Vote Clov

I still want to see Salami coming back and explaining himself. You are not forgotten, Csarmi :P

Posted

Alanna seems villagery imo

I don't feel particularly strong on Clov in either direct atm but I do remember him gambiting in our last game together as a townie.

I don't see how Clov and Wombat are garnering so many town leans when neither looks like an obvious or even likely villager to me and when I asked Clov to discuss Wombat he just ignored me outright.

Did I not answer you?

Not that I recall. Wanna answer me now?

Yeah.  He's a slight town read.  His early posts were pretty good.  He followed up with his reasons for reads almost immediately after prompted and they made sense for where we were at in the game (181) and questioned you on your hypothetical about flop votes.

His reversal in #197 on Thane about Des' read didn't seem like he was pulling something out nothing.  I read it the way he's portraying the first time I saw it.

His approach of Nyn doesn't seem scum driven.

Wombat farming maximum postage so that he can slank later without getting MK'd.

You're busted bro.

It's also kinda my natural posting style.  I see no need to restrict it this game.

I'm also missing the part where I'm throwing dirt on you. I basically said I disagreed. Overreaction much?

Your post implied quite clearly that you thought I was dodging questions directed at me by Tommy.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

I said he had little choice but to respond directly.

You said he could have just done what I did and quoted my post.

Therefore, your post only makes sense if you don't believe I wasn't responding directly to Tommy.

Wombat, let me clarify, since apparently you don't get what I'm saying.

I was commenting on Thane's exchange with Des, Tommy, Salami. Whoever was around at the time. It's true that he was pressured a bit and asked a lot of questions. I said that it was a positive thing, IMO, that he was dealing with them in real time. You said that they didn't leave him much of a choice. Which I disagree with. He could have told them to cool it. He could have said he had something to do and then take his time in responding later. He could have self voted and ducked out lol   But he kept responding immediately which gave me a good vibe. It didn't appear to me like he needed the time to make stuff up. I could be off here, but that was my impression.

As it turns out you just posted a final response and took off for whatever you needed to do. So I quoted you to demonstrate one of the things he could have done to prove my point. I was never implying anything in regards to Tommy. Which should be apparent since if I had something to say about that....I would have straight out said it. Suitableness isn't exactly one of my strong suits.

Ok, that makes more sense, but I don't know how alignment indicative it is.

What are you seeing that makes you think he's NOT town?

*drumroll*

Pushing Sili on a weak hunch instead of voting Thane despite being more apparently suspicious of Thane

*drumroll*

Sponging Des on Thane in the first place

*drumroll*

Suggesting we shouldn't expect much D1

*drumroll*

Soft pushing but not really pushing Salami, Hallia, Clov

*drumroll*

Arguing a vapid point with Nyn and FoSing her

*drumroll*

Ignoring power players like AJ, Des, myself

How were his early posts GOOD? His early posts were some of his sketchiest. Because he had a mostly consistent narrative? He's not an inexperienced player; he's regarded as one of the better scummers around DM, self consistency is expected. What's lacking is the... panache.

From what I'm reading in his post, he didn't forget these recent events (by which I assume you mean their conversation). He felt she was town but wanted to be sure, so deliberately voted Leelou to see how she would react. The gambit itself makes sense to me. As for the wording, I don't really know if I can say that it's slimy - I haven't really played with Clov before and don't know what he usually comes off like.

This kind of "trap" is not something Clov is known to do, and it is even less something he would do in sincerity to someone he is friendly with and flirts with. So out of character for him. But you should be able to see how his post reads as... ingratiating. Obsequious. And that's not him. At all.

Other stuff.

I'm following Yates on the GF thing. I feel GF is probably really transparent though (he was last round) so I'll wait for more content from him before making any definitive statements. I can follow Yates's motive though.

Addi seems she'll fit right in here. Just keep on posting and pointing out things you see. I wouldn't considering Clov's vote indicative of anything, necessarily. Could be random but I feel like it isn't - so he'll need to explain there.

It's not.

Feel free to explain then.

I just think we need to roll on her for now.

Fwiw I don't think that Addi post looks that bad when keeping it mind who made it.

I think newer players have a harder time presenting on thread so they come across abrasive. I certainly did my first game.

I'd like to wait her out a bit and keep her talking so see what we can learn.

And there is the D1 new player common courtesy so I'm not going there today.

This is what I've been waiting for.  When I was scum in Tron Mafia, I was trying to push a lynch on Drunk Tank, who was playing his first game here (and not exactly what I'd call a pro-town game).  TG wasn't having any part of what a few of us were selling on DT, citing that doesn't believe in lynching a new player on D1.  When I saw that the replacement player here was someone new to the site, I figured I'd see if TG would be willing to roll on her if she got some pressure.  I'm not going to say he's lock!town because of it, but it helps his chances and I'd certainly be pushing him as scum had he hopped on the wagon.

As for Addi, I actually like her to be town here quite a bit.  She certainly wouldn't be the first person to play up the "confused noob" role, but she has two plausible excuses this game for being more "aware" than your typical noob (two confirmed town mason groups, AND she knows Darthe).  I also like her vote on me.  The reasoning was really bad, but it's her first game...whatcha gonna do?  The reason I like it is that I figure it's pretty unlikely that her teammates would be encouraging her to start a fight with one of the more vocal players in the game using something that could easily be spun as an OMGUS retaliation vote.  Darthe may have townspewed her, too.

Thoughts.

That's not even the same thing. You saw TG exhibiting some courtesy code for newbies in one game and wanted to see if he would do the same in another game or try to mislynch the newibe.

I don't feel like is parallel to what you supposedly claim to have done here, but w/e.

These posts kind of prove my point that there's an inherent cockiness to your thought process and posting that went right out the window when you explained your "gambit" on Lee.

At the end of the day what you did with TG makes sense because you were looking for a pattern. Here you were like... if I poke her and she explodes she's scum. If she reacts calmly and playfully she's town. Well, there are townie that emo and overreact and there are scum that play it cool and get playful. The fact of the matter is you don't even know how Leelou plays as a townie... so this whole gambit DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.

You're right it's not a direct parallel.  I never said it was.  But I think it illustrates I'm more than capable - and willing - to experiment with my vote/reads to attempt to elicit a certain response and make a conclusion on their alignment on it.  I think that refutes Tom insinuating I wouldn't do it.

The fact of the matter is that no one was questioning your ability to gambit or that you may have gambited in the past. It feels like this specific gambit is child play and disingenuous.

Yes, but they don't spend however long discussing how they're going to flip if they roll mafia again for the thirtieth straight time.

If I had just randomly pointed to...say...Alanna or Pral...somebody I DIDN'T have some insight into their mindset, you'd be absolutely right.  But you already conceded that I should have known how she was feeling.  Why would I NOT attempt to use that?
