Cuen'd'eren's Final Fantasy: Favorite FF Characters/Least Favorite FF Characters

Hello and welcome, all my White Tower friends!

One thing that always gets a lot of spotlight whenever Final Fantasy is brought up is favorite characters.  And considering FF's huge and memorable cast, this comes as no surprise whatsoever.  From Fighter and White Mage from the first, to Lightning and Snow in the latest (the first of the two XIII's still counts as the latest in my eye), there are so many that it one can easily find a favorite - or a least favorite.  Come, tell me yours, friends!

Now, ordinarily I'd expect a thread overflowing with Cloud and Squall, but you guys are all more creative than that, right?

I'll start:

My favorite would definitely have to be Cecil Harvey, from Final Fantasy IV fame.

Cecil's story is one of redemption.  As a Dark Knight in the service of the kingdom of Baron, Cecil did some rather unsavory things.  Truth be told, he was even conflicted about it then.  This builds up more and more over the course of his journey, until he becomes a full-fledged Paladin by not raising his sword against his own darkness during a trial.  And he's just plain neat.

My second favorite would have to be Kain Highwind, also from Final Fantasy IV.

Because Dragoons are the coolest things ever; jumping up into the upper atmosphere only to come crashing down on your enemy's head?  Wicked.  And he's also just plain a neat guy.  Kain's own story is also about redemption in a way, but it takes more twists and turns than Cecil's own.

Cecil is definitely my favorite as well.

My favorite of the villians is Kefka, the only boss to plan to destroy the world.....and actually pull it off. Plus, insane clown = win.

Fave boy: Imma have to go with Auron. He cared enough about Braska, that he refused to be sent till he could make sure Yuna finished her quest to find Sin. He took care of Tidus even though he didn't have too. He defeats enemies on his own, is strong and caring even if he doesn't always show it. So yeah Auron.

Fave Girl: Lulu. She's strong, passionate, and can take out a group of enemies on her own, go Ultemia, she cares about Yuna enough to offer to die and become the next sin. She has compassion even if she doesn't always show it. She's just pretty awesome.

Fave Villain: I know this is stereotypical but Sephiroth. I just like him, He didn't start out evil which I think adds to the appeal. He got disenchanted with the world due to finding things out about SOLDIER and such. Plus he's kind of a BA. *G*

Auron's definitely awesome, probably my second favorite, but I've got to go Zack Fair. It's just impossible not to like the guy as far as I'm concerned. The greatest SOLDIER after Sephiroth, a genuinely outstanding person, and such a fun loving guy. And he made the ultimate sacrifice in the end. What more can you ask for?

Also, I never liked the game much, but Fang from FF13 was kind of BA. Maybe it's the accent.

And, yeah, I know it's boring, but I can't really go against Sephiroth, especially once you learn his backstory.

Auron is probably my most favorite. He just had that cloud of badassery floating around him. Oh the puns

For a female I would have to go with Yuna. She gives her life up and goes on a mission to save the world. I really can't add more to why I like her without major spoilers. But if you play X all the way through, you see her true colors and just how strong she is and her resolve, and what she is willing to sacrifice.

I actually think that Caius from XIII-2 is the best Villain. Yes even better than Sephi (ducks behind a desk) This is basic storyline you get right off the beginning so it's not spoilers. He is driven insane by love and the pain of seeing the one he loves die over and over. His only way to free her from the immortal torment is to destroy the Goddess, which in turn destroys the world. Plus the fact that he's Immortal and can turn into not one, but three massive Bahamuts is kinda full of win.

Most annoying : The entire cast of XII except for Balthier. I just wanted to shoot Fran and Vaan whenever they talked.

Yuna's definitely pretty cool in her own way. Silk hiding steel you could say.

I actually didn't mind Fran that much. But Vaan, Penelo and Ashe? Dear lord they were annoying. Basch was ok, nothing great. Balthier was definitely the saving grace of that cast.

I forgot to post my least fave...Vaan by the gods I hated him so much! Ishy was joking he would dress up as Vaan and my eye started twitching just thinking about it. By Odin I hate him!

I don't think anybody liked Vaan.  I only played Duodecim Dessidia with him in it, and I still loathed him.

Not very many responses, but it seems that there's a definite theme in the likes and dislikes of this board.  Good topic!

I didn't hate Vaan, but I wasn't a huge fan either. And I don't hate XII as much as everyone else does, but it's definitely the weakest entry of the Playstation era. It did have good aspects, the Yizamat and Omega Weapon battles may just be the hardest fights in FF history along with Ozma from IX.

I honestly can't think of a playable character that I actually "hated." I wasn't a big fan of Kimarhi or Yuffie, but I didn't hate them.

I really liked the XII. Definitely prefered it to XIII. The characters may not have been great, but I found the story to be far more interesting than the others. It wasn't a simple "must defeat bad guy story". The Empire isn't all that bad, there are people on both sides trying to prevent a war, Vayne actually has a point when he's trying to take their fate back from the Gods. It's about doing what's best for the world as a whole rather than what is best for you, which is why Ashe eventually refused to claim the nethicite and refused to become another dynast-king (or queen rather) and a pawn for the Gods.

Then again I had kill Zodiark a second time, because I managed to die on my way back to the save point. So I'm not liking it so much at the moment.
