You know,. I'm so tempted just to pick Bengels, in the off chance they win so I can go 'Hahaha!" but..

I dunno, i'm fairly behind so...

Broncos.

The Broncos are the smart play in that they will win, but if you are worried about being behind, going against the grain to at least try to make up points could be a better angle.

Sure, if I weren't 3 weeks behind, but if this game is almost guarnteed win, then, they will almost assuredly gain 5 points. Whereas, if I went 10 points, I could win, or i could lose. (50/50 as far as I care) If I win, I'd make up 10 points, and be closer to the breach, if Lose, i'd be behind, yet again, another points. (4 weeks)

To put it another way.

If theres a safe bet in any week, its safer to take the safe bet.

But if there is no safe bet, thats when you should gamble it, everyone has a chance to lose.

Nay, I think i'll take the safe bet this week, and make up the loss next week..

Well, Week 8 proved to be an easy win for some and at least a little interesting for others. SamVimes and Mr. Soy Boyo tossed the dice with the Hail Mary pick of Arizona over Green Bay. GB ended up winning it 31-17 after Arizona kept it interesting through the early 3rd quarter until a 72 yard TD by GB sealed the win.

This week's winners all took the Broncos to win over Cincy, even though the Bengals did not make for as easy of a win as expected. Those winning 5 points are: Hax, Ishmael, Sinister Death, Balefired-ed2, and WWWWWWombat.

Player List

Ishy - 30

Hax - 15

Red - 15

Balefire-ed2 - 15

SD - 13

Boyo - 13

Sam - 10

Wombat - 08

Rand - 08

Troilen - 00

Kovan - 00

Week 9

2-Points

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. KC Chiefs (Steelers favored by 12 1/2)

San Fransico 49ers vs. St. Louis Rams (SF favored by 11 1/2)

3-Points

Oakland Raiders vs. Baltimore Ravens (Ravens favored by 7 1/2)

Tennessee Titans vs. Miami Dolphins (Dolphins favored by 6)

New York Jets vs. Seattle Seahawks (Seattle favored by 6 1/2)

Denver Broncos vs. Carolina Panthers (Peyton Manning favored by 4)

5 Points

Chicago Bears vs. Houston Texans (Chicago favored by 1 1/2)

Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Eagles favored by 2)

Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings (Lions favored by 2)

10 Point Hail Mary

The biggest dog this week is the Kansas City Chiefs who are dog to the Pittsburgh Steelers by 12 1/2. So pick the Chiefs to win for 10 Points.

How is this for an idea to keep the game going a little longer.

At the end of the regular season, the top six in the standings are in the playoffs.

Starting in the wild card round, by standings, each person is allowed to pick one team to win.

Once a team is picked, they are off of the board for everyone else, that way the regular season standings matter.

One person is eliminated in the wild card round, one in the divisional round, two in the conference championship round, and a champion is crowned in the Superbowl.

We could run into trouble by multiple people picking teams that lose in the first two rounds, but that is easily fixable. In that event, the person who lost by the most points with the spread included is eliminated.

Whaddya think? I like this idea because it gives people a reason to still be shrewd with their picks in hopes of making the playoffs instead of constantly taking huge risks on the hail mary in an effort to jump to the top. At the same time those who were Ishmael Forsaken are still rewarded for their consistent success in the regular season.

Sounds interesting, Bale. My only question would be the Super Bowl. You have two people picking one game. So what if they want to pick the same team?

Other than that, let's put it up to a vote from the Players. Anyone else in favor of this Playoff Edition Pick'em?

What we did last year during the playoffs was let the players use their points as wagers. Say if they had 100 points during the regular season they could bet up to 100 points on a team. If they bet those 100 points they and win thy then have 200 and so on. Whoever has the most points at the end wins.
