I tried to read that game but I got bored right away.  Looks like the town is off to a good start though.

Good - you won't be able to play it here if you know the setup.

Each mod can decide whether hammer votes are final, but I tend to avoid games where they are not, From a mafia player's perspective, a lot of effort is put into getting that vote where you want it. Having it slide away because people are bored kind of defeats the purpose of playing imo.

Agreed.  The only time I'll allow unvoting after a hammer is if the hammer vote comes at a time when I can't be on for a day or more - i.e. on shabbos or a religious holiday.  I don't want the game to be stuck in neutral waiting for my holiday to end, so I'll allow play to continue at those times only.  Otherwise, if the hammer falls, it falls.

I ended up skimming it and reading the scum QT so I probably know too much.

It was just frustrating at first reading all that volume when I had no clue who was who and kept confusing some of the alts.  I got used to it though.  Looks like a kickass setup.

Not knowing what my players are doing behind my back...lol

It has been fun, hasn't it? I'll run this same setup with a different location and a few more players (maybe 20ish) not too far in the future. Maybe we can get some of the truly evil ones next time. Can you imagine Kivam in this one? Or DPR? Mwahahahaha!

Oh, and Verby gets a bunch of credit for helping me with the setup. I'll tell you after the game which parts were his so you can string him up thank him.  ;) One reason why I wanted to learn how to balance the game myself is so he can play next time, if he wants.

String me up?  I think I like where this is going.... ;D

But really, all I did was provide another set of eyes and some random comments/thoughts.  Lily gets 100% credit for the awesomeness of the game.  ;)

Note how he totally deflects responsibility for this? That's a scum move, hon.

Wombat, if you think it was hard to read, imagine PLAYING in it! I still don't know who was who. And considering how I felt about some of them at the time, I'm leaving it that way.  ;) We seriously need new alts over there that don't all look alike and have Italian names. lol Cute concept, but not very playable. Just my opinion...

Inactive modding is the worst - and RL can happen to anyone, but either make an announcement or put the game on a time-out. Don't just leave the players hanging.

Modkills should be used sparingly. If a non-active is bringing the game down, replacement is the best option.

As for tactics, lurking is a legitimate playstyle. It is up to others to call you out on this, not the mod.

I do think that too many games lessens thequality of play, but that is just an opinion, and I do support the idea of games played anywhere, anytime. It's up to each player to keep themselves from being overloaded.

Yes yes yes to the bold! Just because I"m not posting A GAZILLION TIMES A DAY. Does not mean that I'm not playing, involved or anything like that. I don't like spamming and I don't like saying something that's not really saying anything just to "look" like I'm active so people don't jump on me for it. I post when I feel I have something to say.

I think lots of people do big games because it's fun to set up lots of roles and play with dynamics and such. It's much harder to do that with a smaller group.

Seconded to that, Lia ;D There is a difference between using lurking as a playstyle and simple being inactive, of course, and I wish people would realize that more than just accuse everyone of being inactive. You don't post a lot, but having seen you on QTs, I know you aren't inactive. People comment a lot on me being quiet on Day 1, but that's because I'm really not into spamming (I'm very Brown in that way lol), so if there's nothing of susbstance going on, I'm not going to contribute to the spam.

Honestly I usually check my Mafia games like 3 times a day and refresh quite a bit >.>

Especially for big games, like we don't have enough to read already without your 3 pages of spam? Yes, it can be used to distract, but be real careful, most times I just want to lynch spammers *nods*

I know but like I said, it makes me want to lynch/nk. And I understand that people may want to lynch or nk but they should have better reasons then the fact I didn't post twenty times that day and only posted once.

Having played on Jetnation.. and am currently... I now feel for you people that I griped at for being inactive lurkers. >.<  They call ME an inactive lurker over there.. can you imagine?!?  Lol!!  I worked a 4 hour shift.. checking the game JUST before walking out the door.. and there were 15 pages when I came back!!!!!!!  And about halfway thru that people were starting to ask where I was.  Jeez.. I was only gone like 5 hours tops!

LMAO - that's why I only play 1 game if I'm in one there.  Nothing here - just don't have the time or inclination for it.  But I love those guys, so I'll definitely be playing games over there....just not all the time, lol.
