We live in a post 50 Shades world, after all, and a strong, independent, woman who wants to be dominated and be with a man can be assertive, and respects her enough to let her do her own thing - while being right there to rescue her if something goes wrong? Sanderson was tasked with the impossible: finishing another's work. You can ask any author and they will all agree that even receiving that offer is a nightmare. Add to it that he was a huge fan of RJ, that's a whole new level of pressure. That being said he did the best that he could under the circumstances, and I do believe he has admitted that he was staying as close to the notes that RJ left as well as Harriet's guidance to give us all an ending. I started reading his own works after the announcement, and I'm glad I did. He has become one of my favorite authors. I like the idea he has about the Cosmere, and the fact that we are getting to see so many different parts of it. What he does with his magic systems is impressive. Warbreaker is a good entry because it is a stand alone story, but I wouldn't hesitate to advise Mistborn, Stormlight, or if you want a light read and super heroes his Reckoners series was a lot of fun.

I'm with you there. I know a lot of people support the Thom/Moraine romance but it really does feel like that came out of nowhere. At least with Siuan and Gareth you can see something growing between them at Salidar.

I think you've got a pretty good ranking there. I kind of disagree aboout Nyn and Lan being good though. In the scope of it all they spent so much of the books away from each other, and the few times they were together Nyn was a spoiled brat. While Lan did need someone who could tear him away from the whole "All I have to offer is death" kind of thing, I don't think Nyn was the best option. Definitely agree that Min was the absolute best of the three, and yes Elayne went full Princess mode when she tore Rand's name off of literally everything. The city makes sense, the school was just petulant.

Hey Boopsy, if you're still feeling a like stirring up some trouble I could use something new. After all I think I need a fresh start. Can we start simple with just the name, no titles til I get them sorted, but always must mention the Bluest Blue Helmet for posterity reasons.

Not wrong, but the important note here is "through the ages". This is still the Third Age, for all we know every Third Age has these same people using the same names. The different turning is Rafe's words, but I do think looking at it like a portal world fits a bit better. Yes these are all people and things we are familiar with, but there's just something a little different.
