*looks around* Yay! I wanted to beat my love to it....

Barmacral and I have been planning a game together for a while, but here recently BCXanth has stolen!! our theme (or part of it), so we have rearranged some things and are ready to roll out the sign up thread.

Alright, so everyone knows the general story of the American Civil War. *shrugs* I am twisting that. The mafia is not going to be slavers, but the Abolitionists. They are coming to burn your towns, steal your slaves, murder the good folk, demolish your plantations, and abscond with every penny you have made... They are out to ruin your way of life!! *dead pans* and possibly more. They want to fully irradicate everyone who even thought slavery might be ok!

The idea for the game is based on the true feelings of Southerners in the Deep South in those times leading up to the Civil War. A period of drought and manipulation lead many in the area to believe that the abolitionists were out to get them. Whole towns were burning, murder plots were "exposed", the whole country was torn as to what to do about slavery. Stephen Douglas had smashed the Missouri Compromise, and Kansas was divided. Brother was pitted against brother. Do I fight for honor? pride? where I come from? Do I fight for what is right? Vigilante justice was out in force, led by the Committees of Vigilance. And that's where we step in.

Well, I suck at descriptions, so that's where I will leave the show to Barmacral.

We have some new and devious roles plotted for you guys. We have some changed up old roles. We hope we have a balanced game. Let us know if you have any questions.

Reveals will be role and alignment. Innocents are with the Committee of Vigilance and Mafia are with the Abolitionists.

ATTN ALL PLAYERS: players must post at least once per game day. the post must contain game content rather than just something about how they are sorry they can't be around or spam.  barring emergencies, loa's must be posted in advance.

Understand that we are striving for good old-fashioned participation. We don't want alot of dead weight clogging up the game. If you aren't able to play, please don't sign up. If we have already started, please let us know that you can't be there- in pm and on thread. LOA's lasting more than 2 game days- We will strive to replace you for the sake of your team. If we cannot find a replacement, you will be mod-killed.

That said: Let's get this show on the road! No, that can't be right... Let's get this cattle to auction?... Maybe... We'll just have to see what they say about it...

I'm having some connection issues, but that should be cleared up in a couple days. Count me in! :D

Great to have you back :D

Thanks! It's been a while, so I hope nobody laughs too much when I get hammered. (Also I hope this game doesn't require any knowledge of the American Civil War. Like, at all. I know even less about the American Civil War than Americans do about the English Civil War.) :P

I'll be in, as promised.

And Sirayn, good to see you!  Let me be the first to say:  I hope I end up on your side.  :P  The alternative is frightening, as usual.  ;)

I was thinking more Stephen vs Mathilda and Roses

Still reckon Royalists vs Parlimentarians was more of a revolt... that kinda went on for a while

most of the others are too little to count (mostly just ending up being disaffected nobles vs King)

Stephen/Mathilda and Roses were the important ones with more than one person claiming the crown  :P (and actually having a chance to hold onto it)

The showdown between Charles "divine right of kings" Stuart and the Houses of Parliament was by far the most important politically and constitutionally. If there had never been an English Civil War, a Glorious Revolution or a 1688 Bill of Rights, we'd all be taking our orders from Elizabeth II right now. ;)

Sirayn, a law student :D
