[Advanced] Blackhoof's Cthulhu Mythos Mafia Game- Day 1

9 players left at the break of night. If we assume only one person dies tonight that's eight. We started with 18 players and 4 or 5 scum. One down thats 3 or 4 left.

Technically the game could be over by daybreak.

(Or at the point during the day where another villager decided to - you know - jump from a cliff)

GG scum

Not liking that our prime lynch suspect brings it up like that though. Reads more like fearmongering than heartfelt concern at this point.

Really Vos, conceding already when it could very well be 3 to 9 at daybreak?  C'mon man, that's weaksauce.  Worst case scenario is scum have multiple NK's (that is my guess for Pral/Des but I would think that would be a one time power) or there is a derpVig or SK and even then, if there are 4 scum, there is still a chance at a doc protect or bodyguard or jailor or something.

Not conceding, just very very frustrated with the suicidal tendencies of town lately.

But yeah, I think we're still good to go. And hey, if we play our cards right we might even still win.

So, my drive isn't gone - but my frustration is also there ;)

Glad to have you back. Thread need some fresh voices.

I cannot see how it is possible for Mynd to be town at this point, and if you are, why would you make up a dream? That is incredibly anti-town.

I don't know what else to say at this point.

Did you answer my question as to what you think might have happened since the mod apparently gave you fake info?

I think that there may have been a lightening rod item used that night.

is it day yet??

no Red its not Day yet, go back to trying to roll a character for your next D&D encounter on Wed  (or maybe Sat if i can talk bubba into it *grins* )

Can you elaborate on this?  I don't see how the lightening rod ability I'm familiar with would really work, so I'm guessing you're thinking something different than me.

Red seems impatient for day to start. This normally wouldn't seem like scummy behavior, but from someone who I already think is scum, it sure sounds like she's waiting to see if her team's NK worked or if she made it another night.

Insanity

From what I've gathered insanity wouldn't have anything to do with it. Insanity affects NA only.

So, you thinking Mynd is town or scum?

Wrong.  Hoof confirmed that insanity does not affect the giving of presents.  However, he stated it does affect the usage of presents since that is considered a NA>

I thought he said it was "moderator-information", not a NA.

In reality, everyone has been busy asking all the wrong questions.

MODERATOR-QUESTION: Does the effect you get from saying Hastur thrice count as a Night-Action, a Gift-usage or something completely different?

MODERATOR-QUESTION 2: Could theoretically Insanity meddle with the effect given by saying Hastur thrice in any way?

This was my theory:  Lightening Rod

The Lightning Rod passively redirects every Night Action to itself. This includes the Mafia's kill as well as all investigations, protections, and so forth.

In games with at least one protective role, this essentially makes the game Nightless until the Lightning Rod dies for whichever reason. Otherwise, this functionally makes the Lightning Rod the designated Night 1 Mafia kill while rendering all other power roles worthless during Night 1.

-Shrivelling: Night-Kill
-Glass from Leng: Watch
-Evil Eye: Turns a player into a Lightning Rod for the night.
-Elder Sign: Protect
-Cursed Stone: Target player Roleblocked and Voteless the next day
-Dominate: Vote Steal
-Voorish Sign: Allows two uses of targeted item in the casters possession. Must be targeted at self.
-Visions of Madness: Drives target player Insane.
-Illusions: Bus Driver- switches all actions targeted to one player to another and vice-versa.

Someone could have used an EVIL EYE item or ILLUSIONS item and it would have redirected my reads to another player.  Suppose that I chose Despo, Wombat, and Dap as my three names.  If someone bus-drove on any one of those players to a scum, I would have gotten that result.  Same thing with lightening rod.  If someone became a lightening rod, all targets would target them.

It is unlikely that a scum would use a lightning rod on their own AND if that were the case, only Lenlo would have died on Night 1.

My current theory is that one of those three was bus-driven with a scum, throwing my information off.

This was N1 right? As far as I've read players who recieved items couldn't use it until the next night.

Can anyone alive who has recieved items confirm if items can be used the same night they were recieved?

In Hoof's defense, lemme confess.   I've been debating this since Despo flipped town but at the risk of making things even worse, here we go.

I made the whole thing up.  I did get a gift from Hastur, but it was a one-shot protection.  I soft-claimed an investigation role on N1 in hopes that it would draw a kill my way.  When Darthe died, based on my own reads from how Red was defending Wombat and how Womby and Despo were involved with lynching Tommy even though Red was sure he was town, I felt like one of those two had to be scum.  So, I fake claimed to have had a dream where at least one of those three were scum.

I figured the odds were in my favor and threw in Dap just for good measure because at the time he was on my bottom list.  I was shocked when Wombat flipped town, but I really knew I was in trouble when Despo flipped town as well.  I began to hear the scum team laughing at my fake-claim because they KNEW it was fake or manipulated in some way.  This is why I am sure that those who went along with my claim without any second guessing are likely the scum team.

Anyways, I'm the sure lynch no matter what.  All I gotta say is I totally DERP'd this one.  I figured we could move the game along with that claim and shake things up, but it really bit me in the arse.  I hope I didn't ruin the game for everyone else.

Those of you who recall, I fake'd this a while back by saying someone whose name begins with A is scum, when we had like 7 players fitting that description.

I think Nyn is scum.  I think Clov actually is legit.  Tglems and Dawn are probably the other two scums.  Dunno.   Anyways, there ya go.

I'll take my DERP FAKE DREAMER siggy anytime you want.

Heh, you had Clov in your top three scum list yesterday, now you're saying he's legit. All Clov did between that time and now was ask you to clarify about the lightening rod. So what caused the 180 on him? the realization that you prolly couldn't get the momentum to mis-lynch him? And then you interchange Clov's name  with a name on Clov's scum list to gain favor. Cute.

You say I played along with you? I was FOSing wombat long before you came up with your dream claim. My vote on him was 90% based on his ISO. Since I had a town lean on Des and null on Rand, I started to seriously doubt your claim once Wombat flipped town. Which is why my vote was on you and not Rand in the last day phase.

You brought up insanity to excuse your false read. You brought up items being used on you. You could see no one was really buying it. Now you're fessing up to lying and we're supposed to just take your word for it because of a gambit you lead in a game in the past? lol Okie dokie. You had the chance to fess up when we got Rand's flip. Instead you kept flailing for an out.

Not buying it.

Stephen Spade was tired of this. After hours and hours of searching, Tallow hadn't been found. He was toying with them, getting them killed one by one. There were so few left. So many had died.

But he would find Tallow, he would avenge his partner, if it was the last thing he did.

Opening another door, Spade stalked into the room, the walls decorated with obscene paintings and gothic, occult decor. Seemingly identical to the dozens of others he had searched through. What sorcery was this, to fit so many rooms and corridors in one house? The amount of ground he had covered, the mansion would have to be bigger than a baseball field. Insanity. He knew that if Tallow could do this, he would only be found if he wanted to be. But he couldn't play his game, he couldn't just sit and do nothing, like done of the others. It wasn't who he was.

The door opened behind him, and he saw a woman enter the room, an odd look on her face. "What do you need, doll face?" Spade asked, taking a puff on his cigar. His last cigar, he realized, grimacing. The woman smiled, and said, "I need.... You, me Spade." She sauntered towards him, swaying her hips seductively. Spade raised an eyebrow. "Look, Wanda, you are a lovely lady, but is this the time for that sort of thing?"

She reached him, holding one hand behind her back. "We may die soon... So why not? You are a handsome man, Mr Spade. You... Impress me."

Spade leaned in close. "You impress me too. Your confidence in your own ability is quite impressive, although you must be mistaking me for a fool if you thought I wouldn't notice the knife you are holding."

Eyes widening in surprise, Wanda raised her knife and stabbed towards Spade's throat as fast as lightning, but he was faster, catching her arm and restraining her other. She struggled, but he was too strong. "Sorry, sweetie."

She snarled, and barked a series of guttural, alien words. Before he could stop her chanting, Spade found himself losing control of his body. "Release me!" She commanded, and against his will, he obeyed. Wanda smiled evilly, and raised her knife. "Now.... Hold still."

Suddenly there was a gun shot, and Wanda fell to the ground with a cry. Spade was released, and he looked to see his saviour standing in the doorway. "Thanks, I was a goner there. Looks like we found a-" His saviour grimaced, and fired again. Spade was knocked to the ground by the shot, and as he felt his life slipping away, he realized that he would never avenge his partner. For him, it was over.

Nervositee, Town Tracker, has been Night Killed!

Nynaeve, Mafia Goon, has been Night Killed!

It is now Day 4!

Vote Count

With 8 players alive, it takes 5 to lynch.
