sent to TV. Where is it?

Mat's Hat. Ter'angreal? Or just a really spiffy hat?

The object in the White Tower that can help(Weather or otherwise). What is it?

Aiel Men who can Channel. Are they still going north to fight the Dark One? Or has Rand put a stop to all that?

Rand's Last Question. Its got to be big, and probably one of the key things. Also, we never did learn what Moiraine's answers were.

Ah...are you quoting the right number? Your own post is only the 107th in this thread.

Are you sure he isn't playing with our heads? We threw everything against the wall but the kitchen sink.

EDIT: Never mind, I thought you were referring to this thread.

I mentioned the fighting in Shara and someone else mentioned Tinkers before Post #138 -- I took Peter's comment to indicate those posts were wrong?

you did that on THIS thread?

if so, damn.  i was rooting for tinkers + bloody message

Oh crap never mind -- I thought he was talking about the thread we are on right now.  Tinkers/Shara still in  :P

You know, BOTH theories could be right.  The Tinkers are one of the few groups allowed to pass through the Aiel Waste.  Maybe they had a message regarding Shara.  "TELL THE DRAGON REBORN ..... that fighting is bad in Shara, looks like a grumpy guy named Dem Andred is going to be victorious, and he's saying the Sharans need to unite and kill the Dragon before he can break the world, and they keep Trollocs as pets now, and will be Traveling here soon".

lol. now THAT is probably exactly what the rest of the message would have said.
