I am really curious why Mynd thinks everyone has power roles in a basic game.

Well what kind of an X-Man has no powers? You call that a regular schmuck. A super hero with no powers is kinda pointless. Wouldn't sell many comics either I'd think.

I think that the mafia might not have any powers...maybe they just have the night kill. I like how AK is defending BG here.

He was born just a simple Ice Cream cone....until one day, evolution jumped ahead and it mutated into the VANILLA AVENGER!!

With the mutant ability to have no powers in a mafia game about people with powers!!!

Let's review what a basic game means: cop, doc, scum team and a possible SK or cult. You know the set ups as well as I, Mynd. If everyone had powers, it wouldn't be a basic game.

Lets review that I obviously disagree because...

.....

.....

....wait for it....

....

....I have a power that is not among any of those!

@gill Please don't take offense. I call em like I see them. The point is looking for cracks in peoples arguments and exposing them. Mafia will lie lie lie about everything, including emotion. That's kinda the point.

@aemon... I've seen some wacked out "Basic" mafia in my day. I wouldn't put it past Kae to liven up a basic game with many roles... that being said, I could see X-men like Beast being vanilla... his looking all blue and hairy isn't much of a power. His brains have nothing to do with the mutation.

well im pretty sure this dosent apply to xmen but batman iron man and captain america have no real powers

Actually, Cap has superhuman strength, speed, and everything else that was in the supersoldier cocktail.

Tony Stark is persuasive and has a brilliant mind.

Batman has his charming personality.

And none of them were mutant X-men.

If there are crazy powers out there and if most of the players are roled, there is no way this can be called a basic game. This board has categories set up just so people can run different game types. There are basically three set ups for a basic game that are permissible on this board and none of the have more on the town side than a cop, a doc and a vig. I'm calling BS on Mynd for claiming to have a super awesome power.

Its not fair!!!!!! WAAAAHHH!

Easy sugar. If you are also a vanilla townie, then we need to take this serious. I for one know I am not a cop, doc, or vig, and Im no bloody mafia either. Are you claiming to be vanilla as well?

WoT inbound.

and on that note why YOU see ME as such a threat I don't know

no not a threat, i've been harping on you about the same thing. provide a case against me for why i shoudl be lynched that ISN"T META. i dont' think this is too much to ask you know

it's only one vote but you're doing your damnedest to discredit me

not tryign to discredit you, trying to show you why lynchign me woudl only lead to another townie loss. if your town, i'd prefer you to get over you obvious infatuation with lynchign me and move onto greener pastures. i can't do this if i don't have a case to agrue agianst now can i

a townie would eventually just shrug it off as not worth their time and continue to scumhunt wouldn't they?

yeah, except for the fact that in every post you keep advocating my lynch. kind of hard to ignore that. and if i had ignored you, you'd be yowling that i'm trying to sweep your accusations under the rug and call me scummy for that.

let's look at the ways you're trying to discredit me and my vote in a single post

1. claiming you're not worried about my vote when you clearly are

sure, cause calling for a case based on soemthign more than meta is a wierd request right.

2. claiming I can't back up my vote with a "legit" case

of which i have yet to see. Meta isn't a legit reason to lynch someone, especially with a person who makes a point to play the same reguardless of alignment or role

3. claiming my case is something other than it is (scared of you vs my actual case posted here[/url)

show me where you've pointed to anything acutally game related that didn't depend on Meta to get info from it, cause all your points rely on Meta to make them valid. Meta which is riddled with holes so big two semis could driv through it side by side

4. discrediting the use of meta

because imo, it's not smart to lynch based souly off Meta, which is what your doing, you'll snag more town than scum.

5. claiming meta doesn't work on you

it doesn't because i play the same. the point of Meta is being able to determine a difference in play style when soemone is scum and when someone is town. Mynd lynched me in another game claiming my Meta screamed scum. guess what, i was town. you'll learnt he same lesson here.

6. claiming my vote on you is personal

acutlaly, i'm chaning this. my Meta on you says that by now you would have had a decent case invlolving more than Meta. as you haven't supplied this, i'm thinking your being forced to vote me and are tryign to make it obvious without being so obvious. so for now, i'm ignoring you. but coninue this D2 and i'll be back on you quick than flies on a turd.

you're doing everything and anything to shake me off and make me look bad but it's not going to work

There are couple of things that are bugging me right now. I haven't seen anything to support Nolder's mantra of "lynch Red now", but the chant goes on. Another thing that struck meas odd was Nolder wanting everyone who got a PM from BG to PM him to "make sure BG told everyone the same story". There are several things wrong with that. 1) why would BG send out a different role claim to each person if he is trying to get out of being lynched? 2) Why is Nolder so anxious to find out who BG trusts besides himself? 3) Why would Nolder confirming that everyone received the same message be of any help at all when Nolder's alignment is unknown? This stinks to high heaven. I can think of a couple of scenarios right off the top of my head that fit this situation. 1) BG is town and trusts Nolder, but Nolder is scum who now wants to find out who BG trusts enough to send out his role. By having these people PM him, he can then start working behind the scenes to lead lynches where he wants them because these people will be less suspicious of him. 2) Nolder and BG are both scum. In this scenario, Nolder is being used to lend some credibility to the role claim with the same effect as scenario 1. People trust both Nolder and BG more than they would the other players and can then be influenced to vote for another townie instead of a scum member. All in all, I see no way that Nolder's suggestion is a good idea for the town and I call scum.

UNVOTE

VOTE NOLDER

^^ this

this feels off to me. it feels forced, and screams of a false claim.

i totlaly agree that theres a good chance that there are vanillas in this game of both alignments, so it's not the claim that pings me. it's more of the way it's worded and the feelign it gives off. that and the emo melt down after just feel forced.

i'm only ify on voting Basel because Mynd is pushing the lynch so hard and my gut is screaming not to trust Mynd in this game at all.

first off, Gambit is the bestest x-men EVER!!!!! he's also got the best powers and is the best fighter of the bunch. if it wasn't for the ragin cajun, Magneto would have PWNd all of them

second, yeha, spins a STAFF made of antimaitum!!! one of the few weapons that could stand against Logans claws  and yeah, tosses cards, using KENITIC ENERGY!!!! which can explode upon command and slice throug a buildings foundation.

it's okay though Ishy, we all know your a closet Gambit fan boy *pats Ishy on the back*

i'm leaning towards Jester personally

I honestly think DM mafia needs a bit of redefining

there is something between "basic learning game" and "epic game with experimental concepts/roles - balance not guaranteed!"

Posted

man I'm not even going to respond to that mess Red

I provided a case on you and have expanded on it since then

if you don't like it that's just tough I guess

I don't even understand where the Red/Nolder case is going now.

For one, Mynd having an unorthodox power for a basic game might make sense. Just throwing that out there. I don't believe he would be jester though; don't jesters typically not mention anything when they're fairly close to being lynched? Unless he's decided to be a town-sided jester or something.

I seriously cannot decide whether I'm getting a mafia or town vibe from Red. There's a difference between an overly defensive scum and a flustered townie, so I don't know.

Forced? Yes. False claim? No. If you were town, and facing a lynch, wouldn't you want to do whatever you could to save your own skin? I know this may sound like WIFOM*, but I'm not coming up with any good ways to convince anyone that I'm not scum. If I had some kind of in-game powers, as opposed to mutant powers I mean, I would actually want to keep that quiet. While claiming cop or doc may save my skin today, it would put a sure target on my back at night. And also deprive the town of a useful role, not that it matters to a dead person. So fine, it's just something I thought might potentially be helpful to my case by coming right out and saying that I am vanilla town. It felt like my only viable option at the time, so I would call that forced. It's not like I'm going to blow up a whole planet or anything with some kind of power. (For one thing, I don't have that large a special effects budget.)

Now a few words as to my own vote. I've thought a bit about this. BG has been more active the last couple of days in the thread, and I've come to the conclusion that my original logic no longer really applies. Mynd, as Red noted, is pushing my lynching a bit harder than you would expect for town. He might even seem a little overeager. One thing I've picked up during this thread that I didn't know before is that pushing a lynch on someone too hard is usually considered a scum tell. I think Mynd's argument for me would qualify.

Unvote. Vote Mynd

*I think this would be a correct usage of the term. I'm not sure, though.

**Just so you all know, if you kill me, anyone who votes me is gonna have my ghost haunting them for the rest of their lives.
