Currenty I'm thinking Razen is scum. Two reasons: 1) the block with no kill and 2) I had forgotten he was even in the game until the last post count. By my count he's two away from a lynch. I'd like to hear anything he has to say before putting him at L-1.

i haven't read hunger games, but i'm likely gonna be buying the series soon. so i cant say whether or not its in comparison to my main beef with Twilight and Bella.

 

yes the book is "romance" but i take issue with a character being proped up as a literary character young girls should look up to. she goes from having her own identity, to her identity being Edward. she goes from being indapendent to not being able to live without him. while this does realistically happen with young girls (as any woman can attest to) those sorts of relationships never end good for the female. they either end up as a battered woman, or they end up as a 40 year old divocred woman with no self identity and her husband leaving her for a 20 something.

 

 

and while bella can be somewhat excused because shes only 16; in 50 shades the character is my age for crying out loud. at 26 years old, you do not allow yourself to be controlled in that fashion and it shoudlnt' be held up as being okay in society. as Despo said, it sets womans rights back to the 1920's and 1950's. and 50 shades takes a step beyond consinting sexual domination to controlling the females life in almost every aspect. and even worse, Christain is manipulative enough that she is not only okay with it but comes to think parts of it are her idea. and he uses sex as a means of control and means to get his way.

 

like i said, it just rubs me the wrong way.

 

 

and sex may sell Ishy, but i've read enough smutt to tell you, you can have a hot expeclit scene with the woman becoming empowering over a controlling ass of a male and her being in a healthy relationship where there is mutal respect and no one controls the other.

I disagree with you Red, that such relationships never end good for the female. Niki and I were both independent before we met each other, but if you asked both of us I'm pretty sure we would both give you the same answer: that we couldn't live our lives without the other.

 

You can be independent in one sense, yet completely dependent on someone romantically in another sense at the same time.

 

And I highly doubt that Niki will end up as a battered woman or a 40 yr old divorcé, or that I'll leave her for someone younger.

but thats differnet than what characters like Bella and Ana promote. Bella cannot live without Edward. she lives, breaths and has to be with him. Edwards IS her identity.

 

 

its that type of relationship that i cringe at. and it sickens me to think young girls are growing up, looking at this sort of relationship in likely one of their favorite books, and thinking its okay to be that reliant and dependant on a significant other.

i may be heart broken if i didn't have bubba, but he's not my identity and i know i coudl live without him, how ever sad i woudl be.

 

 

Bella OTOH, goes as far as to purposefully do things that almost end up getting her killed just so her subconcious would give her Edwards voice and so she could picture him telling her not to.

 

 

and Ana, she allows Christian to totally control her life. he tells her to eat, she eats, he orders for her at resturants, tells her how much she can drink, tracks her GPS on her phone. this sort of stuff. its just not healthy or something that should be held up as a good example. and the worst thing is, she thinks FNDLY of this type of behavior!!

new boss?? i only started playing a few weeks ago. i know theres a quest to go to the Nether and then defeat the dragon. but hell, i'm still tryign to get some diamonds

 

 

i've heard the dragon is hardish to beat though. for me, this game is less abotu bosses and quests and more about the mining and creating. i have enough RPGs for the quest stuff

And, red, some advice for diamonds. Dig down to y 10 or so, and then just dig to the side in a 2x1 hole until you find a cave/mine/diamonds. Look at the lowest levels of caves/mines for diamonds.

Actually I too liked the Twilight books the second one was annoying but the other were good the movies not so much
