I've never told a lie in my whole life

You're a LLL

Nolder, I don't really see a problem with that, I think it's all a part of gameplay. Metas are gonna happen when you're playing with the same group of people, and it's up to us to weed out what they're presenting is real or not too: it adds a new level of figuring the game out. AKA: "trust no one and always adjust"

Not sure if you understand. Let's say you're in final 3 and you're mafia. You're trying to drive a lynch on Player A who has created a truthful meta. You and Player A are voting each other while Player B isn't sure what to do. Player A comes back and says "I am town." Player B votes you without any hesitation.

There is no beating someone with a truthful meta. When they get a power role there is no counter claiming them. They get away with it because of the meta they've created for themselves. And it's not hard. All you have to do is refuse to answer when people ask you to claim. You don't compromise your scum game really.

I remember someone who refused to lie. She lost the game as mafia (mostly) because of it. Maybe you played in that game too, Nolder.

Well a personal attack would be an attack on someone on a personal basis

Anything else would not be a personal attack

imo

I haven't seen anyone with a meta like that in the modern Mafia landscape. Maybe this is some 2011 forum werewolf stuff.

It's been years yes. I've only seen a few of these people my entire time playing mafia but I believe it's not ok to do this. I really think it's abusive.

I'm not wearing a shirt. Maybe you're predicting the future?

imo its not logical to say "all play styles are allowed except *insert play style*"

either all play styles are allowed, or their not.  when you start skirtting the edge and "outlawing" or "demeaning" someones play style then you open the door to people saying the same about other play styles (like being an argo bull dog, or claiming D1 because you rand Nilla).  just because its your opinion that thats a bad play style, doesn't mean that style should be discouraged.  a good mafia player knows how to work with and exploit any play style thrown at them, or at least can adapt to any play style.

if you personally dont like a play style, then dont play in a game with that play style or allow it in a game you mod.  otherwise, its too slippery-slope for other game styles to be included on the bases of "i personally dont like this style of play"

I'm kinda agreeing with Red here, maybe with less slippery slope.

I think what it comes down to is "does it play against your alignment or harm the spirit of the game"? If yes, don't do it. If no, have at and lunch some wolves.

Some people might perceive me saying.... omg you're terrible at this game.... or X is being thick about this and that.... as offensive. Only it's not. It's part of the game. There's nothing personal about it... and if I think someone isn't playing to their potential, I'm allowed to say it.... because I'm trying to make a point and be as clear as I can.

Could I be nicer about it? Probably. Am I going to? No.

I feel like I get more out of people by leaning on them vs. coddling them. It's a valid play style. And I don't think it crosses any lines. Otherwise I wouldn't be doing it.

I would argue the player that Nolder is describing (someone who somehow has a indisputable, non-biased long-term strategem of forfeiting all of their wolf games to clear themselves when they are a villager) is pretty much "playing against your alignment"

there's a big difference between a "bad wolf" (being a wolf is hard, LDO) and a player who makes a conscious decision to pretty much forfeit as a wolf

but then again, i have not seen a player do this since like looking back at ~2011 werewolf games on POG

I mean there are probably things I wouldn't say as a wolf but would say as a villager

I think one game I swore to someone on America that I was a villager

I'm not sure I could ever lie about MURICA

I'm speaking in a general sense of game play in response to Red. Having a truthtell or whatever is too exploitable and it plays against your alignment, thus it's bad gameplay. I just don't think the wording should be "play like this and don't play like this." The wording should always be "play to your alignment and don't ruin the spirit of the game," with exploitable tells such as A, B, C which will make the game less enjoyable for everyone.
