Alright, done working.  I'll reread more attentively probably in the morning, maybe tonight depending on how things go.  Two thoughts that stuck with me from trying to keep up on my phone earlier:

Clov has me a little nervous with his wtl on Hallia. I understand the pressure. I also know he watched her eat a lynch with zero effort as town last game and it's unfortunately something she occasionally does as either alignment.  She definitely needs to step up--I don't know that I'd be gearing up to lynch her already.  I'm also not sure where his early town lean on Calder came from given all the praise for his scum game later.

I'm feeling pretty good about Nyn.  I didn't take her vote on me as opportunistic at all; the vote came out of our direct interactions, and she's been entirely willing to continue to engage me since.  I kind of think the Nyn from US would have dug into the back and forth between me and Calder more.  It didn't feel like a "this is going to be my mislynch target" vote.  More like she says what she's thinking in the moment and doesn't really care if it doesn't all jive together perfectly.  I'll ISO her before I commit much to that read.

I'm trying to figure out what game this was.  She was mafia with me in the Harry Potter game, and obviously she was mafia (also with me) in Usual Suspects.

Townread on Calder came from immediately coming into the a game where he's unknown, pushing at somebody, and actually fighting to get his point across.  Can he do that as mafia?  Absolutely.  And I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little worried he's fooling me, but I'm not going to tinfoil on D1 on somebody playing a seemingly town game from the get-go.

Bottom is a perfectly reasonable take on Nyn IMO.

Plexico Burress is my go-to, btw.

Stop giving away my sleepers. I am targeting him and Peerless Price this year.

It may be time to bust out "The League" profile pics again

Tbh I was sort of intrigued by Shad's initial response to my vote because I didn't actually have a reason for it. His explanation in misunderstanding that Calder isn't new was plausible at the least.

It is?

Sure. Your disagreement with it doesn't change that Shad's viewpoint could be genuine.

Hello Nyn. Fancy seeing you here.

Wanna kill all humans?

Wolfy :hopper:

I don't like this response . It's either serious or not. I get that you're tired and all.... but you should be able to answer a yes/no question.

I agree with you here. Joke or not, Alanna hedging isn't a good look when she got called out for it.

Eh, it pinged me.  Doesn't make him scum.  After AJ voted I figured the same thing pinged him too so I mentioned it but downplayed it.

This is sort of your saving grace for me right now, fwiw. I'm still a bit concerned that you didn't question my POV versus assuming I was genuine in the vote, but I want to think that you attempting to see where I was coming from is a good thing.

Morrrrrning

Catching up I like the whole Calder, Shad, Clov interaction. I dunno how to feel about Laine.

Dislike Dice so far. Null on Zander.

Cool.

Explain?

I could get behind what Calder is selling if he would just spell you're correctly.

That said, interesting non-reactions to my Thane vote. Nobody has a comment on that?

Thane was my peek, he's inno.

Wanna tell me why you voted him now? Also what reactions did you expect when you just quoted him and voted without any commentary?

Calder not believing Shad's nonchalant act on page 3 = blatantly calling Shad out...... okay.

I mean if you can't admit that your reaction was completely disproportional to the prod... then I don't know what to tell you.

I'm okay with this assessment and said something similarly a while back.

Cross my fingers that Clov is town and let him weigh in on you?  Has anyone else here played with you before?  I think you are scum.  I don't see how this level of disconnect that conveniently leads to an accusation about me in every post can come from anything else, but it's also blurred my vision a good bit.  I'm going to work for a while and try to reread you with a level head tonight.

Fwiw I think you've perpetuated the argument. It's hard to read and the posts are very dense and make me want to skim them.

Also I would pretty much never have AJ as a green this early in the game

You wound me.

You guys have been going back and forth about something dumb. I'm not gonna start quoting it all. I did enough quoting for one night. And I'm done talking about this.

Have to agree again. That argument should've been squashed a while back.

Ew nolder. Seriously? We're way past placeholder votes dude

I'm not.
explain?

Also not ignoring Andrej and nyns questions I'm just not there yet. Just got out of class, eating really quick then work til 3am and class at 8. Once school is done tomorrow I'll 100% be here.

AJ trending up after #436.  Not much from it I really feel needs addressing, but I love the latter question to Kivam.

I agree with you here. Joke or not, Alanna hedging isn't a good look when she got called out for it.

I'm also making a mental note to comment on this.  But I'd like to see what Alanna has to say first.

FYI, I have a draft (3rd in 3 days) starting at 9, so I'll be unavailable for a while

Take Trent Richardson. He is due for a breakout year.

Followed your advice.  Hope it brings me luck.  I'm actually new to this whole FF thing and I'd like to gain experience, so if you know any money leagues looking for players who don't mind a total newb joining, please point me in their direction *angel face*

Clov said Wwsd which I interpreted as What Would Shad Do?

So I replied in what I that was a clever way saying, That's What Shad Said and voted whoever Shad was voting at the time which was Calder.

I may be behind but I am still trying to get a feel for people and I do think it's interesting the attention this vote got but not my previous vote on Dice which had no explanation whatsoever.

How caught up are you?

About half the thread. Page 11 or so. I skimmed through when I woke up and saw a lot of long posts which I ignored so obviously some argument blew up but I'll have to read it right to figure out what's what. Just got done with dinner (or beakfast as the case may be) so now I have time to read through properly.

Bold: considering his lack of activity thus far, how do you square that claim with your preference for waiting to disclose peeks until players have done more to let you more confidently read them as town?

Underline: No.  I want you to read the thread until you get to that answer

Italics: I was hoping for someone to attack me for it, and was expecting to at least get asked for reasons.  Instead, I got dead air until I pushed the issue ... which is somewhat suggestive of wolves hoping for a lone, unexplicated vote on a teammate to get lost in the wash rather than highlighted with a fight or further questions.

We can go to the other room and be... quiet... together.

giphy.gif

1 - those greens are very light greens for a reason.  AJ's approach to this game, so far, has been townsided, and he's called out the right things, so he can be provisional town (you know me, all D1 reads are HIGHLY provisional).  Nolder has essentially been townNolder for D1.  The "doing the thing" post isn't one I'd expect from scumNolder, who tends to play a bit more self-conscious.

2 - Hally and Dice are in the null pile because they've done nothing thus far.

3 - Crusher is doing his "jokey no content" dance that he does more as scum than town, which is especially odd given how eager he was for another game (he was pushing for one last one on JN, too).  But he is a light scum lean because it's D1 and that fits with townCrush as well.  It's more something to keep an eye on as the game goes on; if he stays in this mode D2, I'll be seriously concerned.  (And no, this isn't something I'd rather sit back and let develop, because few ppl here have played with Crush enough for me to want to take this to my grave if I die N1, and I'd rather have scumCrush adjust and be caught for content than risk that)

4 - Shad would be lower were it not for the niggling suspicion that Calder/Shad is v/v violence.  His reaction fits for scumShad (very similar to his Usual Suspects reaction) but also for a townie who is getting misread and tunneled by someone he's never played with before.  (Your jump-on, on the other hand, looks a bit opportunistic)

5 - Thane feels very much off.  His entry to the thread is not the entry I've seen multiple times now from townThane [even his bartending seemed obligatory], and he strikes me as a player who enjoys the game much less as scum than as town.  I don't understand that, but the change in his behavior fits with that mentality, and if that's what's happening, I like Thane enough as a human being to want to put him out of his misery.

Your read on Nolder is kinda weak, imo. Not sure why you think that post he made (I'm assuming it's some kind of inside joke or handshake thing) means anything or that he couldn't make it as scum. If anything I have Nolder as null and maybe slightly scummy for his lack of content and seemingly random votes without reason.

I don't mind the Crusher commentary. Makes me think of the Breaking Bad game we played on JN where he joked a lot. Granted his was 3rd party there, but I think generally the meta probably fits.

How many games have you played with Thane to make this sort of deduction?

Hmmm. Just kind of treading water right now.

Is that what sharks do?

I disagree with the assertion that most of the game doesnt agree with my argument with Shad. The truth is that this thread has mostly displayed silence surrounding and less than expected participation since it began from those outside the initial argument. It could be that other people are not inspired as you say by it, but why not say that. Instead we have a lot of silence. I am concerned the remaining scum are staying out for now hoping this blows over.

My opinion on it? The argument was dumb.

Another thing of note is that people could just be generally busy during the day and therefore weren't commenting on it, such is the case with me.

I think that's the only conceivable explanation, short of massive town slanking (in which case we deserve to lose).  I mean sure, one of you or Shad could be scum, and 2 other scum players could be staying quiet on the issue in hopes that it blows over.  But that still leaves 9 other players who aren't particularly moved enough by your argument (in either direction) to spur action.  Even assuming you, Shad, and Nyn are all town, that leaves 7 townies not feeling the argument either way (or, again, just slanking).  By definition, and subject to correction if, say, Hally, Zander, Dice, and Laine suddenly pile in to say "wow, great argument, [vote: shad]," most of the game doesn't agree with your argument with Shad.

Clov, you've played with Calder before.  Is this sort of obtuseness usual for him?

I get where you're coming from on this, but again, I think these points came a little prematurely considering this was during the US players work hours. Then again, from what I've read, it doesn't seem like anyone else really weighed in on it either. Probably a decent assumption people were just turned off by the argument because not EVERYONE that neglected to comment can be scum.

I copy/pasted over the rest of the quotes I had cut out to get under the MQ limit when I changed GIFs :(

Don't wanna go back and requote them.

In short - I like Clov's response to Kivam's read lists. The point he raised about Nyn's one liners being a concern when she entered the thread again this morning was a thought I had as well so that's big points for him. Clov is a green read for me. Regarding his vote for Hallia, I don't think it points to her being mafia and thus far don't have her any better than null. I would consider lynching Crusher or Shad though out of the three he listed - Crusher because I think Kivam's meta is accurate and that vote on Nyn was bad. Shad because, although I think he could be a townie, I'm not convinced and he's been a large focal point up to his part of the game so his lynch would be informative. I'm struggling to think the persistence in that argument was from a positive place and I definitely think he was the one to take it down the rabbit hole.

Nyn's emo is weird to me. Idk what it means about her alignment but I've never seen it before so I'm thrown off by it.

Crusher looks like opportunistic scum.

I think maybe you're misunderstanding my point from earlier. I didn't say I think people should wait so they could 'peek' consensus reads, or whatever. Or that since I suggested it (on the merit of people making more accurate reads based on real content) that it was exactly what I would be doing. If I'm the Seer, I peeked Thane and he's a villabro. That should suffice.

I got the answer. My question in response was how many games have you played with Thane to make that sort of observation?

Your point isn't only one of the possible conclusions, btw. I get what you're saying but it's not the only potential outcome. It could be more simply that people just generally didn't care about your vote that was made with seemingly no reason or people just weren't around then or caught up in other issues to really pay it any mind.
