Well ... lists always get posted at some point. And people are not stupid - you just arguing for the sake of it I think - shame really. Lists are nice and logical and basically make it quite clear we only have three candidates for Mafia really.

 

I was voting for who I thought was Mafia. I voted for you. You claimed. With one vote. You obviously saw the benefit of not waiting till the end. You knew you were Town so you claimed. It was ok for you to do this.

 

Same as it is ok for anyone else to do this.

 

 

With the numbers as they are, it is pointless to believe that any reason for voting is not going to result in a claim being given. Everyone always claims.

 

And besides ... is more fun to see what Turin/Mish/Panchi will claim I think And Panchi deciding not to is also very interesting. Especially as she has been viewed Town and technically is home free. If she hadn't have posted that I probably would have voted Turin - as I don't think Mish is Mafia.

 

So yes ... more information and seeing what happens. Is fun yes?

 

Two things:

 

1. Saying that "people always do X" is a terrible argument for why you should or shouldn't do something. Just because others do it doesn't mean you should. I know I'm prob in the minority on this, but I honestly find pushing for character claims at the end of games to be a cheap way to victory. Remember seeing the thread recently in this forum about themed games being too easy? Part of that is because people rely on character claims FAR too much. And I never said people are stupid for posting lists, I just don't like the behavior on principle. I get a thrill from posting a really good case that gets others to see things my way, and that helps lead my team to victory. I get zero thrill from lynching someone because they didn't have a safe enough claim.

 

2. People don't "always" claim. If I'm mafia and I think I'm fingered, I usually don't waste time claiming. I claim if I think it will save my hide. Otherwise I'd rather leave any possible good claims to my teammates. As town too, I will either claim as early as possible if my lynch looks inevitable, or else I just won't claim at all (especially if I'm vanilla). There can be more info gained possibly by seeing how people react to a lynch where the lynchee doesn't claim.

 

Pressuring = voting for them yes? I'm quite sure they were going to get voted for anyways. How else would the game have progressed.

You don't know who was going to get voted. You obviously just wanted character claims from everyone. It's not like we were close to lylo or anything.

 

You could have just let the game naturally progress, instead of pushing for claims and jotting down those lists. Once you did that, it was unquestionably game over for mafia. We did fine the past couple of days in just letting people vote for who they thought was scum. I wish we could have continued doing so.

 

But - you should come play my next Game. I won't be in it lol.

The unclaimed people were most likely to get votes IMO. That just made sense. Kind of obvious rather than fortune telling.

 

Reading back it's kind of obvious you were protecting yourself now you have claimed Doc. You painted a target on yourself and everything.

Honestly, I didn't care all that much about protecting my role. I was irritated that you voted me, cause I was serious in that my alignment really should have been clear. I think you let your paranoia get to you.

 

Most of my irritation came from the mass claim thing tho. Or rather, to put it nicer for you, the "pushing for character claims" thing. Takes the fun out of the game for me if it gets that easy.

So to me you could very well have been mafia and have been trying to steer the Cop and Vig away from yourself. Turin just hasn't played and that is really not like him at all. It just isn't. So - I really wasn't feeling that he was Mafia cos I didn't see any possible plots and shenanigans. He just wasn't doing anything

I don't mind playing "too townie" as Doc, especially in a basic game. I think most Doc's like to try and stay crazy hidden... I know there's not too great a chance of me being NK'ed, unless they find out who I am and have a RB'er. And if I AM playing a townie game, peeps aint gonna lynch me

 

But really, I know you know I like to bus a lot as mafia, but you have to admit Dice's lynch did sorta come out of nowhere. No reason for me to push it as hard as I did if I was mafia and our numbers were already so far down.

 

As for Turin, I saw plenty of shenanigans. He's hard to spot at first, but once you've caught the first glimpse it's easier to put other moves of his in the right perspective and gain the full picture. He's not a guy you can easily catch for a slip or big scumtell. You have to catch wind of his big picture play, and see what his motives might be.

They couldve tried killing me last night, but I doubt it. I think they didn't submit a kill on the hopes of making everybody believe Peace the SK was the last anti-town element left.

Anyway. Should I shut up or did people want me to answer some questions or whatever? I know I was a bit sloppy earlier but some context for you; I was at work, and then I was at lunch running about town, and then I was back at work, knowing full well I was nearly hammered by some fairly lazy voting if we are all honest with ourselves, and knowing that I wouldn't have a great deal of time to defend myself. So I just had to get thoughts out there before death. 

 

Having had some time to digest, I am starting...starting to barely... maybe... consider that Peace may be town. Maybe I just don't know enough mafia, in regards to what is traditional and such, but to me he could still be anti town. I know he has cooperated to some extent, but I'm still not certain of it, and I'm curious as to how people are, BEFORE taking into the Cop View.

 

And in regards to that, I would really, REALLY love some answers as to why that took so long to come out. With a case mounting, Hallia could have spoken up at any point during the days we had, and stopped me (and maybe others, can't remember) barking up the 'wrong' tree. And I say days as in 24 hour periods of time, not Day Phase which I'd specify for those playing at home. So yeah, I'm not Hallia's biggest fan for that, and would like some explanation.

 

Desp; to me, a cheap victory would be playing a team not giving their all. We shall put that down to a difference of opinion and move on, but this is mafia. You want to win clean? Just feels like the wrong game. Again, maybe this is me not quite knowing the traditions and such, but I'm here to win, and I support basically ANY attempt to gather info that could help the town, within reason of course. Ithi's plan felt well within reason.

 

Annnnd there was one more thing.

Oh yes, me calling things "interesting".

 

That would be me drawing attention to people and plays. I don't get the argument against me saying this, and of course am all ears if someone wants to elaborate. Looking at you desp.  :P

 

 

So that's pretty much that, I think.

 

Moving forward, well actually I'm not going to say anything in regards to tomorrow, just yet. Let's see what colour Turin bleeds first. I suspect it will be town, but again I think I am on my own there.

It does basically means - I don't think whatever happened there was really all that kosher, but I'm not going to come out and say it because ideally I would like you to elaborate further all by yourself and thus make a silly mistake I can catch you for.

Despo, calling people dense and obtuse is name calling. You are being quite hypocritical in your character claim stance. If they are allowed. Then it is the same as any other tool in the game. Funny that you claimed as quick as you did after the great big grandstanding job you did. Labeling use if character claims as underhanded is very rude IMO. Play as you like but don't tell others how to play. If you feel that strongly about it then just don't character claim yourself... Ever. Maybe you will change culture. Finally, with regard to me and Ithi you can just sthu.
