Padan Fain is dead.

Could the destruction of Shadar Logoth also have killed/reduced Padan Fain.

We have seen not so much as a glimmer from him since the end of WH, before the cleansing and destruction of SL.

It seems like kind of an anti climax to the character but Aram's well deserved death took about a half a paragraph.

Maybe in AMoL we'll be introduced to the shattered husk that was Ordieth but is now all that's left of Padan Fain because the Mordeth part of his soul was annihilated along with SL

If he's not dead, maybe he's just sleeping.

I really doubt that Fain is dead.  I think that the destruction of SL will just serve as one more reason for Fain to hate Rand.  In fact, before it was mostly the Fain part of him that hated Rand, but with the destruction of SL the Mordeth part now has reason to geuninly hate Rand as well.  I believe that that now Fain's hatred for Rand is so great that it will motivate him to persue Rand into the very depths of Shayol Ghul where he will inadvetantly play a piviotal role in defeating the DO.  There seems to be a common theme in Sci-fi of some person who has been tainted by an evil force but ends up playing a pivitol role in defeating evil, eg Ghollum from LOTR and Darth Vader from Star Wars.

Fain is very much alive and kicking.

Week 10 Question: Now that Shadar Logoth is gone, (cool way to get rid of it by the way), has the evil power in Padan Fain/Mordeth/the Ruby Dagger decreased any? Has it driven him even more insane? Or since the next book is called the Knife of Dreams, will all these questions be answered in it?

Robert Jordan Answers: The evil power in Padan Fain has neither decreased nor increased, nor has that in the dagger. The corruption in him was partly caused by the taint on Shadar Logoth, but it didn't constitute a real connection to the city. Remember that it was because he was Padan Fain, the Hound of the Shadow, that he was able to leave Shadar Logoth in his new condition after he merged with/absorbed Mordeth. (By the way, any other artifacts that might be lying around from Shadar Logoth would have the same long-term corrupting effect as the dagger. Fortunately, or unfortunately, any such thing would need to be metal or stone. The wood and fabric had decayed. It wouldn't have been pleasant to get a splinter from, say, a chair from Shadar Logoth.)

Padan Fain will definitely not kill Rand. I wouldnt mind if he killed Perrin though. I will be gutted if Rand doesnt survive one way or another, because of the "To live you must die" thing. Alivia will be involved in that part

Maybe Rand could Shove Fain through the bore just before he seals it - thus leaving them both on the other side to cancel each other out again?    Long shot.

I really hoped to see PF and SH go at it though!

I think Fain will take out an important character most probably a minion of dark one . He would hurt Rand as well but somehow indirectly help Rand by taking out a forsaken / dreadlord . Slayer vs Fain would be interesting as well. 2 non- channelers battle.
