This game is based off of a browser Mafia game called Town of Salem. It resembles that game as closely as possible, while taking into account forum-style format. Information for their roles is provided from their Wiki, and roles here are based on that information. It is available for reference, just like Mafiascum would normally be.
There will be some unfamiliar aspects in this game:

If there is a spy in the game, they will be given read-only access to the mafia QT.
I suggest Mafia keeps themselves anonymous on their thread.

Whispering: During the Day Phases, you may "Whisper" another player. This entails sending a PM to them including myself and Sooh in the PM. Then you post ITT that you started a whisper conversation with them e.g. "Turin whispered Ithi". The Spy will be notified of the content of each whisper.
Please only do this concerning game-related information. I don't need to get bogged down with everything my players say to each other.
If you are found breaking this by Whispering and not telling the thread, or at times when you aren't allowed, you may be Modkilled. Don't make me do that.

Dead Thread: This will be different than the standard. The Medium will have access to the thread, and can communicate with the dead during night phases. Therefore, the setup of the game will not be revealed there.

Lynching: This will also not be a standard format. There will be the traditional voting for a lynch. Once majority is reached, there will be a 24 hour Voting Phase. This phase will consist of a PM to me via your role PM (Vote: guilty/innocent/abstain), and then a post on the thread that you have voted. If the 24 hour window ends, and you did not vote, you Abstain. Then I will reveal the results. If Innocent outnumbers Guilty, the lynchee survives, and the day ends in a no-lynch. Otherwise, they are lynched. If the lynch fails, and there is still a decent amount of time left in the day, you will be allowed another chance to lynch. (I don't expect this to happen, being this community likes to wait til right before the deadline to lynch, but this is an option)

Last Will: In your role PM conversation, you can leave a message of what you would like to be said when you die. This can say anything you want, and can be updated up until the point that you die. Upon death, if you have left a Last Will, this will also be displayed.

Death Note: If you have a killing role, you can leave a message with your victim, to be revealed upon their death. This can say anything you want. If you choose to do so, submit it with your action

That aside, here are the Game Rules:

1. All days, except Day 0, will be 48 hours long. All nights will be 24 hours long.
1a. Weekends will count as one 24 hour period.

2. All times posted will be in Arizona time (Mountain Standard Time, No DST)
3. No posting in the thread during Night phase. No whispering at Night either.

3a. There will be a ~30 min Dusk phase after the resolution of the Lynch to react to it before Night.
3b. There will be no mafia chat during the day. (They are the type to collaborate under the cover of night, anyway)
4. There won't be a lynch on Day 0.
5. This game is an open setup. Below is a complete list of possible roles in the game.
5a. There are no Vanilla roles.
6. Role claims are allowed
7. Voting No lynch is not allowed. [see above for rulings on No Lynch condition]
7a. Self-votes are not allowed.
8. Do not quote any private communications you have with a mod.
9. Do not talk to another player outside of allowed channels.
9a. Allowed channels includes Whispering (See above)
10. If a phase ends, and you did not submit your action, you chose not to use it.
10a. This applies to all phases (Day actions, Voting, and Night actions)
10b. Day actions and Night actions will be submitted via your Role PM
11. Please follow all general Mafia and ToS rules.

This game will be Semi-open. You will know the categories in the game, to an extent, but not the exact roles.
This list is sorted by type. Any relation to player is is mere coincidence.

Town Protective
Town Investigative

There is no guarantee of any role. Roles will be selected randomly from the list. These are the roles available:


Bodyguard – Town (Protective)


Night Action: Choose a person to protect.
If your target is attacked, both you and your attacker will die instead.
You can be healed during this attack. Your counterattack ignores Night Immunity.
You have one bulletproof vest. You will gain Night Immunity for the night you use it.

Win conditions: You win when all threats to town are dead.

You can only prevent one attack per night. If there are multiple attackers, you will attack the highest priority, by the following list:
Godfather, Mafioso, Serial Killer, Arsonist (if they try to douse your target), Vigilante, Werewolf
You can NOT counter Veteran, Jailor, or another Bodyguard
If your target dies from guilt (Vigilante or Jester's curse target), you cannot protect them.
If you attempt to protect the Veteran while they are on alert, you will NOT counterattack their attackers. (This is only relevant against the Werewolf)
Your counterattack can still be prevented by a Doctor, leaving one of you dead, but the other still alive.
If your target is healed by the Doctor at the same time you are protecting them, the Doctor will still see that your target was attacked.
If a Witch or Transporter causes you to target yourself, you will use your vest.


Doctor – Town (Protective)


Night Action: Heal one person each night, preventing them from dying.

Win conditions: You win when all threats to town are dead.

You may only heal yourself once.
You will know if your target was attacked.

You cannot heal under certain circumstances:
the Mayor (after reveal), anyone executed by Jailor, anyone ignited by Arsonist, anyone who dies by guilt (Vig or Jester's target)

You can heal an attack made by Veteran, Vigilante, Bodyguard, Godfather, Mafioso, Serial Killer, or Werewolf
You heal all attacks on your target in a single night, and will be notified of each one.
If your target was attacked by a Werewolf, you will save them, but will die in the process.


Escort – Town (Support)


Night Action: Role-block
Special Attribute: Role-block immune

Win condition: You win when all threats to town are dead.

If you target a Serial Killer, he will kill you instead.
If you target a Werewolf on a full moon, it will stay home and kill all visitors (including you)
You can survive the above situations from a doctor's heal.
If there are both a Godfather and Mafioso alive, and you block one, the other will still attack their target.
Some roles are immune to role-blocking.


Investigator – Town (Investigative)


Night Action: Investigate someone to get a clue to their role.

Win condition: You win when all threats to town are dead.

When investigating someone, you will get one of the following results:
Your target is a protector (Bodyguard, Jailor, or Lookout)
Your target smells of gas (Transporter or Arsonist)
You target works with knives (Doctor or Serial Killer)
Your target is manipulative (Jester, Escort or Consort)
Your target gathers information (Investigator or Consigliere)
Your target is a leader among men (Godfather or Mayor)
Your target seeks justice (Sheriff, Retributionist, or Executioner)
Your target works with secret information (Spy or Blackmailer)
Your target works with weapons (Veteran, Vigilante, or Mafioso)
Your target works with the dead (Janitor or Medium)
Your target is good at forging documents (Framer)
Note: Framed people will appear to be a Framer
Your target is a loner (Survivor, Werewolf, or Witch)
Your target doesn't know who they are (Amnesiac)


Jailor – Town (Killing)


Day Action: You may choose a person during the day to jail the following night.
Night Action: Execute x3
Special Attributes: Unique Role, Ignores Night Immunity and Roleblocking
Win condition: You win when all threats to town are dead.

To use your ability, PM the name of the target you wish to jail during the day phase.
While your target is in jail, anyone targeting them will fail. They will still die to suicide abilities. Your target will be unable to use their ability.

You will be given access to a QT board to talk anonymously to your target. You have 3 total executions. While you are allowed to jail someone for Night 0, you won’t be able to execute that night. If you execute a Town member, you lose your remaining executions. Submit your Execution via Role PM.

If you jail a Serial Killer, but do not execute them, they will attack you.
If you jail a Werewolf on a full moon, and do not execute them, they will attack you, and everyone that visits you.


Lookout – Town (Investigative)


Night Action: Watch someone, and see who visits them.
Special Attributes: Ignore Detection Immunity

Win condition: You win when all threats to town are dead.

If a Werewolf attacks who you're watching, it will attack you too.


Mayor – Town (Support)


Day Action: During day phase, you may PM the mod to be revealed as the mayor.
Special Attributes: Unique Role

Win condition: You win when all threats to town are dead.

Once you are revealed, your vote counts as 3 votes, but the Doctor can no longer heal you.


Medium – Town (Support)


Passive Ability: Communicate with the dead.
Night Action: Seance x1 (after you are dead)

Win condition: You win when all threats to town are dead.

From the start of the game, you have access to the dead thread. You will join anonymously as Medium, but may choose to let others know who you are.

Also, once dead, you may send one Seance. This is a message sent privately to any living player.

You may not talk on the dead thread during day phases, or while in jail.


Retributionist – Town (Support)


Night Action: Revive x1
Special Attribute: Unique Role

Win condition: You win when all threats to town are dead.

At night, you may revive a townie that has died.
You cannot revive Neutral or Mafia roles.


Sheriff – Town (Investigative)


Night Action: Check someone's alignment

Win condition: You win when all threats to town are dead.

Your result will be Not Suspicious, Mafia, Serial Killer, or Werewolf (on full moons)
Godfather will show as Not Suspicious
If your target was also Framed that night, they will show as Mafia


Spy – Town (Investigative)


Passive Ability: Hear Mafia and Whispers

Win condition: You win when all threats to town are dead.

You will have access to the mafia QT board, but will not be able to post on it.
If someone whispers to another player, you will be informed of what they say.
If you are alive, and not role-blocked or jailed, you will know who the mafia target at night.


Transporter – Town (Support)


Night Action: Choose two people to transport at night.
Special Attributes: Role-block Immunity, Witch Immune

Win condition: You win when all threats to town are dead.

Anyone targeting one of your targets will target the other instead.
Your targets will know they were transported.
If one of your targets is in jail, your transport will fail, and you will be notified.
You may transport yourself.


Veteran – Town (Killing)


Night Action: Alert x3
Special Attributes: Unique Role, Night Immune (on alert), Role-block Immune, Witch Immune

Win condition: You win when all threats to town are dead.

While on alert:
You will attack anyone that visits you.
You cannot be killed at night (with the exception of Arsonist's ignition, Jester's haunt, and Werewolf's attack)


Vigilante – Town (Killing)


Night Action: Night Kill x3

Win condition: You win when all threats to town are dead.

During Night 0, you cannot use your NK, although you can still be controlled by a Witch to do so.
If you shoot another town member, you will lose your remaining NKs, and will commit suicide over the guilt the following night.





Blackmailer – Mafia (Support)


Night Action: Choose one person to blackmail.

Win conditions:
Kill all anyone that will not submit to the Mafia. You may spare Witches and Survivors.
You will also win if your team has the only killing role left, and have voting majority.

You will choose a PR to place upon your target for the following day.
If there are no kill capable mafia roles left, a random Mafia will become a Mafioso.


Consigliere – Mafia (Support)

Kill all anyone that will not submit to the Mafia. You may spare Witches and Survivors.

Framer – Mafia (Deception)

Kill all anyone that will not submit to the Mafia. You may spare Witches and Survivors.
You will also win if your team has the only killing role left, and have voting majority.

If your target is viewed by Sheriff, they will come up as Mafia.
If your target is viewed by Investigator, they will come up as Framer.

If there are no kill capable mafia roles left, a random Mafia will become a Mafioso.


Godfather – Mafia (Killing)


Night Action: Night Kill
Special Attributes: Unique Role, Detection Immunity, Night Immunity

Win conditions:
Kill all anyone that will not submit to the Mafia. You may spare Witches and Survivors.
You will also win if your team has the only killing role left, and have voting majority.

If there is a Mafioso, they will attack your target instead of their own.
If you don't choose a target, the Mafioso will attack their own target
If you or the Mafioso was role-blocked or jailed, the other will attack their target.
You will appear as Not Suspicious to Sheriff.
If you die while a Mafioso is still alive, they will be promoted to Godfather.


Janitor – Mafia (Deception)


Night Action: Clean x3

Win conditions:
Kill all anyone that will not submit to the Mafia. You may spare Witches and Survivors.
You will also win if your team has the only killing role left, and have voting majority.

If your target dies, their Coroner's report will not be revealed.
They will show as Cleaned on the player list.
You will be told their role.

If there are no kill capable mafia roles left, a random Mafia will become a Mafioso.


Mafioso – Mafia (Killing)


Night Action : Night Kill
Special Attributes: Unique Role

Win conditions:
Kill all anyone that will not submit to the Mafia. You may spare Witches and Survivors.
You will also win if your team has the only killing role left, and have voting majority.

You will carry out the Godfather's orders.
If the Godfather didn't choose a target, you will attack your own target
If you or the Godfather was role-blocked or jailed, the other will attack their target.
If the Godfather dies, you will become the new Godfather.
If you die, and there is no living Godfather, a random Mafia will become Mafioso.





Amnesiac – Neutral (Benign)


Night Action: Remember who you are by selecting a graveyard role.

Win condition – None yet

When you use your action, there will be a notification of what the Amnesiac remembered being.
You can't choose a Unique role.
You may attempt to remember a cleaned role. If it's Unique, it will fail.
Any attributes of your role will take effect the following day.
You will gain the win conditions of the role you become.


Arsonist – Neutral (Killing)


Night Actions: Target someone else to douse them, or target self to ignite doused targets.
Special Attributes: Night Immunity, Ignores Night Immunity, Detection Immunity

Win condition: You win when all town and killing roles are dead.

Your target will know they were doused.
Death from fire cannot be prevented by healing or night immunities.
If you do not use your action, you will clean yourself (important if there are two arsonists)
A jailed target will be saved from being doused or ignited.


Executioner – Neutral (Evil)


Ability: None
Special Attributes: Night Immune

Win condition: Get your target lynched

Your target is {Name}. Your target is town.
If your target is killed at night, you will become a Jester, at the beginning of the next day.


Jester – Neutral (Evil)


Ability: None

Win condition: Get yourself lynched

If you are lynched, you may kill one person that voted Guilty on you on the following night.
This kill ignores all immunities and protection.
If you do not choose a target, it will be random.
A Transporter can switch your target.


Serial Killer – Neutral (Killing)


Night Action: Night Kill
Special Attributes: Night Immunity

Win condition: You win when all townies and killing roles are dead.

If you are Role-blocked, you will attack the Role-blocker(s) instead of your target.
If you are jailed, but not executed, you will attack the jailor.


Survivor – Neutral (Benign)


Night Action: Bulletproof Vest x4

Win Condition: Live until the end of the game.

Your vest doesn't protect you from Arsonist's Ignite, Werewolf, Jailor, or Jester's haunt
If a Witch controls you, you will be forced to use your vest.


Witch – Neutral (Evil)


Night Action: Control someone's target
Special Attributes: Role-block Immunity, Detection Immunity

Win conditions: You win when all the townies are dead.

You choose your target, and who they target. You can force people to target themselves.
Your target will know they were controlled. You are immune to Transports.
You will not die if you target a Werewolf that chose to stay at home, instead you will control them.


Werewolf – Neutral (Killing)


Night Action: Night Kill on Full Moons (Odd Nights)
Special Attributes: Unique Role, Night Immunity on Full Moons, Ignores Night Immunity
Win condition: You win when all townies and killing roles are dead.

If a Sheriff views you, the result will depend on Full Moon
Even nights: Not Suspicious. Odd Nights: Werewolf

Every odd night, you will transform into a Werewolf. You may choose to target a player, killing the player as well as anyone that visits them, or stay home.
If you are role-blocked, or forced to visit yourself, you will stay home.
If you stay home on an odd night, you will attack anyone that visits you.
If you are jailed on a Full Moon, you will kill the Jailor and anyone that visits them if you aren't executed.




There are also some immunities in the game. If your role has an immunity, a further description can be found here:


Immunity
Immunity refers to one of four types of special attributes held by many roles in the game. They will prevent certain abilities of having an effect. Each of these immunities is entirely beneficial to the character.

Roleblock Immunity
Roleblock Immunity is a form of Immunity which lets a character be unaffected by roleblocking. The Escort and Consort will not receive a message if the roleblock was successful or not.

Roles with Roleblock Immunity
The Escort, Consort, Transporter and Witch are immune to roleblocks.
The Veteran is immune to being roleblocked and will shoot the roleblocker, should they be on alert.
If one of these roles is roleblocked, they will receive a message: Someone tried to role block you but you are immune!

Roles otherwise unaffected by roleblocks
The Jailor will still jail their target, but be unable to execute them.
A Spy will still hear the Mafia, but be unable to see their visits.
A Serial Killer will stay at home, but attack the visiting roleblockers. They will receive a different message: Someone role blocked you, so you attacked them!
The Werewolf will stay at home if roleblocked during Full Moon, attacking anyone who visits them (including the roleblocker).

Night Immunity
Night Immunity is a form of Immunity which protects a character from being killed at night. Night Immune characters must be lynched during the day or killed at night by roles who ignore Night Immunity (see below).

If you attack someone who is immune at night for any reason, you will receive a message: Your target was immune to your attack! If this message does not appear but your target is still alive, they were healed by a Doctor.

Roles With Night Immunity
Godfather, Serial Killer, Arsonist, Werewolf - permanent
Executioner - permanent, if they do not turn into a Jester
Survivor - gained by using a bulletproof vest
Bodyguard - gained by using the bulletproof vest
Veteran - gained by going on alert
anyone jailed by the Jailor (also protects from Arsonist and Werewolf)
Additionally, anyone who is healed by a Doctor will not die at night (exceptions below).

If one of these roles is attacked and does not die, they will receive a message: Someone attacked you but you are immune at night!

Roles Who Ignore Night Immunity
Bodyguard - when killing your target's attacker
Jailor - when executing your prisoner (also ignores every other form of protection)
Veteran - when visited while on alert at night
Arsonist - when igniting your doused targets (also ignores healing)
Werewolf - when pillaging a house during a Full Moon
Jester - when haunting a guilty voter (also ignores every other form of protection)

Detection Immunity
Detection Immunity is a kind of Immunity of some roles opposing the Town who can't be detected by a Sheriff, i.e. the character will be "not suspicious". All other Town Investigative roles and the Consigliere are unaffected.

Roles With Detection Immunity
all Neutral Evil roles: Executioner, Jester, Witch
Godfather - also applies if they were originally a Mafioso
Arsonist
Werewolf (only on a non-Full Moon night)
These roles will not receive a message if the Sheriff interrogates them.

Witch Immunity
Witch Immunity is a kind of Immunity which lets a character be unaffected by a Witch's attempt to control them. However, they may still be the secondary target.

Roles With Witch Immunity
The Transporter is control immune. If they are visited by a Witch, they will receive a message: A Witch tried to control you but you are immune.
The Mayor and Spy are unaffected by controls.
The Medium, Amnesiac, Executioner and Jester are unaffected by controls, but the Lookout will be able to see the forced visit.
The Jailor will still jail their prisoner, but an execution will be forced or prevented.
If the Witch targets a Veteran, the Veteran will alert and shoot the Witch.
