But if you were mafia, you would know who the other mafia is, and if he isn't then your directing away from the real mafia which could be clouded as a random lynch.

That is pretty much a given "IF" in any game and could be applied to any given first vote on the first day.

Just surprised at how quick you were too vote, although i admire the aggressive approach.

5 pages in for the first vote is actually pretty slow compared to most games.  Usually one of the first few players throw up a random vote.

pressed wrong button :D

.....be interesting ;D

Don't forget, this is probably the only game where the MOD actually allows you to edit your posts.  ;D  Very strange allowance I'd say..but feel free to use it.  Although be prepared to be attacked for it. ;)

Well, yeah, I figured that being attacked for editing posts would be punishment enough.

So, basically, if I understand this correctly, a lynch on Day 1 is nearly guaranteed to reduce the innocents by one member. It's not likely to hit a mafioso. How many mafia are there likely to be in this game? Three, maybe? Lynching an experienced player is just as likely to hurt us as help us, maybe more so. Maybe I don't like that idea anymore.

Panda said that if we don't reach a majority, the player with the highest votes is getting lynched. What if nobody votes for anybody? It's a thought. Of course, the mafia will undoubtedly do a nightkill, and we will definitely be down a player on the townie side. That's probably not good either.

So, our most likely outcome, if we lynch, is that we will be down two players. But, we might get a mafia member. Maybe it's worth it.

Oh, my head is beginning to hurt. What do you all think? I think we should go for a lynch, but who?

You have summed up the possibilities pretty well.  I'd only add that players can vote "no lynch" to a majority as well to avoid a lynch.

I'd recommend against it though.  The #'s of innocents in the game gives town the advantage.  Town is successful on the first night no matter if a mafia or townee is lynched.  With a mafia the gain is obvious..one less scum to hunt.  With a town lynch you have the voting records of those who lynched him/her.  Vote positioning comes into play here as well.  Once a few lynches go through and you add up who voted for who (or didn't vote) you can start filling in the blanks spots on who is what alignment.  Without a day 1 lynch you are basically giving the mafia a free kill without any information on the voters.  That means Day 2 starts and we are short one townee with the exact same info we had day 1.  We may as well have started with one less townee.  The scum like this scenario very much.

I am here, my computer broke, and the people at the mac store wanted ninety dolors an hour, so I decided to fix it myself.

Glad you could join us, Dragon. And it's awesome that you were able to fix your own computer.

Peace, you make a lot of sense. I'm trying to find holes in your logic that could indicate that you're mafia, but I honestly can't see why the mafia wouldn't discourage a lynch. Which means absolutely nothing, of course.  ;D All of the experienced players would likely give the same advice, and if you didn't, you'd be tying the noose around your neck.

Back to square one..... *sigh*

I'm gonna throw this one out there, but [glow=red,2,300]APTL[/glow] threw out the idea of an experienced player being mafia. Sounds to me like throwing suspicion off of himself. Probably jumping at shadows here, but gotta start somewhere.

Vote Count!

Dae (1) Peace

APTL (1) LZM

Not Voting: Dae, DS, APTL, Meesh, Green Shirt, Rose, Midori, Talya, Lily

I'm trying a new format with votecounts. By quoting the last one, you should be able to more easily track changes in the votecounts by simply clicking the link.

sorry - just got home from work. 6 pages, people? and  most of that discussing (from what I gathered) about which of the experienced players would be a goot mafia player. Sheesh. *sigh*

I think there are  few here who could be classed as playing a few games. We used to have it that if you had played in more than three you were an experienced player.

Anyway, at the end of the day we will have to lynch someone. I think I will try to have a reread incase someone jumps out at me...do it too suddenly and I may scream!

I think Talya is mafia because, I think she is in every game.

Just trying to start somewhere, and see what people say, no point playing if your not going to express any views is there, otherwise it would be dull :D

Oh dragon, how could you...I'm never evil... >.>

well there was one game, oh and that other one :D

but dragon is a good player, I think aptl is pretty good, despite only having played it a ocuple of times. I think some people have a knack to the game.

I don't have a clue who mafia is, but Talya and Dsworn are very dangerous players. I would suggest lynching one of them.

I agree with you, Rose, but I feel bad for Talya. She often gets killed the first day, so I'm going with

After all, he won his last game, and she was nk'ed on the first night of her last game.

I am flattered, MN, I think I have been getting the hang of this game.  :-*

That game was won with my team mate. We played a good game together, and I had to use some underhanded tactics. But that is mafia.

Roles are handed out at random, saying the mafia is only experienced players turns the town blind to the option it could be a newbie player. So don't justify a vote on experience, because an experienced player can help the town to.

Its not mafia lurking its just plain lurking. I'm not good at spamming so if I have nothing worth saying I don't say anything. Things worth saying being things related to lynching people or other topics that further the game.

Hi guys, just checking in.  I'm on my cell phone for now, but I will be able to get on a computer tonight for a little bit.  I'll also be scarce for the next week or so because of D*Con.
