Setting: Mr. Amit’s Bookshop in Yarn, a small town of Stem, one of eleven islands that make up the Grape Isles

Time: 11:14 AM (Standard Fiddlesticks Time) – Year of 2009

Mr. Donim Amit had just finished with his latest customer of the day.  The woman had purchased a few children’s books, full of moral lessons, and pictures.  Amit smiled to himself.  He had a kind smile, one that kept the children coming back for his stories.  He had a knack for storytelling.  His smile would no doubt lead him to being a victim of a lynch-happy mob in no time.

His hair was silver and wispy, hanging down to his shoulders in a wild fashion.  His chin was covered in small prickly stubble.  It never grew, and he never bothered shaving it off.  His eyes were ice blue and held a twinkle that reflected his inner joy of life and knowledge.  His clothes hung loose around his small, spindly frame.  He sported a small faded scar above his left eye, and his left arm ended in a stump at his elbow.  He still felt an itch where his left hand should be, but he had learned to ignore it.

A small jingle alerted him of new arrivals in his shop.  He would have began smiling, if he hadn’t been already.  Still, he deepened the smile.  And it deepened further when he saw that his customers were a group of five children.  They had frequented his shop often.  Always wanting to hear a story.  Amit gauged their ages to be between nine and twelve.  Such a spontaneous and curious age group.

“Hello, Mister Amit.” The eldest, a girl, said.  The others echoed her.  Amit couldn’t make his smile any deeper, but he tried.

“And what brings you scoundrels to my shop this day?” Amit asked, knowing fully well the answer.

“We want to hear a story!” the youngest, a boy, burst out before anyone else could speak.  They all shoved him about, telling him to “shush”.  “Well, we are.” The boy protested.

“A story, you say?” Amit had thus far, dismissed their request, fearing them too young for his stories.  He shook his head.  They were still too young, yet.

“Please!” the eldest girl pleaded.  Amit broke.

Sighing, he nodded.  “Very well.  But I warn you, my stories are full of life, love, betrayal, savage bloodthirsty lust, and many of them do not end happily.”  The five smiled to each other, hoping for nothing less.  It gets to them  younger and younger every year. Amit thought to himself sadly.

He turned to one of his many bookshelves, scanning the titles, trying to find one he thought might satisfy them.  His eyes landed on a small, dusty, battered book.  It was old, older than Amit himself, which was saying something.  Frowning for the first time that day, he pulled it out, brushing dust off the leather cover with his stump arm.  The gold lettering was faded, barely visible, but he didn’t need to read them to know the story behind them.

He found his way back to the children.  They had all found chairs to sit in, and the waited expectantly.  He sat himself down in the chair they had laid out for him.  Sitting the book in his lap he looked at the children, the smile had not returned.  “This story is believed to be false, a myth, due to the fact that the powers within this book can no longer be found in this world.  However, know this, if anything: this is a true story.” He felt the itch in his nonexistent left hand grow stronger.  “This is history.  It is what really happened.  Do you understand this?”

They all nodded dumbly, obviously not understanding.

“Very well.  This takes place in Lavender City, the capitol of 8.  It begins, as it should, after a battle of inhuman proportions.”  Amit flipped open the book to the first page.

Setting: Lavender City, capitol of 8, one of eleven islands that make up the Grape Isles

Time: 5:51 AM (Standard Fiddlesticks Time) - Year of 1909

A large battle had taken place.  That much is certain.  A convergence of Superheroes and Supervillains.  An explosion had happened…a bright light…and you awoke amid the destruction.  Bodies lay everywhere.  You see some that you think you should recognize, but the memories slip away like smoke.  You stumble across the broken ground, your suit is torn to shreds; the blood from your open wounds has long since dried.

You eventually see others moving aimlessly just as you are.  They look much like you do – torn, beaten, and ignorant of what had transpired.  They look at you blankly, a reflection of yourself.

Your vision goes red.  You collapse on the ground, hands grasping your head as your minds eye is filled with visions of yourself.  Visions of others.  Battles…THE battle!

When it is over, you remember who you are.  You remember everything.  Almost…everything.  You see those you had called allies and those you had called enemy mixed in the litter of corpses.  All of them!  All of your allies that you can remember are there.  Dead.

You glance over the wreckage and spot something you hadn’t before.  Another group of people.  They were looking over at you in awe.  They were much cleaner than you and the others.  They wore normal attire.  You know them to be innocent by-standers, now spectators.

You look back to the others.  They seem to have gone through the same…awakening as you did.  Something tells you that some of these unknown faces are your allies, but you do not recognize them.  Your anger fuels your desire for justice.  Right now, all that matters to you is that within that group are the ones responsible for this catastrophe.  For the deaths of your friends.  Supervillains are in the ranks.  That’s all that matters…

_______________________________________

The villains congratulated themselves silently.  They were able to mimic the reactions of the Heroes without fault.  They each knew that the Heroes would not recognize them.  It had been a mind attack.  And well executed.

It was time to have a little fun with the Heroes who had caused them so much grief over the years.

Poor guy, lol.  Thorum, you should put that quote from Barm (was it him?) back in your siggy about how you always get lynched on Day 1.

That wasn't it. It was about me always acting exactly the same, even though some often consider it "evil". One of those things is that I ALWAYS have my vote on someone. It's a quote that's probably 2 or 3 years old, so I have no idea where to find it anymore :(

The quote is only gone for a month or two, and you've already forgotten it :(. Though I must admit it doesn't look good, having 3 votes on you on day 1. I don't believe none of them is trying to set me up as a super-early bandwagon.

Can I vote for both Crusher and Smash at the same time?  It should be an exception, just because they are Jets fans.  I mean c'mon, this should be a rule or something.  Just sayin'....

Buuut, considering I'm so happy the Dolphins won (and the Jets lost), I won't vote for you guys.  See how nice I am?  I'm nice.

Soooo.......[glow=red,2,300]Thorum[/glow].

I'm here!

I remember that quote Thorum.  Something about you always looking scummy no matter what, wasn't it?  Or, everything Thorum says looks scummy.  Something like that. :D
