The night was cold as the respective members from each country surrounded the bloodied corpse of Cleopatra. Panic filled the air drowning out any other thoughts and giving birth to mass hysteria. There was a killer among them.. In the chaos the was a group who could barely hold back there laughter, their plan where going exceedingly well. All that was left was to rid themselves of Emperor Wen of Sui. He was strong and disciplined and the panic held know sway over him so he saw his attacker as he made his way to him. He tried to protest to make himself heard over the clamoring. To late as he opened his mouth to scream a poisoned blade pierced threw his side just deep enough to seal his fate.. With that the attacker calmly walked away as the toxins over came him.

Wombat Emperor Wen of Sui is dead. Vanilla town.

Augustus saw the emperor fall to his knees.. face turning blue striving to receive the oxygen from the air. he also saw the man striding down the hallway with no cares in the world. He made hast to follow.. he started running and was gaining ground the man must have heard him for he started sprinting and took a right down a passage way. Augustus collapsed in a heap as hell enveloped him, torturous pain running up and down his body starting with his legs.. looking up he saw a different man holding a crossbow and then nothing. his head crashed to the floor with and arrow through the eye.

So in the scene we have a blade and a crossbow.

Do we have a vig that may want to claim that shot? I imagine it is from the middle ages at some point. Poisoned blade could be from any time.

Funny story.

For the first hour of the game I thought I was mafia, because my role PM never actually said the word Town until Amega went back and edited it... so when I went to the Chinese QT and found out Wombat and Dice were my teammates I totally didn't notice that they both told me they were VT. I was all contemplating setup thinking "3 mafia is way too little for a 15 player game, do you think there are 2 mafia teams or what?" and asked the mods to clarify our win condition, and that's when I found out I was town.

I'm the vigilante, and I shot Wombat because he was suggesting in our QT that I shouldn't holster N1 regardless of how good my reads were. I figured at worst, if he was telling the truth, I'd be shooting a vanilla town and avoiding a blind shot on a possible town power role... and maybe help figure out the setup a bit better. Best outcome would be that he was mafia. Go big or go home.

If you want to test the theory about the distribution of mafia on the QTs, our third is Dice. He's also told me he is vanilla town.

How town does it feel to you to encourage a vig not to holster N1? I was leaning toward holstering until I had a better read on someone.

By the time he got around to seeming town to me again with sharing his thoughts in the QT and then on thread, it was done.

Yes, I love being fooled by incredibly town seeming players. Most of the time they are town so I tend to not shoot at them when I am town too.

It feels incredibly town to encourage a vig to shoot when you have a group and really strong collaborative reads.

So you didn't ever want to like... idk... question before taking that shot? Maybe wait before taking a step you couldn't take back? Maybe ask the mods to change it?

It wouldn't be the first mistake I've made playing mafia games. I can get some crazy good hunches sometimes. And some that don't work out for me.

This one didn't work, and at least I owned up to it. Amega and Kaylee can confirm after the game that I predicted that if I was wrong there would be no shortage of people willing to tell me how stupid I am.

Lynch me for it if you prefer, or we can move on and stop playing Monday morning quarterback.

How about you answer Darthe's question first and then I'll answer your question.

Ya know, I never understood why people think this is effective mafia play. At the risk of over-simplification, townies who are hunting scum give valuable information UNLESS it will benefit the mafia more by putting it out there. Scum, on the other hand, refuse to answer questions and try to discredit, distract, and disinform.

Which is Krak doing in this instance? He could have simply answered me. And for what....waiting for something DARTHE asked? I thought the whole point of a mafia team was to pretend NOT to be working together. Anyways, where was I.......ah, yes....

How did you know their whole team? I don't remember them revealing it.

I didn't know and apparently I was wrong about Despo. I suspected that Despo, Womby, and Tress were on a team/Civ/QT together based on our earlier interactions using Anchorman hints. Tress seemed to confirm it a bit later with her read on who she felt was mostly town.

Darthe, you are going to have to do better than that. Your choice in nightkill is very interesting. I thought you would have gone after Dawn or Dice.

Logic does not dictate that I vote you today. There are still 3 Vikings, but only two Egyptians, Chinese, and Greeks. I may be convinced that you are scum, but the TOWN needs to be convinced that all of our QTs are compromised. And the best way to do this is to clear out one civ.

I hate to have to break the news to you, but there have been cases where players have seemed town but turned out to be scum. It's kinda the point of mafia, isn't it?

I actually think Lewis's idea holds a lot of merit now that we see these flips. This is a good opportunity for us to test the mechanics as well now that Womby has flipped and Tress has vetted herself, or at least claimed it.

Darthe - I have serious issue with you being against this idea. It is the most logical way to proceed atm.

I think the Cop turning up dead N1 isn't a shot in the dark either. I would say that there is a scum most definitely in the Romans group, depending on the conversation had in that QT.

@Krak - Is your town read on Nol because apparently you guys share a QT?

How convinced are you that 1/3 players of each faction are scum?

Imo they arent. At least one faction has to not have scum and I think it more likely that one has two scum and then two are empty. Thats how it balances best withthe least swing. Otherwise we could clear two people each time we found the scummer in a team.

Indeed, But perhaps the mods didn't count on Nolder voting for his own Civ partner, which lead to this early revelation.

Had Nolder not voted JackD, he would have died without alerting us that the QTs were compromised, and it would have taken us at least Day 3 or 4 to figure this out unless Tress got lucky with her VIG kill. Even if Nervo got a scum read on one player, it would have been a town vs town WIFOM until someone was lynched.

So, the game would have been well balanced, much like Kivam's double blind game of old, if Nolder hadn't voted JackD.
