I haven't personally read the books, but from the way I understand it, they may as well be 50 shades of wheel of time.

My number one complaint I remember to this day was yelling at the screen every week.

WTF do you keep giving up the high ground and jumping at them like you're Xena warrior princess!

Personally I don't see a massive overlap with WoT.

It has some very heavy BDSM, rape and sexual themes throughout the series. It also has some very graphic depictions of violence and gore. It is not those things that soured me on the series it is more his Ayn Rand objectivism themes that bled into the series later that really soured me on the series as well as learning more about Goodkind.

I enjoyed the different magic systems that where present in the series and thought they were explained and followed well.

I don't remember the high ground stuff I think I only managed 3 or4 episodes before quitting.

As an aside I'm fairly sure in melee situations high ground is not the major advantage people seem to think it is.

It was in like every episode that he did anything with a sword. He'd be up high, and He'd jump at a group of enemies with his sword high above his head, and he'd shout to make sure they'd know he's there before jumping. He'd take out one or two of them and then fight the rest with typical sword fighting.

It was the kind of thing that you'd yell at the TV because it was peak Cringe CW. Lol

Myth Busters did a show on that.  They recreated the Obi vs Anakin fight where Obi said he had the high ground.  Their tests showed the high ground didn't make a difference,

I think high ground specifically relates to formations of armies. The extra missile distance and better angle of attack is significant, the effort and momentum involved in charges, the psychological effect...

In a one on one it would seem to my completely amateur eye that the advantages could be easily turned against someone and there is nothing stopping a circling (flanking) maneuver. Being immobile on top of a hill does not seem that much of an advantage in a duel.

So, I was only able to dig up this "trailer" like clip from Legend of the Seeker, and in it, they show like 3 or 4 Clips where he's doing this Jumping overhead attack... and yeah, that shit will get you killed.

Honestly, the Maksim Fight scene in the two rivers against those White Cloaks that were ganging up on Alanna, honestly puts to shame every fight scene in Legend of the Seeker, IMO.

shadiversity did an episode on that.

he concluded that, 1 on 1 with swords, having the high ground is a disadvantage, because the lower guy can strike at your whole body, while you can strike only at his head.

One video I found also pointed out that trying to defend the legs is difficult because your arms lack the leverage and position to defend against an opponent attacking from a lower position.

I'm still not sure about the true power stuff, it could be or maybe it could not be. If so does it mean that the true power is visible to a woman wielding Saidar?

I think it the manner in which the existing story lines are being managed and the extensive additional story lines have taken time and resources away from other areas that is the biggest issue for most people. I don't think I have actually seen anyone advocating for a direct 1 for 1 reproduction of the books from either side of the fence.

I would actually love to see a direct 1 to 1 adaption of the books in the animated style they used for season 1 bonus content.

With AI for film making about to hit mainstream in the next few years - I can see it or something like it, being done.

The only hope is that maybe Netflix will pick it up for a couple of seasons to wrap up the story. It's sad that Amazon has given up after spending so much money.

Some are saying Appletv could be a good fit since they tend to let shows go outside the new 8 episode standard.

Apple also seems to have a pretty good production standard.  Not every show I’ve seen on Apple has been my cup of tea but it was obvious that they were well-made.

It's really not surprising it's cancelled.

Rafe Judkins did an awful job and alienated fans of the books.

The big gaps between series also did not help.

Hopefully someone else can pick this up and do a better job - preferably from the beginning.

Casting would have to be much better too.

I'm happy to hear that, I havent seen any of their work yet but I've been hearing lots of people are enjoying Severance. WoT is definitely a show that needs attention to detail.

They're already familiar with how to advertise for fantasy, as well, something prime really lacked.

I blame this far more than anything Rafe did or didn’t do. Prime has no idea how to market their shows.

There was next to nothing in the way of promotion. And what promotions they did do were uninspired and shallow.

The only time the show was advertised well to me was season 3. It suddenly popped up in my algorithm on fb and tiktok way more, and I was seeing more new fans than ever. So many of them were asking for book spoilers to get potential insight to the next season, it was fun to see.

Really? Thanks so much for informing me that I am not a fan of the books. Or did you mean something different?

I meant exactly what I said.  I did not say alienated all fans of the books.

But even a cursory glance at the feedback, especially the first series, confirms that book fans in general were disgusted by the adaption and switched off.

Your purported sample: “people who provided feedback on the show” is not representative of “book fans in general”.

You need to brush up on your basic statistics.

"In general", right. "Cursory glance", 100% backed up.

Don't agree with you, your arguments suck and are based on your biases.

In statistics you don't need a big sample to draw conclusions.
