[Game] Assassin's Creed

I bought Assassin's Creed today as an early birthday gift for myself. I've been playing non-stop for hours now, and my eyes are seriously starting to hurt. This is a really fun game. Violent and bloody, but very fun. I love running at random people and jumping at them and then stabbing them in the throat with my knife. It's kinda like GTA gone medieval. The cities are huge and look great, and so far I've only been in a small part of Damascus and Acre. There's just so many things to do.

The story is intriguing, you get to know about the twist that the developers have been talking about right away. Oh, and the graphics are really good too. I went and bought me an HDMI-cable the other day, and the games look so much better even though I only have a 26" TV.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some Templars to kill. ;D

To bad your playing the xbox3suxor version instead of the ps3awesome version. :P

I'm getting my copy this tuesday, not because I have to wait any longer for it, I just ordered it online, and picked cheap-shipping so it'll take an extra week. >_>

I applaud the guy in that picture.

However, my cousin, who's right into the whole HD/Blueray thing was telling me that apparently this game is (sadly) better on the PS3. It was written for Blueray technology, which has much more expansive memory than HD, and as such, when they re-wrote the game for the Sexbox, they actually had to make the game smaller so to fit on the HDDVD. So the PS3 one is more expansive and fleshed out. Or so I'm told.

Of course, this could hopefully be all a lie, but that particular cousin is usually fairly reliable about that sort of stuff.

Umm, If I'm not mistaken, All Xbox360 games are on DVD, HD-DVD atm, is only an Add-on used for Movies, not games. And the DVD player reads/uses something like DVD9. "Something like 9 gig disks but they actually lose like 2 gigs just for protection so its like 7 gigs" Btw, the 9 in dvd9 = 9 layers if i'm not mistaken. :P

1 layer of BD holds 25gigs, and ps2 can read up to 2 layers (50gigs) "Though theres rumors it can go as high as 4 layers, but NOTHING uses even 1 yet."

What your cousin probably meant to say is that all the data for Assassins Creed would not Need to be compressed, that alone can increase 'quality' of said grahpics. (But since its multi-platform, X-box got there hands in it and said, "Nope, 360 = same as ps3 or better, we won't settle for worse" :P

So Vissually Assassins creed should look about the same, If anything where the 360 lacks in textureawesomeness from the quality of the textures on the disk, the ps3 loses for having less 'ram' (which is a kinda/sorta arguement).

ITs like the equivolent of saying the 360 may look fuzzy, but it can see farther, and the ps3 looks crisper but you can't see as far.

THe only real difference is going to be audio, The ps3 supports uncompressed RAW audio, meaning for some pretty damned good audio capabilities.

And Extra Content. (Ie instead of a special edition version with a 2nd disk with a dvd movie thing on it, it could be included as is, on the main version for the ps3 but that won't happen they'llj ust make 2 copies, 1 for regular game, and the other copy would be the special edition version which would have the stuff on the game disk.)

Why are my simpilications when involved with the ps3 turned into a book? :P

On an aside, If the data is compressed on the disk, and similar to that of CAB files, Then the console would need to spend a significant amount of resources unpacking those said files. Now Those said packed files, would be 'easy' to transfer to the console, unpack and get to the game. Where as the ps3 while not needing compression, loses the edge of faster load times out of this. SImply because the data wouldn't need to be compressed, the ps3 doesn't need to 'load' the data to the ps3 unpack it, then work its magic. IT would instead need to transfer the huge data files (Say the difference between a 200 meg file (packed) and a 900 meg file (unpacked)) Meaning it would take longer to transfer off the BD disk to the game to use to work its magic.

But thankfully not all ps3 developers are dumb. PS3's have at 'least' a 20gb hard drive which already caches most game data so the first loads may take a lil while but after it caches they'll load as fast as it takes to go from your hard drive to your ps3 magic machine. :P

(So since I can upgrade my hard drive, and some hard drives are faster then others, you 'can' spec your ps3 to be faster then anyone elses assuming a game uses more then 10gigs of cache. ;)

Ok Hax.  I have read mixed reviews of this and my copy is still at the store.  What do you think of the attack system?  I hear it is punching one button over and over.  Does it get a little old after awhile?  I hear there is little to no replay value.  Give me an honest "whats good" and "whats bad" so I can decide to purchase this.  To be honest, I would have it already if Mass Effect wasn't coming out next week.

I heard that even though you press one button over and over again, combat is still fun, if only because it a constant flow of motion, one guy said 'like a dance'. graphically the animations in the fight are awesome as hell (so I'm told). And the only way you'll hate the combat is if you suck at rhythmic button pushin. :P

I was gonna do the whole what's good and what's bad thing, but this week end didn't treat me well. ^^

Just as I was starting to think that this game is getting easy, these crazy patrols have started roaming the cities. It's freaking hard now. Can't even pickpocket without getting attacked by guards. I love it!

I also stopped using my sword. It's so much cooler fighting people with the dagger. STAB STAB STAB. And I don't find the fighting boring, even though you only press a few buttons. For a while I was thinking "This is easy. I think I could be an assassin in real life." But then the guards started breaking my blocks, so I couldn't do the crazy counter-attacks either. It's a real pain for me, cus I suck at the running-away-and-hiding-thing, so I used to just kill all the guards, but I can't do that anymore.

The thing about trying to hide is that if you don't find a place to hide quickly, you'll have the whole city after you. Happened to me once. I just thought "Screw this!" and left the city.

What I don't like is that the small "missions" are becoming a bit repetative. There should be something else than 'save a citizen' to get the people to back you up. Going around killing bad people is swell, but it gets old. There could also be more variety in the investigation missions. There's only pickpocket, eavesdrop, interrogate and informer. The informer missions are kinda fun sometimes.

That being said, I just love the cities and the buildings. The first time I saw Damascus it was like ...wow. And I spent a while trying to find out how to get on top of a very large cathedral in Acre. 'Twas very nice. I also like how you sometimes bump in to a Templar and he catches you off guard right when you're about to do some spiffy stuff, like pickpocket a thug or assassinate a guard, and all hell breaks lose.

I like how the Templars speak gibberish.  I laugh everytime they start spouting off.  I keep thinking of that Charlie Brown teacher.

I just finished murder 3 and yeah it is getting repetitive.  I killed a beggar for the first time because I was annoyed.  The game didn't like that though.

I use the counter move all the time.  I have it timed pretty well so they rarely break my defenses.

I like running around the rooftops and like sneaking up on the archers that prowl up there.  I also like how when you are climbing people comment "What is wrong with him" or the guards will throw rocks at me to knock me down.  I then take my time killing them for their audacity.

I can't figure out why random guards attack me.  Sometimes I am just running through the city and a guard wants to give me trouble.  I also dislike riding through the kingdom and the parts where you are not an assassin (trying not to spoil here).

Overall this is a great game.  Think Crackdown in the middle ages and you don't have rocket launchers.

I believe the reason some guards will randomly attack you might be based on that whole 'color' system... You know, red, yellow, ect. Unless your saying you got some Gray guards who randomly attack you....

Oh yea, I got the game today.

The beginning concept is very intrigueing.

After you've assassinated some of the top dawgs, the guards will take more notice of you. And you can't kill innocents. Respect the creed, man, the creed! The beggars aren't that annoying, it's the drunks that make me lose it. I'm blending trying not to have a guard notice me, and Mr Drunk comes and shoves me... "ASSASSIN! KILL HIM!" Blargh.

You can do low-profile assassination, which allows you to get away before people notice that someone has died. It's just stabity-stab and walk away like nothing happened. If you return to the scene of the crime however, you'll have to blend with the crowd so the guards don't attack you, because they have been informed of who did it. That's where the drunks come in. When you get pushed it draws attention, and the guards go crazy.
