They gave her knowledge, that she'd be Amyrlin. That's not a gift they can give. -

We'll be lucky if we even get Nynaeve healing stilling. Hell, she may straight up resurrect Siuan, since they really focused in on how you can't bring back the dead this season. (Which also means we're likely getting a new Sammy in the future, cause... lord of the grave and all) -
You can hide from Kenpachi over in Media Discussion. Definitely feel free to start any topics about the various anime you like over there... It's been ages since anyone's discussed that there!

Book Aelfinn do not give gifts, they give Knowledge. In the show, the only thing we know is that Elaida went through the doorway, the Aelfinn were named dropped. She came out staring at her bracelet, and we were told that every gift has a price. Immediately after Elaida leaves the doorway, we also hear the same foxy laugh that Mat hears when he leaves. What we don't know is if somehow, show Elaida managed to get some questions answered and then managed to get some wishes granted, because as it was made clear... not every sister who enters that doorway... leaves. -

Creator: Clyde Phillips Stars: Michael C. Hall, Jack Alcott, Jason Alan Carvell I heard about this series coming out, and... I'm expecting a dumpster fire, but I'm here for it. Even though, Dexter Died in the Series Finale of Dexter new Blood, he's alive and well in Dexter: Resurrection. And he's back doing bad things for good reasons. And he's got new friends! And our old friend Batista's looking amazing as always! And what show wouldn't be awesome without our dear old friend, Tyrion Lannister? And of course.. Harrison is back, doing exactly what is dear old dad did... literally. https://www.tvinsider.com/gallery/dexter-resurrection-photos/

Creator: Clyde Phillips Stars: Patrick Gibson, Christian Slater, Molly Brown This show has a 70% critic score, and a 77% audience score from Rotten Tomatoes. I have not personally watched this show, but this is on my "Watch list", as I've seen all the prior Dexter seasons/shows. The popcorn meter... doesn't scare me. lol

Creators: Alex Larsen, Adi Shankar Stars: Johnny Yong Bosch, Scout Taylor-Compton, Hoon Lee This show got a 96% from critics, and a 63% from viewers over on Rotten Tomatoes. I found the show to be a fun watch, that had me craving more as the series ended. I've never played the videos games, but I have a suspicious that the popcorn meter was 63% due brigading from people who came from the video game side hating on it for not being a faithful adaptation?

Creators: Liz Heldens, Daniel T. Thomsen Stars: Ramón Rodríguez, Erika Christensen, Iantha Richardson, Sonja Sohn (From the Wire) Here's the shows Popcorn meter from Rotten Tomatoes. I've loved this procedural crime drama since it first came out in 2023, and this season has been going hard on Mr. Trent. There's two more episodes this season, one on April 22nd, and the finale on April 29th.

Series Creator: Ben H. Winters Stars: Justin Hartley, Abby McEnany, Fiona Rene, Eric Graise The show has an 89% from critics and a 72% from viewers over on Rotten Tomatoes. This series came out on February 11th, 2024, and it seems like even though we're currently on Season 2, the show just never stops coming out with episodes! It's currently on Season 2, Episode 16, and the next episode comes out on April 20th. I've enjoyed this procedural series to the extent that it occasionally has some interesting stories to tell. I enjoy the survival aspects of it... when they actually do that, and I'm also interested in seeing where this show goes when it comes to his past and his future.
-
Series Creator: Jennie Snyder Urman Stars: Kathy Bates, Skye P. Marshall, David Del Rio, Leah Lewis This series concluded last night on April 17th. I haven't watched the season finale yet, but I've personally found it an engaging court room drama, and Kathy Bates has once again shown she is a fantastic actress. Over on Rotten Tomatoes it's got a 100% from critics, and a 79% from the audience.

Objectively, I believe they blew the CGI budget on a variety of One Power effects this season. They didn't spend nearly enough $$$ on the Trollocs in Episode 7. (The underworld werewolf Trolloc Chasing Aram looked really cheesy and under-developed). They definitely leaned in on the practical effects on the foxes, maybe a little too hard. (Note the bloody shoes!) I didn't mind the fox, but I think they could have done something slightly different to make it more obviously a fox. -

Aye, and that's the rub, isn't it? People can want/hope for shows to be cancelled or renewed all they want, but this goes both ways you know? If we don't want to destroy the community, we can't be at each others throats. You can't come here trying to change the others beliefs, and you definitely can't come here to proselytize your viewpoint. That's not going to work. I'm going to wrap this up by saying this. If there is no show, these forums? No one would be talking about anything in a couple of years. The books are done. This WoT community? I honestly don't know why the higher ups would bother keeping the web forums active if there's no one posting? Easier to just archive everything and shut it all down. -

Playing devil's advocate here. It's irrational for someone to want the show cancelled because others enjoy it. So it's also irrational that I think shows like Dr. Phil, the Wendy Williams show, and most of Fox News should have been cancelled Decades ago? -

TBF, it is a valid criticism that the show isn't giving enough screen time to these little scenes to add nuance to these situations. Take the scene just after the battle of the Two Rivers. Aram's sitting all depressed, and Ila is looking away with a tear in her eye. It's implied that he has been shunned as a Tuath'an, but we never got that scene. Why? Because we got that scene in Rand's Vision. What's that thing that's been hammered home about adaptations? Show, don't tell. Right? Well, here's another part of that. You can't always tell a story through inference and expect the audience to just get what you're telling without showing it to them. If You're dealing with a subplot like Alviarin, then yeah, that works. But you can't always do that with everything. just to cut down on time. The battle of the two Rivers episodes was exactly 1 Hour! They could have shown us a quick 30 second scene of Ila repeating those heart wrenching lines to Aram. They could have done soo much more in that episode and it could have been even better then it was, just by adding a few more scenes. But they choose to make the Perrin focused episode, the penultimate episode this season... The shortest episode, and that speaks volumes. So yeah, sometimes you do need to slow down and tell a story by showing that story instead of just inferring things happened off screen. That's how you world build. Right now, they're not world building. Right now, they're telling a bunch of disconnected stories and every time they make a new rule, they change that rule whenever it fits the plot armor. -

It's connected in the sense that the DO can manipulate the world as the seals weaken, but after Rand is Wounded, manipulating the land becomes a whole lot easier, and we start to see a lot more bubbles of evil start popping up now that the DO's power is both growing from more seals getting broken, and it's ability to directly affect the land is easier since it's got that direct conduit. Let me put it this way. Rand's wound was described as "hot to the touch", and the lands sweltered. What happened to the weather, after Rand became Zen? -

The closest example we have of this in the books, is when a member of the Black Ajah breaks their oaths. But that is bound by the oath rod, and attempting to break said oath, via the oath rod causes physical pain... as we saw described in New Spring. Book wise, I don't believe anything except other Darkfriends cause them to die if they break their oaths. They also have the whole Circle of 13 Black Ajah sisters, and 13 Myrddraal to force convert people to Darkfriends. (This happened to Grendel.) They do be writing themselves into a corner if all you have to do is somehow trick a darkfriend into breaking their oath. lol So, I believe the fox told Mat something like "You hear voices, we can fix that" and Mat's like "Yes Just fix me!" they said "Done". Later they said "You didn't set a price, and a price must be paid". So what I believe happened is that they "fixed" the uncontrolled voices/memories in his head. And instead, what they did is they erased huge gaps of his own memories, and filled them with memories of long dead generals. This opens up the possibility of the 2nd doorway happening for him to get his "answers" from the other Finn... assuming those give him Answers like in the books, and don't also grant "wishes" like this one did. The big question is... did they just place 3 doorways into the damn show? Since we've seen one in the white tower? Albeit that one looks a lot like the one in the Panarch's Palace? (And I believe the subtitles even mentioned both the Aelfin and the Eelfin in this episode) -

Sure, but that still doesn't mean that the DO just "erases" said soul from existence. In WoT cosmology, there's the Creator, the DO, and then there's the Wheel. The show may well be doing it's own bloody thing, but even in the show logic, Ishy is a Liar. Lanfear is a Gas lighter. Moggy is a Manpilator. To paraphrase RJ... Why would we believe the Forsaken? -

From a WoT cosmology standpoint, not even balefire completely wipes a soul from the pattern.. So this B.S. about breaking the dark oaths is likely that. B.S. Ishamal was literally the Lord of Lies. He gas lit every generation of dark friends, and the entire continent into "believing" this lie that you'd lose your soul if you broke your dark oaths... What better way to make sure you keep them? Specially when you literally see people DIE when they break them! Doesn't mean people don't get reborn at a cosmological level in the next turning. Maybe not the next age, or the age after that. But who would ever know? There's no soul keepers. There's no ledger. There's no way to track down a soul and find out a specific soul after it's reborn...
