No. I'm a particularly passionate player and I was trying very hard to solve the game Day 1 because I figured I wasn't going to win and what I really enjoy about Mafia is scumhunting. The reason people let me live as a survivor is that I have a pretty known meta of playing as pro-town as possible in that role simply because I just prefer town winning games in general. I'm a townie at heart - if I have any motivation to help town I am going to.

 

And I got frustrated with Des because he was (turns out intentionally) distancing from me. And I got lambasted all throughout Day 1 for giving out (what turned out to be) really good reads.

 

To the point where from Day 2 on I basically did whatever I could to lead town astray. I realized Hallia was town before EOD1 and even said so and then just loled it away the next phase and let her get lynched.

 

I understand this doesn't really matter because I was SK, but you can ask Nyn whether I faked anything and whether I wanted town to win or not.

I am probably just going to be more conservative with my reads and just lurk more often in general here. Seems to be the best strategy.

I also had literally no idea this forum was so... emotionally stoic.

 

I was never like 100% serious, a lot of it was just the tonal/emotive gameplay I usually play. I'm likely better suited for a forum like 2+2, as sad is that is to admit.

Ok, that explanation makes sense.  My problem is that when you go down that emo path, it just sucks the fun out of the game.  I had no idea if you were really upset, faking, or somewhere in between.  But when I got the impression it was real, it made me avoid the thread.

 

To be honest, I had a large push ready for you on the day you got run up close, and when I came to the thread to make the final push, I saw you had gone emo again (not as bad as the first time, but still).......and I just clicked off the thread.  Didn't even bother posting my push on you.  I had typed it up and emailed it to myself over the weekend to make sure I could easily post it from home.

 

Maybe I just have a pet peeve regarding emo tantrums.  Des and I got into it many times in the past with how he used to throw these - he doesn't do it anymore, and I enjoy playing with him now.  I used to not enjoy it.  Unfortunately, I think you and I are starting off the same way.  Sorry.

 

Obviously, I'm only 1 player, so whatever.  Play how you like.

 

I love to argue and even get "mad" in a game - be sarcastic, douche-y, whatever.  But the complaining and whining just strikes a chord with me and makes me check out.  As an Admin on the site, I get the pleasure of dealing with the "emo" when it gets out of hand.  I play mafia for the fun escape of killing mofos and making fun of them, too....and getting made fun of in response.  All good.  But I can tell it is fake and gameplay with 99% of the people.  As yours was real, well.....it kinda seems lame to use as gameplay.  Hey, maybe 2+2 is next-level mafia and that kind of thing is where the game is headed now.  Oh well.

 

Just wanted you to understand that I don't dislike you or anything.  I think you're a funny dude.  The gifs are priceless.  Hope you have fun here, and grats on the win.

@Cory - That would indicate you faked the tantrum, but you admitted that wasn't the case.  So I don't think you are a troll.

 

Re: emotive play - it works against you as well.  Emotive language often triggers an emotional response from people.  My emotional response was to be annoyed and avoid the thread.  Others may respond in kind to you and slip a scumtell or something in there by accident.

 

It is a playstyle, I get that.  I don't remember seeing many people do that on 2+2, but to be fair I was not playing a typical game there and it contained players from all different sites....so my exposure to 2+2 is not accurate to what it really might be like.

 

I'd love to play a few games there to see it firsthand, but I can't keep up with the activity levels.  As you know, I'm not really online much over the weekend.  In that 1st champs game, the first weekend put me so far behind when I came to the thread Monday morning to find myself 30+ pages behind.  It was insane.  I caught up and started getting really active, and was promptly NKed.  If all 2+2 games are like that, then I probably shouldn't bother.
