She's done nothing to make me think she's a villager. Even now she isn't around and I don't think Sili being more or less forced into voting her before he tried to fake claim is clearing at all.

The war stumbles and falters; the Old Gods say they can sit it out, they've outlasted fads and fashions before and they can do so again. The New Gods aren't united either; some want to wipe the Old Gods out, others are content to let them starve from lack of belief, they've already lost power. The Old Gods have died before, although the who and the how are no longer remembered. The New Gods know that America is their country now, and even though they've suffered some losses through the years the ones that remain are getting stronger.

 

At least until the markets crash. After an initial surge of renewed belief fuelled by despair and sacrificial suicide the Intangibles find the country turning back to more primeval forces, back to the 'simple' life.
