Cloud was rolled as survivor and became Santa Cloud. He was given his role PM in advance. He was given a 1xCommuter role (specialty-1) and a 1xOracle role (he was allowed to ask a single question about the actual game setup). This was for thematic reasons (Santa should know what's going on) and to give him a little edge. He wasn't told about BFG, but if he asks, I'll tell him that the host knows Santa is coming.

Btw giving out a role that does nothing is a pretty dirty trick to pull in a Basic game.

 

Are you saying we couldn't even potentially block Cloud?

I studied basic setups (mostly on mafia scum wiki) and some on site. Randomized setups are not guaranteed to have these so-called role-pairs. They may, or may not have.

 

You didn't get all vanilla (as maffia) to muddle things a little. But the placebo RB (or placebo GF) can still cause some interesting game events. For instance, you can kill any doc claim with impunity.

Nope. I was also given an Oracle question and I asked if there was a Roleblocker in the game and then Salami told me that there was a Mafia Roleblocker.

See above. There's no guarantee of any roles. Check out some open setups on mafia scum wiki.

Commuter cannot be blocked. The only thing you could ever block was your own nightkill. Sorry.

For instance, if Cloud ever commuted while being NK'd, you'd have assumed him doc and block+kill (and succeed) next night.

I worked with Salami a bit when crafting this set-up, a lot of the ideas were his though. I claim the Christmas party theme though

 

With 10 town and essentially 3 of them confirmed, we felt that having a cop or doc would've been OP. The red herring with the RB for the mafia team was intentional on Salami's part to keep you guys a bit on your toes. Eventually I figured you guys would figure out it was useless once all the town PRs were on the table and Nolder hadn't been CC'd for his Doc claim.

By the way I really love fixed nights (they also been a necessity because of there being close to zero active roles being out there which wasn't to be found out), but is there a way to make that better? These last ones were too long.

Never take a game issue to PM's again without both parties previous permission.  All you did was confirm Nolders emo. 

 

 

Great game Nolder and Tommy.  Well played.  That doc claimed killed me.  Every bone in my body was screaming Nolder is scum.   Then Tommy's buddying me was triggering as well..but I felt I had to address that after we got 2nd scum.
