Lord of Chaos Question

Does anyone else feel like they have to hide the cover when they are reading Lord of Chaos?  It looks just like a Harlequin Romance novel with Rands low cut shirt flowing in the wind, revealing a manly chest. My wife makes fun of me mercilessly. Does anyone else feel my pain?

You are completely right. Readin LoC in public makes you feel emasculated and slightly embarrassed. Great book, the cover, not so much.

The Draghkar doesn't even make it any more serious or masculine. Atleast throw some Trollocs or Ogier on it. I dunno. I'm rambling.

The american covers suck ass (Pardon my french). Much prefer the UK ones myself, the black background with the wheel/serpent on it looks awesome. :D

As far as I am aware, the UK covers look very alike.

I think I like the variety that the US covers offer.

I agree.  I really don't mind the US covers.  I like to see what other people (I guess what the artist) thinks the characters look like.  They are a bit off, but it's still better than just plain covers with no pictures.

Had not heard of Harlequin before.  Searched Barnes & Noble, also Wikipedia.

Is that them?

Anyone know Harlequin's full name?

Harlequin is just the cheap romance novels.  I followed your link, and that is the company that publishes them.  They are by all sorts of different authors.  You can usually find them at used book stores for 10 cents.

Lan looks like that Klingon fella' "Worf" and the rest of the characters depicted in the US covers look like they are borrowed from "Falcon Crest" or "Dallas" or "Dr Who".

This might date me, but when I was a kid, there was a Saturday morning cartoon I loved called Mighty Max.

One of Max's buddies was a Fowl named Virgil.

The other was a Norseman named Norman.

Look here and tell me this isn't Lan, albeit with some obviously cartoonish musculature. Certainly, this image, and Norman's steady deep voice, are what I see and hear when I read Lan.

He's even got a flaming hadori!

Haha! I loved that show!

And yes, Norman is a cartoonish version of Lan. can't believe I never thought of it.

No. But then, I have the British cover.
