S3E8 - He Who Comes With The Dawn
SinisterDeath replied to A Memory Of Why's topic in Wheel of Time TV Show
Devils Advocate, why are we hung up on him "cheating" on Egwene? They broke up in Season 1, right? In Season 2, he hooked up with Selene. He broke off that toxic relationship with Selene. He was then forced to be close to Egwene in the sense that they were traveling together for a few months and during that time they decided that they guess? they were a thing again.. maybe? But were they ever actually... Together? The few moments of intimacy we saw Rand tried to have with Egwene, she pulled away. (Because of Lanfears manipulation) They try to kiss? She turns her head. They try to lay together, she turns over. Rand was being isolated in his interpersonal relationships because of Lanfear. Listen to their conversation in S3E1? There's no communication, there's no intimacy there. Egwene is so wrapped up in her own suffering and trauma, that she has no idea about what Rand is going through at all. Rand is staring 10 miles away, looking madness in the eye as he's constantly combatting the addictive death that is Saidin that is just at the edge of his finger tips, waiting there for him, every waking second of the day. And then there's Lanfear, waiting for him every night. With Kind Words, and a warm touch. To take away his troubles, pain, and isolation. -

Sounds to me like Lanfear was trying use her manipulation tactics to make Rand Codependent on her. 😉 -
How do channelers discover they are bad at healing?
SinisterDeath replied to king of nowhere's topic in Wheel of Time Books
I don't think this is a thing? Otherwise when Moiraine initially treated Mat, he would never have been able to have been treated in Tar Valon. Likewise, when Rand's wound was treated, he would never have been able to have had his wound treated again by others. (Note: His unhealing wound, wouldn't heal because of other reasons) Depending on the weave and the extent of the injury, you may well kill them anyways if you're using battle healing... as that weave basically accelerates the persons natural healing. (Which is why they become ravenously hungry). There's a reference in the Wiki that battle healing is the only kind of healing that treats wounds inflicted by Thakan'dar-wrought blades. (Myrddraal blades) while the other healing from AOL didn't, and that's why the healing used by the Tower became the predominant style. Though they never did state if the version Nynaeve uses can heal wounds inflicted by Thakan'dar blades, as it's implied I believe by one of the Forsaken that she rediscovered the original healing weaver used during the AoLs. Egwene had no talent for healing what's so ever.... but she was apparently good enough to impress the Yellow Ajah. So take that as you will. I'd have to read the section in TDR, but I'm almost positive when Rand attempts to heal death, all the child's wounds and broken bones are healed in the process, but the meat puppet and one power driven CPR wouldn't do anything. I'd say a lot of this falls onto... stuff happens off screen, or in the case with the Kid, Rand just saw himself as a Destroyer rather than a Creator. The specific talent for healing in the book, may well be a specific type of delving, that you just have to have a type of talent for in order for your healing to be the most effective at. How do you heal a hole in the heart if you can't delve into the body and feel that there's a hole in the heart? -

S3E8 - He Who Comes With The Dawn
SinisterDeath replied to A Memory Of Why's topic in Wheel of Time TV Show
That's not what we were shown. The show makes it clear that, as noted, Rand is fully aware that he's dreaming of and interacting with the real Lanfear. If she were entering his dreams uninvited, such would not be the case. Yes he's aware during the dream, that doesn't mean she's incapable of intruding in on him during his dream, which is what Skipp said. Lanfear is able to waltz into his dream, whether he's aware he's dreaming or not, whether she's invited or uninvited. That was the point of that scene with Egwene in Episode 8. He needed her help to expel Lanfear from his Dream. -
S3E8 - He Who Comes With The Dawn

On that front, I think we only have to look at Domestic Abuse stats to see that 97% (women) leave their partner and return multiple times, while only 67% leave and returned once. Now obviously, we can apply the same thing for Egwene when it comes to failing to talk about Lanfear (Domestic Violence) in her dreams with Rand. But I think if people are going to forgive Egwene for failing to talk about Lanfear's abuse in her Dreams, they have to forgive Rand for failing to communicate about Lanfear's grooming of Rand as well. (also a form of emotional abuse) -

These two are related. Egwene barely talked about her traumatic dreams about Renna with Rand. From a relationship angle, any time they attempted to get intimate, she would pull away. (This was by Lanfear's design). From Rand's perspective, Egwene's been pulling away from Rand, Physically and Emotionally for... Months. And then in his Dreams, who's there for him physically and emotionally? (Lanfear). Rand and Egwene have been effectively "broken up" since they left Tar Valon, they just never... said the words, because they don't talk, and they don't communicate. Had they communicated, Rand would have Learned from Egwene a LOT earlier.. that Lanfear was screwing with her Dreams... Had he learned about that, he would have confronted Lanfear in his own dreams a LOT earlier, and then Egwene may never have ever learned that Rand was having his "dream fling" with Lanfear... Course, Rand may well have Died in his sleep. Ultimately though, from a relationship standpoint. Rand/Egwene are in their Early twenties. Did Egwene actually believe Rand was going to be her one and only true love for the rest of her life? Or did she just want her cake and eat it to? It takes a special kind of love for one another, for two people to accept each others Traumas, specially in your Twenties... to get through a rough patch of limited emotional and physical intimacy as you work through your Trauma so you can be emotionally and physically intimate again. Neither Egwene or Rand are ready for that right now... Specially not with the Gaslighting Queen of the Dark Lanfear actively interfering in both their lives, and making their traumas worse. Tldr: For everyone reading this. OMG a bunch of 20 something year olds, acting like a bunch of 20 somethings when they aren't communicating and being physically intimate and start doing stupid shit because they're young dumb and full of stupid. -

When I watched that scene, I did consider that maybe that was Lanfear posing as Moiraine. Because what happens next? We get Lanfear's meeting with Rand. Rand Betrays' Lanfear, Egwene shunts her out, and Moiraine, Rand, Egwene and Company expect Lanfear to Attack... Then they all go running off to Alcair Dal... If Moiraine had captured Sammael... why didn't she bring him along... in a box and instead leave him behind in a cave, unguarded? Also, we literally do see Lanfear in that same camp, dressed as a Maiden. So it's not impossible for her to have been there. And, if she had tossed ol' Sammy into T'A'R, it wouldn't even be a stretch for show viewers to think she could look like someone else... since she literally did that in Season 2. -

90's Action Hero Mafia - Game Over - Mafia Wins
SinisterDeath replied to Darthe's topic in DM Mafia Games
*Admin Hat* Yeah.... so it turns out that behind the scenes, the DM Mafia Games subforum, was the one and only subforum on ALL of DM that had guest permissions to post. Elder Haman, managed to delete the two guest posts before I got to them this morning. I've fixed that permission so that shouldn't happen again. -
Careful, if @Clovdyx catches wind of this fact, he might want you to call him the energizer bunny.

I'm not convinced that half of the current game isn't already not all ChatGPT bots.

Yes, but also, you're just worried it'll take yer jerb. (Meaning counting posts in mafia lolol)

As for work arounds... Might be absolutely bonkers stupid and 1000% unreliable... But could you run a specific topic through something like ChatGPT? Lmao And uh.. hope Zander? doesn't break it...

That's above my pay grade. AFAIK, that all requires special extensions to Invision Community Forums Software, and they recently got rid of their ICS marketplace for 3rd party extensions. To make matters worse, there's a huge Invision Community Software updating coming down the pipeline, so it's not even worth exploring an extension for "ISO" if it's just going to be broken in the new update. But who knows... Maybe that new update will have built in ISO? I dunno.

90's Action Hero Mafia - Game Over - Mafia Wins
SinisterDeath replied to Darthe's topic in DM Mafia Games
@Darthe gave me the go ahead to post a follow up here regarding nested quotes. I just figured out how to do them properly. Step 1. Highlight The Original quote + The Text, and click "Quote Selection". Then as shown below, It'll auto nest for you. This should alleviate any concerns with anyone accidently screwing up quoting the wrong post in the nest and getting accused of cheating via manipulating the text in their quotes. That said, this method was only tested on Desktop, and It probably works like trash on your Mobile browser. If you attempt it on your phone and it doesn't work, or you can't delete the quote, you may have to enable "desktop mode" in your browser in order to gain some functionality in DM's post editor. And if DM is being particularly frustrating and won't delete a quote, if you have access to this button, , clicking that and deleting all the text in your post should delete it. Otherwise a "hard" reset is about the only thing you can do in your browser...
