i was just thinking about the battle between moggy and nynaeve. it would be really boring if you weren't an aes sedai seeing that. i mean really. two women staring at each other and focussing really hard on one another. if i was a joe randlander and happened to walk in on that, i'd be like ummmmmmmmm ok. i guess all battles can't be exciting.

This would be true, but then, I would get a bucket of popcorn or something and sit there watching...waiting to see how long it would take for one of them to slap the other really hard...and then I would help the one who was being slapped...because chivalry is not dead (Its just on life support with a feeding tube, and a heart-lung thinggy) and then most like slap myself when I find out that I just got between a Aes Sedai from the Age of Legends and Nynaeve, because the latter scares me and the first one would make me want to make a really bad "Man your not bad looking for being what over a thousand"...but I digress and am ranting

The battle between Moghedien and Nynaeve in Tanchico takes place near the end of The Shadow Rising. In Lord of Chaos they go from Salidar to Ebou Dar in search of the Bowl of Winds.

 

As for the battle itself. If I had been Nynaeve I would have ran and tackled Moghedien, or thrown one of the museum artifacts at her to distract her. Though it does really saw that all her energy and thought is going into defending herself from Mog's expert weaves.

my bad, it was ebou dar. i knew it was on the coast somewhere. i just think like in general if you were some merchant or something living in caemlyn and all of this stuff was going on around you, such as the dragon being reborn and invaders coming from across the aryth ocean, i'd just go and hide in a corner somewhere and prepare for the worst.

i think i'd try to be the annoying person who would just get on both of their nerves, but they couldn't do anything about it, unless moggy like ripped off my skin or something of that nature.

I probably wouldn't have cared who they were, if I was in that area it was for a reason and I'd just end up walking between the two. Let them stare at each other, I've business to be about!

In fact that's nearly the exact thought from Nynaeve's POV.  The battle is in Tanchico and is not the one where she captures Moggy.  That one comes later.

Tanchico, in TSR, is the fight you refer to, although Moghedien escapes at the end. Moghedien is captured in TFoH, in T'a'r. She is a captive throughout LoC.

No, it was Tanchico. Ebou Dar, in ACoS, is where Moghedien balefires Nynaeve's boat, leaving her to drown, leading to her breaking her block.

Tanchico battle, like others told, was in Shadow Rising; Chapter 54.

The capture, like another told, was in Fires of Heaven; Chapter 54.  That was in Telaranrhiod.

The Ebou Dar situation between them, that was Crown of Swords Chapter 31.

Not sure what's boring about two women toe to toe over a set of handcuff's with connected bracelets - one dresseed in a maid's uniform, one in a black streith dress <or something like that>, sweating, etc.  However, if that didn't get your attention, I think the moment the Black Sisder showed up (not sure which one) and started shooting her balefire ter'angreal, vaporizing marble columns and pieces of wall,  would likely grab your immediate attention!

Nyn captures Moggy in air and  cut her off from the source. how did Moggy escape?

Nyn shields her and ties the shield off. A tied off shield can be broken, especially by someone strong and experienced.

Never thought about it that way. That would definitely keep my attention, lol.

They weren't toe to toe, they were standing a bit apart, weren't they? When you see two women just staring at each other and sweating in an area where it's very hot.. you just think it's two people who don't like each other. Of course, somebody might sit down with a bag of popcorn to wait for the excitement to start, that is, if they didn't think one of the two ladies would turn on him for watching after the whole thing was over.

I just think of some poor wilder who happens to walk by when Nynaeve and Moghedien weave those giant axes of Spirit and throw them at one another.  Yikes!!!
