I expect we will see a season 3, but season 4 depends on season two numbers.

If Rafe keeps making these kinds of changes I don’t see him having the book fan base en masse by season 3.

I’m already expecting a massive drop in numbers for season 2 premier.

People keep saying “wait” on Rand getting his op moment. I’ve been hearing that all season.

How long do we have to wait for Rand to get his moment? 
 

“oh it’s okay a side character did Tarwins gap, Rand will have falme.”

quickly becomes “oh it’s okay Moragase did Falme Rand has his big moment at Dumai wells” etc 

I was excusing many of yet things that concerned me because I was confident there would be payoff at Tarwins gap. And that would be Rands moment.

it didn’t happen. So now I have to consider the show as a whole and there is nothing that gives me faith that Rafe will do justice to my favorite characters biggest moments. His favorite characters will get their moments but mine wont.

Mat, Rand, and Perrin were done dirty this season and I don’t see that changing. 
 

It’s not the story Rafe wants to tell. 
 

So next season is almost certainly going to be set primarily in the White Tower with occasional cutaways to Perrin hunting Padan Fain, Rand in the Blight, and Mat doing whatever. They aren’t our protagonists in our show, they’re side characters.

The protagonist is going to be Moiraine and Lan and her journey to be healed along with Egwene and Nynaeve.

I could be wrong, but everything about season 1 shows me this show was not made for people who’s favorite characters are the three boys.

But I hope season 2 premier numbers are abysmal. 

It absolutely will get a third season. Second season is midway filming.

4 season is where I see the cancellation if they don’t drastically course correct in first few episodes of season 2.

they’ve had massive numbers for season 1. Season 2 numbers will determine if we get a season 4. 

I think the biggest thing for non book readers was... my wife was like "Okay why is there a season two? Why is this not the last battle. Rand just took out the Dark One Right. Why does it matter that Whistle dude has the gold box?"

I hear you. I just...there was no reason for this. There are consistently good shows out there that do cater to the hardcore fans that still do well. I just...Idk. Think I'm going through the stages of grief tonight.

I had issues with some of the choices in the series but pushed them away under the auspice of the finale being worth the payoff. Of seeing Rand go wild on trollocs. Etc.

Now I'm just kinda left feeling empty and confused. They didn't have to go this direction. There was a way to tell this beautiful story without all these changes. Just...ugh.

Ep8 was, by far, the very worst yet in terms of telling the established story. I could list ten major things - BIG things - but I don't need to; you all know what they are.

Pretty much same boat, but I won't be watching. There were elements of this show I really liked. But...giving Tarwin's Gap to a side character shows to me that Rafe doesn't understand this show the way I understood and loved it.

I won't be watching and all I can do is hope we get like an anime or cartoon series one day of Wheel of Time. 

On the plus side, the wife and I are reading the books together when she hadn't read them before. So there is that. 

I just feel empty inside right now.

I really enjoyed elements of this show. I loved the cast.

But....Rafe just fundamentally understands this show in a different way than I do. I wanted to liked this show. I really did. I loved seeing Beltine. I loved seeing Tigraine be BA.

I love all the actors.

But the story. It's just not the story I love. And I get sick thinking about it right now. I'll be fine and move on. Life doesn't revolve around fictional stories after all. But there is an element of grief at the moment.

*sigh*

Peace friends. I"m done. I can't put myself through this for another season. 

So...tehre were elements of the show I liked...

One can go on IMDB and see that LTT is cast, as well as a child seeing ships arriving... So not really news or controversial or warranting "oofs".

It's gonna split the fandom right down the middle and I hate to say it, but I'll be in the drop  the show mode.To me if these leaks are accurate, it shows that Rafe just fundamentally understands Wheel of Time in a way that I don't. Which is fine I guess...but the show just isn't for me as much as I've loved the casting and so many elements. of it. 

Thinking through Lack of Lan and Rand…I think we will see that start of season 2.

with only episodes this season has been packed with things. While ymmv on those choices, I think moving Lan and Rands relationship to season 2 works. Since also we’ll likely be getting Morgase and Elayne in season 2.

Honestly the fact we’re getting so much Moraine/Egwene/Nynaeve concerns me.

The lack of character development on Rand/Mat/Perrin needs to change in Season 2.

Rafe has said Egwene is his favorite character. This is troublesome to me because I don’t think you he understands the nuance of the character.

At the end of the day Egwene is a powerful and strong woman…but ultimately a very flawed individual who believes her way is the best way.

I don’t really know where I’m going with this other than to say that anecdotally I’ve found people who loved Egwene really didn’t read WoT the way I did and don’t remember major points the way I do.

Anyways, we will see how these next two episodes go and I’m giving it until season two, but they have got to focus on Rand/Mat/Perrin.

Ngl I loved the first four episodes but the past two have sucked for me.

These aren't the characters I care about. I like Moraine well enough..but we've had two whole episodes with barely any time happening for Rand/Mat/Perrin

Such a waste of  time. I'm very frustrated. I'll give them until season 2 but...just ugh. Very disappointed that it seems it's just going to focus on Moraine as the focal point. 

Basically have to accept that this season is from Moraines perspective at this point so don’t expect to focus much on the book protagonists until next season if ever.

I truly believe that this show would benefit from a longer run time. Based on the stats, GoT Seasons 1-5 received 71% of the schedule time for WoT with only 40% of the content.

Rafe needs 10 episode seasons to truly do this show justice.

So I love the show, but merely rate it good. And part of that is the content Rafe is choosing to focus on. That said there are a couple things he could’ve done to make this great tier.

-Cold open of episode 1: Replace with episode 4s rather than the red chase.

-Episofe 4 rather than have fade show up, spend time with Rand/Mat/Thom on the road and working. Have more time pass.

-Episode 5: beginning should be fade fight. Reduce the stepin scenes.

My main issue with the show is I feel Rafe consistently focuses on the wrong things. 
 

Still, 8/10 atm and loving the show but the above is my issue.

But they weren’t the focus of the episode. If this was a serial series where we had 14-18 episodes I’d have had no issue with it. 
 

It’s not. It’s basically an 8 hour movie and there are so many important bits that need to show up and they wasted it on a character we will barely remember in Season 5.

I love every scene we got with The Emond Fielders…just far too little time spent with our protagonists. It’s bad story telling.

I like the show but this is the weakest episode by far. Still a lot of good elements, but meh.
