Hey Folks,

While I just signed up for a new Mafia game (I liked the theme, it's not my fault :( ) I would really like to get Mod experience and see what it's like on the other side. If anyone is looking for a Co-Mod or for anyone to help out in their game (or even is toying with an idea for a new game) I'd be happy to work with them.

I probably can think of some cool themes as well but don't have enough knowledge to fully construct a game myself.

Thanks!

Not sure I have enough knowledge on all the roles to do this properly but I guess I should probably start with a more basic game right?

i modded my first game (the PJ one) and all the roles are in the wiki, and if you can handle an advanced you should give it a try

Nothing wrong with getting a bit of insight before you give a shot. Not sound like a d*ck but if you mod a game and it's a complete failure you're also wasting the time of the players. Definitely not saying it's going to be a failure though! If you do choose to mod a game then I could help co-mod it if you wanted :) Ithi generally does a great job so you could ask her.

I've technically only ever done one game myself - but it was a blast

Got my second one coming up soon-ish, seeing as I can't keep putting it off forever lol - but I have co-modded quite a few. I figure people just like having their game post count boosted

if you can't get a co-mod position then run a basic game first. modding a game is fairly simplistic at its core and a basic game is nothign but the core of modding. the reason why advanced games are harder, is dealing with all of the NA's.

rule #1 for modding is to be active in your game. if the mod isn't actively keeping the game up the game will fall to pieces reguardless of how active the players are. vote counts are your activity. you want atleast one per DM page and i try to do one after 5 or more votes/unvotes.

if you do go with just running a basic game and want a 2nd pair of eyes and someone to console on what you need to do and if your doing it properly feel free to PM me or another experienced mafia mod

if you're set on a co-mod experience, which can be great hands on, i have a basic game and an advanced game in the cue. let me know if you want to sit in and see and i'll let Womby know.

This.

Listen to the ones telling you to Mod a Basic game first. There is nothing like learning the basics before moving on to more advanced games.

Especially if you are new to the game itself. Generally, it's best to play a few games before you mod, anyways. Just so you can get a feel of how games go and what all goes into it.

Lol and here's me going straight into it with an advanced game soon  But I have a LOT of free time (no work; disability) so I think that's gonna be just fine :P Plus I'm running it with Des.

I will add a caveat that co-modding as more of a helper than running the game is good, no matter how much experience you have so far. In my opinion, anyways.

Mish...where is Desp?

Start with a basic game...work from there.

You should not do an advanced game until you do a basic.  It takes way more time than you'd suspect.

This. I have run two advanced games, and it is a lot of work. I ran two basic games prior to even designing any advanced ones, and I don't think I could have worked out a proper advanced setup without the basic modding experience.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I think I will plan out a basic game and go from there. Red, if the offer still stands I'd like to sit in on the mod side of one of (or both!) of your games, or help out in any way I can.

Now for a really fun theme... Oh I think I just got one! Sweet.
