You also seem to be ignoring the multitude of lawsuits coming against AI engines for using material they have no right to. And I do not agree that some Utopia where all creative input is done by computer. No actors, no voice actors, no composers, indeed books can be written by AI too, so no future Robert Jordans. It simply doesnt make sense to say the only thing worth measuring a show against is faithfullness to the source material. You have the books for that, and WoT is always going to struggle when you have cut down the story, compensate for the internal dialogue, work against the common idea that the story is slow and boring amongst fantasy fans, etc.

That is such simplistic concept it beggars belief. These forums are full of devoted fans arguing and discussing the story, there is no such thing as a consensus of fan opinion. It is one the grear misconceptions of the show that those that did not like it are some kind of monolith in their opinions. As soon as the discussion moves to what should have been done, it is clear there is no consensus. While a faithful one to one rendition of the books into animation would be cool, it is still going to be a huge investment. And the payoff of such an epic work is potentially equally huge. So the idea that money would not pay a role is silly.

The first series had its issues, undoubtedly. That did not appear to be the gist of your argument. You appear to be ignoring my points and doubling down on your unsubstantiated claims. I don't particularly care - a TV show of my favourite books has been cancelled. The fact that people like you think this is a good thing does not bother me hugely. IMO, you don't understand a lot about the books or the show. And your categorical claims about "book fans" only make that crystal clear. The statements you are making are demonstrably false. You did not like the show. A sizable portion of the fanbase of the books did not like the show. A sizable portion did. I did. Stop claiming you are representative of "book fans" and I am not.

Certainly true that unreliable narrators were a technique that Jordan never used. Absolutely not a theme in the books. Only the Dragon being a woman would have changed the narrative, it could be easily argued that the possibility (even if false) of the Dragon being a woman could have increased the dread waiting for him to be reborn and increased the distrust of the Aes Sedai. Just because you don't understand something does not make it stupid.

I don't really like any of that. 3 sounds pretty good, but it is only one use. 2 sounds good, but we have fall damage reduction already as a passive. Don't really see anything worth the money. Not that I know anything about it, but it seems apparent that there has been a Russian attempt to back up any right-wing ideology to sow dissension and stoke the tensions in Western society. So I could believe the stuff about gender issues in WoT would attract them.

The issue I had with Faile is that when we only had Perrin's POV, her actions kind of made sense. But then we see her POV, and we see that she does not blame Perrin at all for the Berelain situation, yet she actively punishes him for it. I don't get how that makes any sense to anyone, nor have I ever seen any explanation that squares that with rationality. Approving of corporal punishment in consensual sex does not make sense of her actions, from my understanding at least.

Rafe as a figurehead of all the influences on the show, from writers to producers to Amazon executives to the Light knows who, yet you lay any blame squarely on the Rafe. And you are so interested in WoT that you have 9 posts. Obviously we can barely stop you discussing your love of the books. This is emblematic of the personal attacks on Rafe in lieu of actual contentual criticisms. Efforts were made to make a sprawling story with nearly 3,000 named characters and several abrupt changes in narrative, and a heavy reliance on internal POV, into a TV series of 8 seasons with 8 episodes. Your subjective opinion is it wasn't done well. And you pretend this is an objective fact. Not something that lends confidence to the validity of your subjective opinion.

Even though they were talking about making Rand's relationships into a more consensual polyamorous one? Min, I admit I have no idea where they were going with that one, but it looks like we are never going to find out. Elayne and Aviendha appeared to me to be being set up to be sister-wives, but not with Rand as the be all and end all in the relationship but as an equal partner.

Why make it personal at all? And if the show objectively did not understand the books, why is it that "many, many" book fans really loved the show? Clearly many people are disappointed that the show has been cancelled, many couldn't care less and there are those that are happy about it which I struggle to understand. But hey, you guys do you.
