This is something that has come out a lot recently in other areas of my life, especiallya s I'm having the difficulty with finding a teaching job for English but.....I could have become a professional musician by playing flute and piccolo. Not a lie either, I was told by both of my high school band directors, both of my flute teachers, and many of my flute judges - and then I just up and quit to become an English teacher but am starting to think about taking up my flute again just as a side dealio.

I scan top played songs on satellite radio to figure out what songs are good, then I download them.  My friends are always impressed that they hear good music from me a couple weeks before it hits mainstream radio :-)

...I have an obsession with eyebrows.

Like, I don't know how long it will last, but right now, just...

Can't say that I expected that!  I have a 130lb rescue.  We rescued him at 4 weeks old and he fit in one hand.  No idea he would grow to be so large, but he is a part of the family and a great, great dog.  Very cerebral, will sit there staring out the window all day long.  Part lab part mastiff.

my first dogs were police dogs as we called them then, German sheps. and there was one Dane mix.

the first dog I was old enough to call mine was a huge St. Bernard. he was mine and not my family's bc he'd protect me before, and from, them. there was always a big dog in the house when I grew up, that would be mine, and a fancy little one like a toy poodle and a yorkie and such, those would be moms.

I chose wisely, or they did :)

I raised sheps, bred them, as an adult. lots of them. did one litter with a wolf hybrid. long story short... don't do that. they can open locks and they're smart enough to understand and resent their captivity. beautiful tho. scary.

only had dogs until... I think I got my kitties in 2004... maybe 2002 but I'd rather think they're younger.

I had a friend who raised both wolves and wolf-dog hybrids.  He told me many stories of how amazing they are, smart, attentive, everything.  But he also told me that around the 1 year mark you keep a baseball bat with you at all times.  The wolf will attack you for supremacy and you have to beat it with intent to kill until it gives up otherwise it can kill you.  He told me of a few he thought he had beaten to death.  After the challenge and the wolf knew it's place in the "pack" they were the most amazing creatures for the rest of their lives, but it does make one think about the brutality of the animal kingdom that we shield ourselves from.

they had standoffs with the dogs and had no chance, they were outnumbered. they never bonded with us except to hide near us. they looked or escape constantly until they found it.

they were frighteningly smart, and yeah attentive, they never took their eyes off anything. they looked at everything like they were puzzling something out.

they weren't pets and they knew it.

the other dogs did the dominance thing... we had 15 adults, and 5 of the hybrids. I don't beat animals, it wasn't my idea to raise these. like the foxes and minks, I'd have let them free. but they got free on their own. never saw them again once they took off. probably joined a coy-dog pack or ran far. the farmers never complained so I'd guess the latter.
