Truly a wifom situation.   Has anyone seen someone do this before?  Is there in way this can be tested?

I have never saw it before, but the only way to test it is, either a lie detector or the information we get from his lynch.

Ok, well you have to hope there is one in the game (lie detector) but then anyone claiming that could be a scum buddy.  Which at that point probably wouldnt be bad cause you could lynch one to test the other.

 

So, the choices really come down to lynching him today and hoping he is scum or letting him live and watch how he plays and hope he is actually innocent.

 

If option 2 is selected then we need to figure out the likely # of scum in the game and once we are down to what we believe is the last one then we have to lynch him just in case.  Well, only if we arent in a lynch or lose scenario.  If that happens then the WIFOM becomes huge.

 

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I'm on vacation until Wednesday, and will only be able to check in in the evenings for the next couple of days, when we're in the motel. But, by Thursday I'll be up to my usual level of spam posting.

It's the optimum play with the miller role. A better play than lynching me right now would be to keep me around until endgame. If we've lynched lots of scum and the game still hasn't ended, then would be the proper time to lynch me.

 

If I do get lynched, look at the people who are quick to jump on my wagon. Nae, for one, should know better.  :)

I have to agree, I'm not sure why you revealed early. Though it is slightly better, I think than coming out with this just before you are going to be lynched, because I think you would be lynched anyway.

 

He may well be mafia, he maybe telling the truth. I'm not ready to vote just yet!

It is self-preservation because the 2 of us had 300% more votes than the next person. Now you have more votes than I have ;D

 

It is stupid because it makes it very easy for mafia to claim "I am also an innocent who always appears quilty on being searched".

 

It is unnecessary because it makes no sense at all to claim that kind of a role that early. The only 'reason' to reveal it would have been after you have been searched.

And you still haven't explained how it makes no sense to claim miller so early. It avoids a good deal of bother when I've been viewed, for one thing.

 

I have no fear of being lynched. If the town views me as a distraction, fair enough, and I'll go quietly, because I win with them. However, right now, I think that it's worth trying to scum-hunt for all I'm worth.

"The Cosmic Panda Miller Reveal" sounds like a jazz folk music fusion band but feels like a set up.  

 

Reveal immediately as the Miller and suggest to be kept around to end game?  So here is how I smell it:

 

1. Scum trying to be very clever and hoping we bobble the wiform.

 

2. He is the miller and may or may have other value to the town.  

 

Other than a townie that turns up scum on investigation or death, is it common for the Miller to have a power role on top of their alignment role?

 

I need to ponder the panda while enjoying breakfast delicious.

Did you read all of the text? Read this bit again:

 

Sometimes an important part of a Miller role is that the player is not told this aspect of their role. Rather the Moderator assigns one person to be the Miller, but only tells him/her that the role is a vanilla townie. Thus, the Miller cannot simply claim their role Day 1 as a prevention against lynching.

 

I've claimed day 1, in order to prevent the town possibly wasting a lynch later on.

The miller role (if Pandy is telling the truth) gives us slightly better odds at lynching scum. Makes no real difference to me he revealed because if you think about it its a pretty weak role to reveal starting out the game. The only real Question Thorum, is if hes telling the truth or not and if you really think about it he has just as much chance at being scum as you, I, or anyone else at this point, but Im leaning towards innocent.You sure seem to want him dead quickly but your giving your reasons Nae on the other hand has offered no reason.

Not sure I would have revealed Miller on Day 1, but I can understand why Pandy did it, if in fact he is a Miller.

 

This does cause a problem, as previously mentioned.  Only a lie detector or a coroner report will straighten this out.
