Character Development Threads

These threads should be done for every Sister. Posted on this board, they will serve two purposes: First, each should include an "Aes Sedai Bio" at the top that tells us about your character and what other Sisters in the Ajah would know or perceive about her (for example, your personality, your general views, past actions, etc.). Since biographies of characters often do not include their time in the Tower (and cannot be edited after approval), this fixes that problem.

Second, the threads will help keep track of old RPs any one particular character was involved with; ideally, all the RPs you've done (that are still available, anyway) should be linked on this thread. Why? Because it's fun to read other people's stories and learn about their character! More practically speaking, though, they help you to keep track of what you have done over a long period of time, and fellow Ajah members may desire to know what their Sisters have been up to these years. We also can learn better about your character this way.

Each Sister should have her own thread, though there need only be one post per thread. The post can be edited to add in new RPs as they are completed.

These are separate from Monthly RP Reporting (see below), which is its own thread.

The desired format is below:

Quote

Character as an Aes Sedai:

[Blurb here; what other sisters would know about your sister].

Role-play History

Arranged from oldest on bottom to newest at the top (in terms of IC timeline).

2018

Role-play Reporting

Preferably, RP reporting should be done on a monthly basis. For any role-play threads your Sister is involved in, please report here (Link TBD). This is separate, and more detailed, from your personal character development thread. This is where the Ajah Head will come to gather information to pass on to the WT Staff, keeping track of Active sisters.

Current Brown Ajah Projects/RPs

This section will list any current Ajah-wide, open or important RPs.

  • None

Major/ Important Ajah RPs (WIP) - The List goes from Most Recent (at the top) to the Oldest (at the bottom). This list includes Ajah-related RPs and sometimes major/important Tower RPs that your character could have reasonably taken part in (like the dreadlord Caladesh's attack on the WT).

One Last Stand: 999 NE. Caladesh, a Dreadlord/M’aeshadar, wreaks havoc in the White Tower; Lyanna (Keeper) is killed, among others, and Lanfir (Amyrlin) was burnt out and disappeared. (Caladesh was murdered by Lanfir in his cell; public knowledge is only that he was executed by the White Tower).

Hunt for Namandar: [Green, Brown Ajahs]. A text is found detailing the ruins of a city from the Age of Legends; the Green Sitters (Sirayn, Eleanor, Taya) seek Amyrlin Karana's permission to go investigate it and a missing sister, Tilana Sedai, tied to it. The mission is lead by Sirayn, who is variously accompanied by Kaylan, Jehanine, Lwena, Egwainne, and Raeyn Sedai (Sitter), as well as a few other Browns (Arette, Kit) (NSW AS included: Sarita, Leilani, Ellvara, Nydylia, Vira, Darealle Sedai). The Aes Sedai are accompanied by their Gaidin and some Tower Guards.

Various events occurred; Lanfir, Lyanna were found after a very long absence; while in the ancient and rediscovered city, the party is attacked by the Forsaken Belal, a dreadlord with him and various Shadowspawn; the body of Tilana and her Warder are found; Leilani and Nydylia are killed; Namandar collapsed into the ocean from the One Power battle that occurred.

Aftermath: While all the Green Sitters are gone on their mission, a Law is passed that requires Sisters embarking from the White Tower on dangerous missions to have the Hall's permission. Upon returning, the Green Sitters strongly oppose and join the Red/Gray faction.

Role-play Ideas

Anyone can suggest RP ideas; please start new threads for each individual idea for planning.

Things that need doing/ Recently Completed:

  • A definitive Ajah Timeline. - (WIP) - When did sisters join the Brown Ajah? Who was what position, and when? - Link TBD.
  • Find players' names of PC Browns - WIP
  • Brown Ajah Politics - (Complete; Below)
  • Role-play Thread Copies - find and link important Brown Ajah RPs.

Ajah Politics

Current Allies: Yellow, Blue

Neutral/Undecided: White

Opposition: Gray, Red, Green

The list is arranged, in general, from our strongest allies to our strongest opponents. Keep in mind that the list is mostly a guideline, and an Ajah may sway any way depending on the matter at hand.

  • Blue: The Brown, Blue and Yellow Ajah formed an alliance against the Greens after Lanfir went back on her word to chose a Blue Keeper, choosing a fellow Green instead. This angered all three Ajahs. Historically speaking, Brown often supported the Blue against the Yellow in Hall affairs.
  • Yellow: Considered an ally; they are part of the Brown-Blue-Yellow alliance. The Brown Ajah has been at odds with the Greens ever since the disaster at Namandar (an AoL city which an expedition from the WT was sent to investigate; Greens lead, and Browns made up the second-largest Ajah to be part of the mission).
  • White: Considered neutral. Historically, Whites support Blue against Reds, but no other politics are known.
  • Gray: Grays are strongly allied with the Red and Green; thus they are seen as mostly in opposition to the Brown.
  • Red: The Gray supported the Red to oppose a change in the gentling law (which now states that channeling men must be studied before being gentled; this was before the Cleansing). The Grays also sided with the Red after another law change requiring Sisters leaving from the WT to dangerous missions to have the Hall's permission. The Grays supported the Reds in raising Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat.
  • Green: Yellows were angered by Greens when Lanfir went back on her word to chose a Blue Keeper, choosing a fellow Green instead. The Green and Brown have been at odds ever since the disaster at Namandar, where sisters died. Browns also were against the Green since Karana was deposed and stilled (for knowing about the DR and not telling the Hall), with Lanfir replacing her on the Amyrlin Seat; a move that was, from the Brown perspective, seen as a power grab. The Green supported raising Shevara to the Amyrlin Seat.

DM Brown Ajah Customs and Facts

  • Hallway has a dark brown tiled carpet with the flame of Tar Valon embroidered in a strip going from the entrance to the Ajah quarters straight down the middle to the far wall opposite the entrance door.
  • Regular sisters have rooms with a main room with two extra rooms. The extra room is intended for the residence of a potential Warder but can be used for other purposes as well.
  • Sitter's rooms are the only ones with a balcony, though Sitters may decline such a room upon being raised to their position.
  • Browns often maintain rooms in the Library building, or live there altogether.

Ajah Facts and Customs from the Books

  • The main thrust of the Brown Ajah was gathering knowledge; they were librarians, historians and natural historians, doing nothing in the physical sciences or toward invention.
  • The Brown Ajah has a ruling council. Its number of members varies from five to thirteen, though there is always an odd number.
  • The head of the council is foremost among the Brown sisters without actually being considered the head of the Ajah, but in fact she has about as much real authority as any of the other Ajah heads. The head of the council is sometimes referred to as the First Chair; most often, she is simply called “the head of the council,” reflecting the supposed egalitarian nature and the rather loose structure of the Brown.
  • [At least part of] The Brown Ajah quarters is located on the 22nd floor of the Tower.

Eyes-and-Ears Signals

While only a few Sisters in an Ajah know who heads the Ajah's Eyes-and-Ears, signals, which are taught to all sisters within the Ajah, are put out for when they have an urgent message to give any sister of the Ajah that happens by. Signals are only put out when the message is important and must be received as soon as time allows.
