Kat you got some reads to share?

This will be abbreviated cause I'm on my phone. I'll do a better list tomorrow at work. AND I AINT COLORING. Way too much work on my phone.

Dragonhawk-town

Believe - town ( or biggest butthole busser on earth to tink)

Cass- town LEAN

Celeste - town LEAN

Sili - I'm not sure what to think about his ate

Lenlo - meh he's always scummy to me

Darooh - slight scummy well darth is. Sooh seems kinda towny but idk

Aj - scum of some type obviously

Who am I forgetting?? I'm probably wrong about either Cass or Celeste but I need to Iso them. So very possible one of them will drop tomorrow when I get to work. One of my lows could change as well. I haven't been able to follow as closely as I would have liked to this weekend.

Shad/Zander - Zander defensive and talks when it concerns him. Isn’t really pushing anyone else.

Shad - establishes some sort of position. More careful a player?

Only attachment is to Sili Quarrels and it’s a weak one.

Hallia/Nynaeve - Posts seem more town-aligned.

Sili Quirrels - Null

Katiora - Null

Cass - Can read as scum or town trying to get involved, maybe

Andrej - Logical thoughts, doesn’t really show town or scum imo. After 20 pages votes me based on joke vote. Feels bad initially but then I realised that 19 pages are players talking about subtly but not so subtly wanting to sex each other.

Believer - Don’t know anything. As much as people are saying it’s town-like to push the agenda I don’t think it’s overly telling.

Darthe/Sooh - Null

Wildfire Sedai - Don’t think she’d be as bold as scum. Her D1 seems the same as LoEG mafia.

Lenlo - Dips in and out. Hasn’t had a post about the actual game yet. Null

Celeste - Not much to it. Suppose you could read it as scum could also read as trying-to-be-involved-but-not-actually-involved town.

Dicetosser1 - Can’t really read.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Raisins, however slight? I do not read Lenlo well.

He feels comfortable in the thread--similar to the vibe he gave me at the start of WoW. /shrug

I feel hes almost a tad subdued thus far.

Shad and everyone, thoughts on Lenlo?

Sup Hally. How goes it? Why people votin AJ?

Why aren't you is the question?

[v]Andrej[/v]

I didn't quote this, but later he gives his reads....says Cass can be scum or town trying to get involved. Which seems like a null read to me. Which i guess isn't a huge deal, she literally posted twice up until this point. The first post is just her shaking her booty. The second post is her general impressions. So I would expect him to keep tabs on her and decide which is it?  Instead, minutes later he agrees with Sili that her content seems convenient and fluffy, and votes her. The transition seems wonky to me. No me gusta.

It's not no opinion -> opinion suddenly. If I had no opinion I would've said null. Her responses seemed fairly pointless and it was noticeable.

Let's talk.

I've said a helluva lot since that second post, which is what your vote was based on.

I don't see Nyn saying you went from no opinion -> opinion. I see her saying that you didn't keep tabs and decide. I have to agree with the transition seeming wonky. The sticking with it here, without updating your read even moreso.

Wanna go through my ISO and see where you agree/disagree/have thoughts?

She said I went from null to coming to a conclusion. I've been following what you've been saying but I mean it doesn't really add much to your defence.

But, @Believer

- Why did you ISO Alette?

- Have you ISO'd anyone else?

Here's the link to (Town) Believer Star Fox ISO

And current game to here

The main things standing out are:

Hangs back a lot in the beginning of the mash;

Attitude in mash initially more helpful/conversant/questioning than straight-out accusatory. Seems willing to answer questions;

Change in tone later in mash game to more flippant/aggressive, somewhat similar to here;

No post-by-post ISO commentary on any player;

Focuses suspicion on several different players at a time in mash.

TLDR:

I see some differences in tone and content but am not sure how much can be attributed to giant mash volume/re-entry to mafia environment.

The early involvement and quickly accusatory attitude here differs to the beginning of the mash, but could be more an indicator of confidence than alignment given shifts towards end of mash.

The heavy/single-minded tunnel on Celeste seems like nothing seen in the mash.

@ Sili - To clarify the monster multi-quote above, these were the questions you missed answering:

Sili, pls explain your "wolf trying to read correctly" comment wrt me giving AJ's post Towny points there.

Where do you stand on AJ right now?

FYI I'm not reading him either way, nor was that post hard-pushing anyone anywhere. It was me voicing the vibes I picked up on skim at work (ie. Gerrrofff me if you're not a Wolf. I'll re-look at everything when I get home).

What makes Wi-Fi a weak player?

Do you have alignment meta on her?

Why is questioning her reacting badly to pressure a bad thing?

gah it's so quiet this morning... and we can all feel Zander's presence in the thread..... *sighs* *tapes Z's hands together so it's harder for him to type*

How serious is your policy lynch on AJ?

Thoughts/feels on anyone yet?

Well, what you've been primarily doing just seems like you're overly trying to fit in and the recent posts haven't really convinced me of anything.

Questions like "How serious is the policy lynch?" "Why is applying pressure a bad thing?" What kind of answers are you actually expecting here? Just comes off as if you've been prodded and now are overly defensive.

You vote Sili for not answering your questions they're not really questions of substance and to me it comes off as more of a panicked retaliation than a genuine scum read.

I'm fine keeping my vote where it is.

Cass prolly spewed Town?

Hi nyn and kat, hope you're both well!

So, are you guys okay with me intuiting my way through this?  I've been reading a lot of philosophy lately on intuition and logic and the divide between them and I really wanna try it out.

Probably won't be much change, if any.

God Shad is Darooh still a villager....????

Lol yeah right. I'm at what L-2 now? Nobody is gonna move. Mafia have it easy this phase cause there's no wrong way to go about lynching a claimed SK

Bring mutualism or just get it over with. I've no interest in making an effort when it'll amount to nothing on my end. Scratch my back and I'll scratch your's. I'm a much more powerful ally than any VT any day.

Your also a much less trustworthy ally then a VT. A VT has to win with town. You have to kill us all.

Let's put this way. There's no way I make it to end game and complete my solo wincon. It was a slim chance to begin with and absolutely 0% now

I am more valuable 1) because scum can't kill me easily and 2) I can kill them

Andrej did you respond to the question I asked you? I can't find your answer.

Probably not.

What was it?

Thoughts on the fight???

Absolute slug fest

Tons of fun to watch

Probably should've ended in a draw tbh but they need that trilogy money

The leg kick strat was genius but I'm pretty much convinced Diaz is made of some type of wood

Conor won rouds 1,2,4 clearly.

Nate won 3 and 5.  3 clearly.

Both Diaz brothers are man.

Goes to show Conor's power and skill and heart tho, Nate's a bigger, more experienced and more durable and cardio machine.

Conor got gassed bad late round 2 and all of 3.

It was a wicked fight and cant wait to see the 3rd!!!!!

some people don't like emotions. makes it more difficult to read a person so they just shoot them or something. doesn't matter if between the biting words there's content you can read.

well, not all communities are like that. some take mafia seriously and it's more difficult to get to the point people give up on you.

in any case, i said like two nights ago 'f*** it bye' and i won't put in a lot of effort into this game anyway.

i'm going to get lynched regardless of what i do i'm pretty sure.

Meh.

Some of us set our village bar higher than others. I've tried to play non-committal town games. I've signed up off-site on low volume forums where you can get away with pretty blah play, thinking I can try my hand at just making a few snap reads and not caring if I'm wrong or get lynched or lose. I can't sustain it, because I just enjoy the thrill of getting things right too much, and I always end up bombarding the game with thoughts before long. Sometimes I grind it to the point of exhausting myself and walk away wishing I'd never signed up, other games like this one I kind of hit a zen spot where I can properly regulate the time I commit, but I'm still heavily invested when I'm here. I've never played a game as a villager where I just didn't really care.

That sort of drive is present in a lot of DM players. It's what makes this an especially fun forum to play Mafia on. When I see Cory or AJ or Zander or Nyn or BFG or you I expect something of the same, and I think the hardest part of wolfing for all of us is replicating that insatiable desire to solve. Sometimes it manifests in raw post count and sometimes it manifests in depth of reads and sometimes it manifests in aggressiveness but it's something we've all learned to look for in each other. You're not showing the drive in this game, and the post in quote makes that obvious enough. Maybe it's an overly simplistic characterization of you and town!Sili is more capable of losing interest than I thought, but until a flip in a game causes me to adjust my meta I'm going to be strongly pinged by it. And even if you're a villager, it's something I'm going to struggle accepting in the future because I've seen you be so enthusiastic and motivated so many times.

The fact that you have an emotion tell in the first place is because you get so heavily invested as a villager.  The longer we go without major signs of that investment elsewhere in your game, the more it leads me to wonder whether you'd fake the emotion.  I haven't seen you do so before, but I haven't seen you village like this before either.  I guess what I'm getting at is if you are a villager try to get over this rut you're in and do your thing.  You talk about how you're going to get lynched no matter what you do so you might as well not put in much effort, but that's exactly what is going to get you lynched.  I mean damage has been done and I'll probably never fully trust you the way I would if I saw the town!Sili I'm accustomed to from the get go, but if you're a villager the sooner you let yourself enjoy this game the better the chances are that we will draw the correct conclusion.  This prolonged defeatist attitude is a village sign for some people but it's not something I associate with you, and if I'm wrong I'm sorry for contributing to making this game unpleasant for you but I hope you can appreciate my POV.  We lynched a wolf D1.  We caught a non-town today.  We're in a great position moving forward and unless we've got some pretty deep wolves most of the village is pulling its weight.  I'm used to you being one of the leaders of the pack and the whole downer attitude is just so weird and atypical to me.  Does it make me think you're a wolf?  Yeah kind of.  But if you aren't, hey, you're not getting lynched today, so just try and embrace the positive state and put the burden on us to draw the correct conclusion.

tl;dr: so far you've been blip....blip......blip and I'm used to blipblibpblibpblbipbbbbll and there's still plenty of time for the latter to manifest so if you're a villager don't get all defeatist.

that's really unlikely to happen this game.

i've no drive to reread the thread or put more energy into second guessing myself.

ergo just lynch me if you feel i'm being inactive. i'm not though.

Isn't that the 'basic reduced meta' thought?

If you'd just peaced out I'd have probably shot you instead of AJ, but if you're villa you know you've still been less involved than normal so you know why I don't trust you.

If you don't have the drive and you're villa it's unfortunate and something I'll have to try and adjust for in future games.  At the present it's just not something I've seen out of you as a villager.  I wish there was something I could do to get you pumped up about what's happening here if you're town because I don't really know how to read you as such otherwise.

faking emotion makes me feel sick after. i don't do it unless i really bloody want the win. that's the truth.

my ate was probably something i'd feel as a wolf however, if i was even a little invested as a wolf.

lynching wolves or whatever doesn't matter to villagers who didn't participate in the winning a lot of the time. just an fyi. winning doesn't automatically make people happy. it's complicated.

in regard to the bold, i started out villaging like normal but for some reason you and nyn's slot had it in their heads i should be acting different. idk. but i do know that i got very frustrated having to explain what i meant so much.

thing is what's there to think about?

1 wolf down. 1 sk down. max 2 scum left.

pretty sure about most of my villa reads.

got a couple individuals i'm not sure about still, but whatev. they're my poe.

We did.  Early game reads are generally a lot less substantial, and I'm going to throw out my thoughts anyway with the condition that I don't have much faith in them, because otherwise the game goes nowhere.  If that has the unfortunate consequence of demotivating a villager I'm sorry, but we did both back off of you eventually and I was pretty vocal about not lynching you yesterday.  I don't know if that helps any? but like I said you're not getting lynched today either, so there's plenty of time.

Posted

You and Darthe tend to village well together.  He's been the most vocal in calling your emotion fake.  What's your take on that?

he's always said that. typical darthe. and it's an easy line of approach, yes, but it's not unusual.

darthe doesn't really get me when i get emotional.

i was going to say that kat coming in talking about how aj might be lying for raisins? and then making a readlist out of nowhere on a phone was suspicious, but actually i don't think it looks that bad at all.

lolme.
