Idk, I don't really buy it. I think it was just the TV show trying to somehow reflect the comics but at the same time they are missing it all together. At least in the comics she had a more than justified reason with the abuse and being forced to fight and what not. But what had he done to her personally thus far on the show to deserve an attack like that? It's not like she was aware of his daughter and his "wall" of entertainment until she was actually in his room

@Andrej

I'd pretty much agree.  I know that some people get annoyed when they haven't read the book and I'm constantly making comparisons, but yeah, that part lacked the steam of the book by a long shot.  Finding his daughter chained up shouldn't shock her that much after she dragged those two guys around in chains for forever.  It was the rape in the comic that caused her to end up attacking him, and though I wasn't really anxious to view that part, it did make less sense when they just left it out but still kept here vehemence toward him.  In general, I've found the Governor a lot less creepy on the show, or at least his creepiness has been largely implied rather than shown.  I recall him seeming a lot more extreme and somewhat less suave in the book.  People seemed more desperate than they do on the show and it didn't feel unnatural that they'd flock to a guy who offered any security even if he seemed a little nuts.  I like Morrison's acting, but Woodbury hasn't seemed nearly as realistic on the show to me.  It seems over the top with the Pleasantville vibe.  It makes Rick's group look like the only ones with brains and the rest of those people like bovine nincompoops.

Well,it is the first episode of the 'mid-season' can't expct them to have a huge amount of tension on that mid-season episode!

I did notice one glaring mistake in the show....

Why is the grass, on that road side...

So well trimmed?

Its almost 1 year after the zombies came about...

Why isn't that ditch, full of 3 foot long grass? As 'warm' as their weather is? My god! Some parts o f the country that grass could bea s tall as a person!

The only place that looked closer to reality (in refrence to grass) is the freaking jail-yard! But thats... Probably because they are useing an actual-run-down jail-house for the show!....

And... What are they going to do about food? someones got to start up some kind of farming operation, canned food, and other stuff... are highly perishable.. If no one gets any kind of farm in the works.. No one will live in that region for another year! (barely even winter!)

Now I admit it's been a few months so maybe I'm forgetting something but wtf is up with Maggie?

As I recall after their escape she was fine and the next thing I know Glenn is going to get her to help him do some recon and she's sulking in a prison cell.

Then she gets mad at Glenn for some reason? Whaaa? Did I forget a scene where Glenn was an asshole or something? Like I don't get how they went from Couple of the year (not hard to do when your competition is Rick/Lori, Deryl/Carol, and Gov/Andrea but still) to her slapping and pushing him when he tried to apologize for...I still don't understand why he was apologizing actually.

Side note: who was the person who drove the van full of walkers into the prison and what happened to them after they got out of the van?

Yeah it's only been a few days for the characters though. And Maggie was essentially raped (yeah I know the governor didn't have sex with her but in every other way the experience was the same). Who really knows exactly what is happening in her head, but it seems like she associating glen with that experience and it can't be pleasant to be reminded if something like that, especially when that reminder is someone that you love. As to mystery driver probably just a flunkie suited up so they didn't get bitten.

As for the rest, I think it's finally starting to heat up. There's definitely going to be some drama with Merle returning, though him helping save Rick at the end may help ease that. I also think that this attack is going to snap Rick out of it. I also hope we haven't seen the last of Tyrese and his crew.

Maybe. If that's the case then it's a major step backward for her character. This season she was introduced as someone who is capable and self sufficient. A strong character. If almost rape throws her off this much she's back to being a weak character. And after being able to hack zombies up with a machete it just doesn't jive.

Maybe we'll get more on this next week though to clear it up. I hope that's not what it is though.

The trauma from rape doesn't come from the physical act of intercourse. Sex is sex the body can handle sex. The trouble comes from the mental and psychological aftermath. The complete and utter loss of control, the knowledge that in that moment there was nothing you could do to stop the other person from doing whatever they wanted to you. So in every respect, except physically, she was raped. Let's not forget that just after that she had a gun pointed to her head. And yes she lives in a world where she faces death every day, but that's from walkers which are essentially animals. There's a big difference between fighting walkers and facing death then having a gun to your head with no way to stop it.

If anything she proved incredible strength by not shutting down completely. Let's not forget she was out there in the fire fight at the end of the episode.

You're missing my point which is that she was built up to be a strong character and now they've torn her back down. It's a step backwards in character development and if she doesn't snap out of it ASAP she's going to be up there with Lori in the characters I hate category.

Yeah pretty lackluster episode.

I liked Hershell's outburst and reminder to rick that if it's going to be a dictatorship he needs to get in the game and dictate.

Also I have a feeling that I'm going to end up liking Merle.

He's going to pull a Vegeta I can feel it.
