Casting for the WOT series Movie

    I searched the posts and couldn't find one like what I would like to see. If there was one please let me know and I apologize from taking someone else's thread.

 

    I would like to see your thoughts on the ULTIMATE WOT cast. These people can be anyone living or dead such as Adam/Eve to George Bush to your crazy uncle Mike. They don't have to be in movies, they can be anyone. The only thing you need to do is back them up with something. For instance this part of the book reminded me so much of my best friend. Or this person should be cast as Padan Fain because...

 

    If you are talking about a movie star or member of a rock band explain what they were in. For instance Sean Connery (The Rock, James Bond) or Jimmy Page (Guitarist of Led Zeppelin). The movie could be animated, so the cast member doesn't need to look like the character in the book, just his/her voice.

 

    Have fun with it, or be as serious as you like, put yourself in.

Wow, I've never seen Steven Strait before but he is absolutely spot on as my mental image of Mat, i've NEVER seen a good Mat before, but he makes it! I agree with Egwene too.

 

I dont have all of them, I'm quite picky and would be disgusted if the casting didnt quite match my mental images so...

 

Rand - no idea, not to be too obvious about it but likely Brad Pitt in Meet Joe Black, but with dark red hair

Elayne - dont know again. 'Red Gold hair'... tall... poncy... no, don't know

Moiraine - Marion Cotillard. As much as I like my choice of Ziyi Zhang, I can see that there might be some problems with the language. Not that Ziyi Zhang can't speak English, but, I guess the flow of the words would sound more "musical" as RJ describes it, coming from a French accent. Plus I really liked her in "A Good Year". She speaks English quite well actually. She has a best actress Oscar as well, so, she can act.

She's a tie for me with Ziyi Zhang. I just like the dynamic Ziyi Zhang would add to the film. She is so serene, but can be so cold as well. I would choose either of those two for the part.

Don't know if anyone has thought this before, but I know the perfect person to play Rand. Robert Kazinsky, who plays Sean Slater in Eastenders.

 

He looks EXACTLY like Rand. Tall (they would still need to make him taller though) not massively built but not skinny, just about right. Red hair.

 

I even think he would act the part almost perfectly as well, his character in Eastenders is a bit of a psycho on the sly, definietly has Rand qualities when you look for them. He can pull off the arrogance that Rand accumulates. When hes angry he looks almost crazy, so he could pull of the wildness of the mind (I think he could do the scene where Rand strikes at the Seanchan with Callandor pretty well) and I even think he could pull off the way Rand looks dangerous just standing there. I only noticed it the other day.

Padan Fain - D.J. Qualls.  Just look at a photo of DJ and tell me I'm wrong.

 

Semihrage - Angela Bassett.  She could out glare and eagle.  If someone told me AB had been caught torturing someone, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised.

 

Joel Gretsch as Galad.  I'm no expert but have been reliably told that women find him attractive.  He's also got the most graceful golf swing I've seen outside the PGA and that is always associated with Galad

 

I have struggled for a suitable actress for Aviendha but recently came up with Michelle Tractenberg.  Tall, thin, attractive, reddish hair, green eyes.  Not the good girl michelle from that stupid skating movie, the bad girl from "Eurotrip".  That's what I'm talking about.

 

Gwyneth Paltrow as Beralain

 

Halima - Salma Hayek  it's as though RJ was looking at her photo when writing Halima.

I was watching "Kingdon of Heaven" on disc this evening, trying to convince myself it had some merit beyond a well filmed seige scene, and came to a startling conclusion for which I may catch some well deserved flak.

 

As little as I like his acting ability, Orlando Bloom's portrayal of Bailian in that film points to him as a dead ringer for the onscreen "Mat Cauthon"

 

Give him an Ashandari and a Black hat and I think it's there.  I've half a mind to photoshop something and see how it looks.

    Something I was thinking about the other day, is The High Lord Wieramon. I don't think I have seen anyone for him, yet. Now, I have seen some people believe that he may be a forsaken in disguise, but I think he's just a big idiot to piss off Rand from time to time. So, if you cast him, look for someone very devious that can play the idiot, or look for an idiot! I can't come up with one myself.

I have always said that Michelle Pfieffer IS Liandrin. Everything the hair colour, the skin tone, down to the pouty rosebud mouth - there can be no better Liandrin for me.

 

As for the rest of the 'main' characters, for some I just dont know, they would have to be my real perfect vision for me to suggest them, I want them to match the description perfectly, or I will be disappointed;

 

Rand - Brad Pitt, cliche i know but darken his hair in Meet Joe Black and for me, that's Rand.

 

Mat - not sure. My mental image of Mat is quite specific, I dont think the actor exists. He's not 'attractive' in the conventional sense, but he's cheeky, has a winning smile and looks a bit... dangerous.

 

Perrin - again not sure. No matter how many times I read the series I cannot fix a 'Perrin' image in my head.

Nynaeve - well she's tiny, miniscule in fact. Any actress would HAVE to match that or Nynaeve would be completely unbeleivable. I just dont know.
