Well as a Mississippian and a fellow Southern Miss Alum I was kinda pulling for the Vikes because Brett Favre is my guy....met him twice when I was on campus there, great guy.  But hopefully they can get lucky and the Eagles will lose so they can secure the #2 seed and get a bye, but my Saints clinched #1 so i'm ecstatic about that.  Not Favre's fault at all since he had another Monday Night Miracle game.  Adrian Peterson needs to learn how to carry a damn football.

dunno if they did or not.  but i think its a good idea to rest the starters, especially if you don't get the 1st week bye in the playoffs.  and especially if your on a losing streak (not the the colts were)

like the guys were saying on the radio this morning, a 17-0 season means nothing i you don't win the Superbowl.  so yeah an undefeated season is nice, but a Superbowl win is even nicer.  and i mean this for both teams :)

i want Manning to get higher scores than Brees and no interceptions (like more passing yards and such) but i want the saints to win the superbowl by a field goal.

To think the bears could have had a Gary Anderson game there for a minute or two.

Now we replace that with Adrian Peterson. Bastard! :P

Biggest Surprises of the Year

Titans - For two reasons.  First because they sucked so bad at the start of the year after such a fantastic season last year.  Second, Vince Young.  His turn around is amazing.  While he has yet to become a spectacular QB I think he well on the way, and is far exceeding what I thought he would ever do.

Texans - They're on pace for their first winning season ever and their first playoff birth (I'll probably put my foot in my mouth on that later).  After being so close to getting it right, they've finally got all the pieces.  The controversial Mario Williams pick has paid off nicely, seeing as how they would have still been struggling had they drafted Vince young instead.

Biggest Disappointments

Panthers - What the hell guys?  No reason Jake should have been the starter after week 5.  If they had put Matt Moore in then, given the way he has played so far, they may be on the way to the playoffs right now.

Giants/Broncos - Same reason momentous collapses.  It has cost the Giants a Playoff spot, and may very well cost the Broncos their spot.

No undefeated teams - With New Orleans and Indy Both going 13-0, surely one of them, if not both, would run the table right? Nope.  The Saints are sputtering and Indy is being over protective.  Apparently Coach Caldwell thinks he has a squad of pansy ballerinas.

Those are my main Surprises/Disappointment.

Saints finally have their starting secondary back, and should have Shanle and Fujita back for the playoffs.  Hargrove has really come on since having to step in as the main middle man with both starters Clancy and Ellis out and I dunno if Ellis will be back for the playoffs but I hope so, even if not, Saints should be able to dial up more blitzes since Greer and Porter are back and healthy at the Corner Positions.  Lots of people don't understand that the reason the defense went from great to terrible was the absence of these two guys which made the Saints have to drop more guys in coverage instead of generating pass rushes and stacking the box for the run.

My boys took out the Saints.. I know that Brees wasn't playing and a lot of their starters sat later on but still... We got back to 8-8.  Moore had another good game... hopefully that is the nail in the coffin of Jake Delhomme.

Props to my boy Chris Johnson on reaching 2006 rushing yards this year. He accomplished that even after only getting 450 (or so) yards in the first 6 games. He also beat Marshall Faulk's record for yards from scrimmage.

I think the tandem of Vince Young and Chris Johnson will be a major force in the years to come for the Titans.

We still beat the Saints.  I will take it.

Man, I froze my ass off at that game last night, and stayed to the end.  But it was worth it!

The question is, can yall do it again next week?  ;)

Oh, hell yes.  They played 10 offensive starters in the first half (they were missing only Benson) and were down 27-0 with 0 passing yards and 7 total yards.  Benson won't change the fact that our D will eat them alive at the line of scrimmage and that Revis can stifle their passing game (since it's almost all Ocho).

BTW, love this picture someone at Jetsinsider whipped up:
