BS's "April Deadline" progress bar

Recommended Posts

Harriet is the Editor for book 12 (as she has been for all the books) Sanderson is incorporating her edits and making suggested changes. There is an April deadline to finish the edits on the first 435k of work that he has written (it seems likely that in April- likely in connection with Jordancon, Harriet and Tor will announce that the first half of AMOL (The 435k of work already completed) will be published in November. Sanderson now estimates that the entire job will take at least a total of 750k of work. Since the ending was pretty much finished by RJ before his death it seems possible that the second half might actually be finished in time to be published soon after (a month or two) the first half.

Here's the latest update from BS's blog:

Now, if you read the penultimate paragraph, there's advanced warning of some sort of announcement coming up in the next "several weeks":

As I've warned, also, keep an eye on Dragonmount and Tor.com for official announcements related to the Wheel of Time. I'd guess that something will pop up in the next several weeks.

Smells like an announcement in early-mid April....

Splitting the book/firmer dates?

Happy days.

Time to start timing my reread.... when to start, when to start?!  :-\

I have a horrible vision of starting at a sedate pace, ending up flying through it all, and sitting on my arse for 4 months wishing I gone slowly.

I recently picked them up again.  Just started TGH.  I attempted an audit book for TEotW.  Didn't really care for it as much as reading at my own pace.  I always imagined different voices than the ones used by the male narrator.

However, I think Patrick Rothfuss' 2nd book "The Wise Man's Fear" is due to be released in April!

This page talks some about the progress bars::

Re-reading this series I think I would start after I have read Memory of Light (at least first part if it is split into volumes); starting with the prequels.

If there is something I forgot in another book, I would glance through the applicable book.

It isn't. According to his own blog:
Whatever release date you've heard for book two is simply untrue. There is no release date because the book isn't finished yet. I'm working on it right now...You see, even if I finished the book today and it was perfect, it couldn't be on the shelves by April.

You could try doing what I do. I only let myself read WoT while at the gym on either the stationary bike or the elliptical machine. No pedaling = no WoT. With the resistance cranked up as high as I can stand it, my body limits me to half an hour or an hour of reading at a time. Even so, I've worried I won't be able to string out the re-read until AMoL is published in (hopefully) November since I've developed an unfortunate tendency to do two-a-days.  :-\

Yeah, I started my GRR just before DragonCon, thinking that, based on my usual work schedule and general inabiliuty to fit in reading time, that I'd need the full year. Silly me. I always forget how obsessed I become with this story. I finished in December, I think.

Damned bummer.  Something I was looking forward to.  Must be some serious re-writing, etc as I think I've read that this whole story of Kvothe was / is one of PR's first works, but it was so long, he's been busy breaking it down in to a trilogy.
