[Basic] Bolshevik Mafia - TOWN WINS

On WF btw MVPs were given away so dumbly. You could be the cop and found 1 scum in 6 phases (MVP). What about the random vanilla town that caught 2 scum on pure reads? Nope. No recognition. Its purely arbitrary. Plus sometimes you can make what seem like objectively stupid moves that work out and get MVP, while being embarrassed about your play.

This is precisely why I started giving out the CBP award for all of my games.  You could be town and nail the entire team Day 1 and die, or you could be ignored by mafia for the entire duration because your reads suck and you make 1 correct night action.  I'd rather be the first; I think that's more indicative of "good" play.

Be honest, though.  There were no vanilla town roles.  I don't think there was a TRUE vanilla role until Cory's "The Walter" game, and even those might have had gimmicks.  The only 100% vanilla roles I remember were in my Items mini game.

They also had that stupid rule that "if you die as town, you don't win."  Granted ,that didn't matter often because I believe town won ONCE in the first dozen or so games there.  I think my first win was Mortal Kombat, so I was right in the same position as you.

Batman was the only time we were in the same faction.  We were both town in Superheroes, which was my first game with you.  We were "together" in NFL, in that I was mafia and you were town that needed to help mafia to win.  We were both town in WWE.

I think that's it.

Superheroes will forever be the game Swag ruined lol. One day we will have to play together again.

I liked the "if you die as town, you don't win" rule bc it added the exciting element of needing to straddle the line of making people think your scum and not dying. But, it does completely hurt your ability to win. Plus with so many scum factions kills would rain down on town.

To be fair, there are a lot of games you could argue Swag ruined.

Well, that, and there's an element of killing people you just don't want to win.

sometimes it does point to you directly and most of the time most villagers ignore

On N1 in this set-up wolves have free reign to shoot anyone they want without drawing attention to their reads, because seer hunt.

Did anyone put two scraps of thought into Turin's epic reads when he died N1? Nope. And you probably shouldn't have, because he might just as easily have been town reading the whole scum team but held the highest seer equity by a large margin in their eyes.

I mean seer equity being equal I'm going to shoot the player who I think is of greater risk to me, but at best that's something you can go back and consider late game, and threats to scum aren't always obvious to town anyway. Last time I had to seer hunt I narrowed it to three people and shot the guy with the best track record of reading me and my partner correctly over time even though he had both of us in D1 town core.

Yep, clean sweep.

Literally the only way we won from D2 is if by some chance Lenlo was not the cop.

I did get the feeling that was your thought process with the Sooh kill. Like if Sooh is cop we still have a good chance of winning this if we nail her tonight vs if Lenlo is cop the damage has already been done, so gamble on maximizing opportunity from the more favorable set-up rather than taking the best option from the bottom of the pit.

Eldrick was pretty much toast as soon as the real seer dies, excluding a SHC Darthe NK.

Not sure what your slot could have done about POE.  Maybe with Lenlo not getting the Thane peek off Thane and Laine could have been lynched.  Hard to say.

Vanilla Lenlo temporarily tunnels to make reads, not to push them, in my experience, but you didn't really have the meta to know that.

Btw, I'm noticing a pattern with Calder. If Calder is in a game, he's scum.

It's a given.

Step 1: Make Calder scum

Step 2: Rand

Step 3: ?????????

Steo 4: Calder is last scum alive

When your number came up again after I'd specifically asked you to play I grimaced and thought about rerolling, but random.org reigns supreme.  >_<

This was such a beautiful, awful, fun game.

YES!

I kind of surprised myself never getting irritated with the drama. I was thoroughly amused from start to finish.

Maybe because it was mostly rooted in confusion surrounding the seer rather than people bashing each other's play styles.

I admit my 75% scum percentage is partially driven up by a few games where mods actually picked some spots (bc I was scum in all of those). But, overall it is right at the 70% mark.

Do we count games where you start as town but end up scum? Bc then it is even higher. Swag once checked and found than in 9 straight cult games, I was recruiter 2 times, recruited 6, and NKed only once.

>_>

I guess the mafia really wanted me dead.

The seer thing they noted was actually unintended. My only real attempt at creating seer equity was when I challenged Eldrick about his unlikely demise on N1 and him flipping cop. I think I was already effectively dead by then tho.

Pretty much exactly this

And when he does he THINKS

Calder I think you might have been surprised irt Eldrick if you had hit Lenlo n2. I understand how hopeless things looked at the time, but don't underestimate the game's lolvillage equity. I mean, they lynched Sili.

Watching Calder during the d3 village implosion was hilarious btw

He was like "no, no, they are going to snap out of this any minute. This isn't real."
