That's why I asked, because right after you said that I checked all the mafia signups and you weren't in any of them.

I think it's adorable that he's keeping up the pretense.

The first thing I did when I decided to sign up for a mafia game (a basic game about nature with Leelou hosting, Blackhoofs ghost town mafia, and Ithi's revenge of the sith all at the same time) was that I read the recently finished Hemalurgic Spike Mistborn Mafia game and signed up for the BT.  I then followed the link to mafiascum there and read through all of the basic roles and the intro guide to mafia, including basic strategy and goals of the game.  Then I started playing and attempting to get a feel for the style that felt most natural to me.  My win/loss streak typically isn't great on DM but I have found that I do better on other places and that DM has the strange ability to be both more verbose and less focused than other sites, in addition to having far shorter deadlines.  With that in mind you have to compensate to the meta-goals of the individuals you are playing with me thinks.

For instance, on DM nobody considers another individual confirmed or cleared for practically any reason.  I think that is a bit ridiculous considering, but trying to fight something like that here ends with you dead and no gain most often.

Those other sites probably have much larger bases and a more transient nature than DM.  DM being smaller and more static lends itself to building a culture.  That would explain the differences.  I like DM better than places like Mafiascum.net.  At least the pace of the game here is much much better.
