What keeps someone from claiming the wrong FF? How do you ferret that out?

I think Kae was very kind to you. You said about claiming which game your character came from and she did say in the Thread that this would count as a reveal. You then revealed anyways.

 

When you were asked about this you had a moan at Kae and she changed her mind, but the rest of us who were unhappy did not know that she would do this.

This was another statement that I had brushed off despite the vote (I'm surprised I don't start D1 with more than one); but its design caught my eye.

 

Impressions: People are attacking alanna. Does not make sense. Smacks of word twisting and scummy things. Mynd is being mynd, but that doesn't mean he can't be scum. Ishy i'm not sure about. The odds are against him being scum... Which means that its just possible. Red is being red, throwing FoS's everywhere. I don't see a case on her. I'm going to VOTE MYND to even the trains up and because one should never trust a mynd.

 

Maw had made a statement earlier that caught my eye, using a pretty common lynch case technique I like to call the scum sandwich. He starts off with a vague accusation about his target (me in this case), then makes a few statements about other players scumminess and then defends them in those same statements, to give off the illusion of actually casing other players, then returns to his vote on his target (me).

 

What are his reasons? As stated, 1) to even the trains up and because 2) one should never trust a mynd.

 

Let's take the second one first. No one should trust anyone else in a mafia game until endgame. Even a finder should never be 100% sure of their results, especially in epic games such as this with multiple roles. To state that one should never trust me is accurate, but that same statement can be made for anyone. Hell, I don't trust myself sometimes in these games. The first person to say they completely trust another player should be the first one lynched IMO.

 

The first statement baffles me. This evened the trains up? What trains? All ten of them? Is this a joke? Perhaps it is. Perhaps Maw's vote is simply a "Day 1 joke vote" type deal, but then why the overcompensation in its justification? If it is a joke vote, then why the need to appear to be doing a proper casing?

 

Maw defends an apparent attack on alannalynn, to which even AJ replies "HUH?"

 

Maw says that the odds of Ishy being scum are low. Srsly? What exactly are the odds again of one being scum? Oh right, exactly the same as anyone else in this game.

 

Maw says that Red is being Red. Not exactly. In fact, she is cold-footing this game compared to her normal WOT that would make Robert Jordan blush. Red is high on my list right now because she's only made one casing post, the rest have been coy spam, like she is covering up for something. I contend that Maw didn't read anything Red said, and simply made that statement in order to dismiss anything she says.

 

The problem with the belief that Day 1 is random is that it causes a mob mentality of "lynch whoever as long as it isn't me" which is dangerous to the town. We have plenty of time to make a decision, yet this early in the game, many of us are comfortable with sitting back and waiting until near deadline to bandwagon, which obviously only helps the scum. I am considering in the next game I mod making deadline 6 hours from the start of the game.

 

So let's agree on a plan. One based on logic and town oriented. Lets not hand Day 1 to the scum because we are all skurred to be lynched first.

Perhaps those of you who were unhappy about it have something to hide.

 

Kae is kind and generous, but don't mistake her own logic and reasoning for doing me any kind of favor. That's bordering on questioning her fairness, which is an insult to the mod. Kae made her decision because it was the right and fair call to make, not because it was any kind of generosity. And if her decision was to count it as a reveal, why would that upset you?

Nothing at first, but as you know, making a claim pins one to it to endgame. As finders and coroners reveal info, a scum lying about their FF will likely eventually be hung by it at some point. There are only so many main characters (good/bad) in each FF, so as we progress, it will likely become evident who is a LLL and who isn't in regards to their claim. If I claimed to be from X-2, and Paine, Rikku, Yuna, Gippal, Nooj, and Taylor Hicks were already revealed or claimed in some way, would you still believe me to be town? Judging by my character and that this game likely covers all of the 13 FF games, It would be reasonable to assume only major characters are in play.

If none counted your premise holds no water. If going forward they will be counted the mynd has to answer to that.

Maw's scum sandwich post wasn't a cognitive thing. Its human nature to try and overcompensate for where we are lacking, we do so subconsciously. When you break down Maw's vote, whether it was me or anyone else, it simply has no real tangible basis at all. In fact, its almost like he cut/pasted past arguments made in other games into one paragraph. He tosses in three other players but then justifies their actions in the same sentence he mentions them, even defends AJ in a way that even made her question where he was going with it.

 

The trains thing was really odd though. Unless he meant we should have 10 one vote trains, that statement seems sloppy.

I will consider revealing which game you are from as one of the 3 reveals per day. The reason for this is one of my last games almost broke due to a mass reveal, and I don't want that to happen here.

 

Not going to question the Mod, but I think telling what FF game you were in is a far cry from outright revealing. Still, I will conform to the rules. I do beg the Mod to consider my "reveal" as null in light of this not being clear and wide open to misunderstanding. I'm sure many would agree that saying one is Rikku and saying they are from FF X-2 is a lot different, so I would beg the Mod to give us a mulligan in this case.

 

i swear i saw Kae post something about revealing what game your character is from counted as a reveal, but going back and looking i can't find it so i retract that.

 

since Kae isn't counting the type of reveals your asking for i retract half my FoS but is still don't liek the thought of a mass reveal of any sort. imo it ruins the spirit of the game, causes more confusion than helps and outs more important town roles than traps scum. hence my reason for voting you. also, i dislike how your pushing the envelope with this reveal thing and making it the focus instead of normal scum hunting; it feels like a diversion and distraction.

 

i also dislike pushign the envelope with reveals on thread, take it to PM with Kae if you want to see how far you can step on the line. given the reveals are limited, that makee me want to be even more miserly with them than normal and i don't want our reveals being "accidently used" in case we need them.

So, I've read through this. Most of it's not very interesting. Let's not get too caught up in characters, since that's limited by the mod anyway, and instead play mafia.

 

Why do people think that voting for Mynd is a good idea? I jokevoted Mynd, and since then he's had two more 'to even up the trains'. That's not playing mafia, that's voting for no reason.

Meh, day one in the game with no pressure and no clue of the games mechanics is a very poor time to reveal anyhow. Three per day is a limit, not a goal. My opinion on this is that it was, once again, Mynd's way to get the game moving so we have things to look back on. Notice that he has been quiet since. I think that many of your responses have been more indicative of your goals than his statement, which essentially meant nothing. In that regard I suppose it is a success.

Mynd we've been over this in every game now (this makes it 5 btw) my play style has changed, i'm not as active as i used to be nor do i post the amount of WoTs i used to. your meta on me is out dated. each time you've used this meta to lead a case on me, you've lynched me as town. i suggest an upgrade bro.

 

also, i've tappered off my posting in this game due to the PR, this will stop once Day ends; but as i dont' play the game due to it being turn based (nor have i seen the movie) i'm limited in my knoweldge about the franchise.

 

 

Final Fantasy is awesome because the movie had steller and ground breaking CGI!!
