Question about the Gholam

Why would it care about Olver. Besides, the child is not close to Mat so much as a Band of the Red Hand minion.

I'd have to disagree, as Mat has put Olver's well-being ahead of his own a few times. Also, while Moridin may not necessarily care about the child, he's tasked the forsaken with finding/killing Mat and Perrind however possible, and someone would see Olver as good leverage for a trap or something.

I would argue that he seems more a favourite follower of the band, not a person who hold special interest for Mat, although I would have though a DF among the band would have reported that

I think Mat's connection to Olver is as close as Mat can come to feeling paternal at this point. He's only recently discovered (much to his own chagrin) that he's in love with Tuon. If you look at how he's treated anyone else in the series, Olver is the only person with whom Mat does things without regard for his own ends. Sure he helps people (and is one of my favorite, most well-defined characters in the series), but he usually has some sort of angle, except when looking out for Olver.

As much as Olver's been in the books, I have a feeling he's got a HUGE roll to play either in the LB or in the epilogue, whether a tool used against Mat or something else.

Wouldn't it be awesome if Olver was Demandred? lol

I disagree, about the angle part. I think Mat does the most of any character for no reason. He has an amazing sense of honor and will go above and beyond to help someone who is weaker than him. It's quite astounding for someone so many people consider quite a scoundrel.

As to Olver, Remember the world in which they live, hell the world in which we live. The Forsaken probably dont pay much attention to children, even ones that hang around the camp. Tuon was not only a useful pawn to use against Mat, she had her own political power. To most outsiders, Olver is just some snot nosed brat that Mat keeps around him. The Band takes care of him the most, they probably see him as a squire in training.

I'm not saying Mat isn't honorable, but i think part of the attraction to his character is we all usually have some form of "what's in it for me?" in the back of our heads, and he comes by it honestly, maybe even using that nature sometimes to mask his natural good intentions.

I still disagree on Olver. A standard way for any antagonist in popular stories to separate themselves as being truly evil instead of just misunderstood is the use of children as leverage. Coupled with the Forsaken's potential knowledge of what the boy might mean to one of the three most important champions of the Light, i still would have to assert that Olver would be a key pawn for any Forsaken trying to entrap or leverage Mat. Mat himself is important enough that you don't need "bait" with political ties of their own.
