lily's peek on Chris didnt hurt either

That did alot to, but knowing Wish was mafia I feel halted the despair town was heading into and helped us stop cannibalizing each other.

I thought quite a few villagers played well; Seph (who got lynched because of villa envy IMO), Zander (specifically late d1 and n1), BFG, Hallia/Kat had major contributions. Sili got markedly better late-game.

I think the problem was less that the village played poorly and more that the wolves ran strong interference to keep the lynch off their bros, not even necessarily by defending them but by requesting they get more time and etc. and that worked until Wish and Chris both went down quickly and the "defense" wall of the wolves broke down.

I think by far the biggest issue this game was the volume explosion that occured after multiple long 1v1 arguments - which never help town and really need to be dissuaded.

Great article on "narrow discuissions" vs. "wide discussions" here:

http://www.mafiauniverse.com/forums/threads/1601-5-Narrow-vs-Wide-Discussions-%28by-Crunkus%29

Summary of points:

Two players arguing is not natural, and leads to all kinds of town-negative outcomes. Both players are likely to have skewed versions of the conflict if they do not have the voices around them offering perspectives. Sometimes people change and moderate given what the voices around them are saying. This applies primarily to town, who often have every reason to moderate their position under such circumstances, as opposed to mafia who may be looking to simplify their day by letting one simple encounter define how they vote or how they contribute for the day. Don't stay out of it. Don't offer quips and one liners. Do something to address the concerns of the parties and focus on ideas and perspectives. The town can learn the most from the situation that way.

If you see a discussion going off the rails...get involved. Fact check both sides and share what you've come up with. If someone really is doing something unfair in your view, point it out as clearly as possible. Sometimes it's easy to ignore that you are being unfair if only ONE voice you are angry with or think is scum is the only one offering that perspective. Your added voice, perhaps along side others, can help keep things from getting out of control. Make your thread a more productive place. Just telling people to shut up and staying out of it doesn't do that. Doing that takes a touch more work, but it's worth it.

Failures to communicate between 2 players are not ultimately the fault of either of the players, but are a shared responsibility ultimately of all the town aligned players. Every town aligned player has a vested interest in keeping 2 way "shouting matches" less frequent and intense by widening the discussion.

Day 3 probably comes down to Lenlo, Wish, maybe Liz or Laine, Lily may have had to claim though which would have changed things

Would have been very interesting

Zander one of these days you'll learn patience.

Ever notice in the last handful of villager games your early reads have been poor, you've been involved in multiple distracting v/v arguments and generally agitate other people in the thread... only to have your reads drastically improve usually by eod1/n1 as you start to see the game better as you start to GOAT it up?? That's because at some point you usually stop posting so much and start observing more readily and that's when you are at your best. As much as you joke about not thinking, you clearly use that processing time and the results of it are almost always good.

I understand that sometimes you feel the need to push content in the thread by forcing people to react and drive discussion, and that's a great trait when it's necessary. In a game like this where people were involved in the game from the start, I think you'd do a great deal better if you held back your aggression for awhile and interacted more calmly and observantly until EoD closes in (in which you have full permission to get more aggressive, as all that matters in a day phase ultimately is who gets lynched).

You learn a great deal just watching what people do on their own without throwing them into situations where they need to react.

Just my .2c

I mean I post like crazy too and I'm in your xNFP bucket, but one of the things that's really improved my game was forcing myself to be more patient.

Maybe it'll help you? :unsure::wub:

It's funny, because you're so often involved in 1v1 spats, and they go on for so long, I've learned not to listen to them.

I don't think it's even that you are "slow to the draw", I think you just distract yourself by being a little too eager. It's something I struggle with a lot and trying to approach the game differently has really helped me :P

You're still our Crayons 101 teacher boo
