Seriously, anyone want to play Oh Heck?  I have a deck of cards and I'll deal and PM you your hand.  I suppose knowing what everyone has would give me a small advantage, though . . .

What are we playing?  I vote Oh Heck

*coughs*

*wishes she had thought of that before she started dealing*

Actually, I only know how to play beggar-my-neighbour or rummy :P

The rules of Oh Heck:

Basic Rules:

Objective: Each player tries to win the exact number of tricks he bid.

Players: Up to seven can play. Each player is for himself.

Cards: A standard deck of 52. In each suit, the cards rank: A (high), K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.

Game: The game consists of 14 deals. The players receive seven cards in the first deal, six cards in the second deal, and so on down to one.  On the eighth deal the players get one card each, on the ninth they get two cards each, and so on back up to 7.

Deal: The deal rotates clockwise. The cards are dealt one at a time clockwise, until the number due per hand that deal are dealt. The dealer turns the next card of the pack face-up on the table. This turn-up fixes the trump suit for that deal. The rest of the pack is dead for that deal.

Bidding: The player to the left of the dealer bids first and the bids continue counterclockwise with the dealer as the last to bid. Each player in turn must make a bid, there is no pass. Each player bids the number of tricks that he plans to win. A player may bid zero if he desires. The largest possible bid is limited by the number of cards in the hands that deal. The total number of bids cannot equal the total number of tricks in the hand, so the dealer's bid is limited by the bids of the rest of the players (for example, if on the six hand, the other players have bid a total of 5 tricks, the dealer may not bid 1; if they have bid 6, the dealer must bid at least 1)

Play: The dealer makes the opening lead. The hands are played out in tricks. Players must follow the suit led. If unable to follow suit, any card may be played. A trick is won by the highest trump card played on it; if no trump are played, the highest card of the suit led wins. The winner of a trick leads the next. Each player must keep his tricks segregated so that any other player may easily see how many they have taken.

Scoring: A player does not fulfill his bid by winning more tricks than he bid. To score, he must win the exact number he bid. He busts if he takes more or less.

Players who make their bid score the 10 points plus the square of their bid (so a bid of zero is worth 10points, 1 is worth 11, 2 is 14 and so on).

Players who bust lose the square of the amount they missed by (so if you bid 1 and get two, you subtract 1 from your score; if you bid two and get none, you subtract 4)

At the end of the game, the player with the highest score wins.

oh, i dont think we call that heck, but ive played it ..well something close, you only chose the trump with the card being turened over on the first 7 hand, and then after that the winner of the previous hand choses it. and if you get no tricks you have to play 'blind' (with your cards face down so you cant see what you have, and if you get no tricks that time the next round you will have a single card but you can play it when ever you like, and if you get none then then you will be out of the game. and the winer is the person who wins when you get down to one card.
