bigWalt
Personally I prefer technology, anybody can wield tech, but only a few can wield the source. Technology is the great equalizer. That is particularly why I enjoy seeing Matt develop the cannons, I am looking forward to the introduction of small arms.
Din
You spelled 'source' incorrectly twice. Also there are a pair of quotes that fit here that you really should be aware of: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology. My spell Checker has failed me once again. I choose tech because it works for anybody unlike the source, which is limited to a bunch of zealots who have forgotten the original reason why the Aes Sedai were formed, which was to serve those who can not access it, not to mention the those who are on the dark side using the power. Not really an equalizer. there are always those who have limited access to technology (poor people and poor countries etc...) and they suffer for it. And Like Din quoted, the two can become quite alike. And you don't need to go all that back to the past for that. certainly, an iPhone would be a thing of magic even 80 years ago (I'm just trying to point -- please don't go into the lack of a cellular network in the past). The AOL channeling "science" was so great that they made the use of channeling (not directly touching the Source) available to the masses through artifacts of power -- creating their own equalizers. gloweye
Power FTW always... when working on tech/sience, nobody feels what they are doing. but to do something with threads originating from your very body, guided by your very mind, thats real work! Never
Channeling. Technology is just as arbitrarily accessible as the One Power, and the Power is way cooler. Although the lack of porn and gaming might be a horrible prospect, the ability to throw rocks at people who have no idea who's doing it more than make up for the entertainment lost it the internet. Ferdawoon
As long as there is a basic level of tech. Heating for my house so I dont have to freeze in the winter, running water, plumbing etc. When you think about it, tech today without the use of electrical Power is kinda pointless as well. We have power outlets everywhere to power our machines just as the AoL had those Standing Weaves that allowed people to use Ter'Angreal that required the user to channel to use them. If you pull the plug on your TV or computer, it is just a heap of junk, just as if you have a ter'angreal and cannot channel. "Of course, the making of ter'angreal was strictly limited to the Aes Sedai. Note, however, that things that allowed non-channelers to use ter'angreal, the "standing weaves", have long since dissipated, so use of the Portal Stones by normal individuals may have occured." http://wot.wikia.com/wiki/Aes_Sedai_(Age_of_Legends) Just as there are Ter'angreal that don't require the user to channel, there are machines that don't require you to plug it into the electrical power grid (well, batteries need to be recharged, but you get the idea). Not to mention, today's tec is not available to everyone. Just take the joke about programming your old VCR back before recordable harddrives etc. Some people just dont understand machines while someone else can just take a look at a new piece of machinery and see right away how it is ment to be used. I would say Channeling > Tech, as long as I have a basic level of tech to not have to live a medieval life.

Which, seeing as the damages Nynaeve got while inside it, you could get some wierd problems.. Could you get pregnant by someone you meet in there? :o

Quite the opposite, Mat's dragons make me sad...it's the beginning of the end. Quicker, easier ways for more men to kill more men more efficiently. Etc etc... Where are their 3 oaths? Yes that was the past, and it was great! All of the JoCars and JoWings are gone perhaps never to return. I look forward to the combination of engineering and the power, just think of using a weave tied off to spin a turbine!

Quicker, easier ways for more men to kill more men more efficiently. Etc etc... Yes, like those primitive tribes who had a stylized form of warfare and a battle might result in one or just a few fatalities, then one side trades for some AK 47s then the death count suddenly gets out of all proportion. It is very sad, like war meets the assembly line... The only way to win is to not play the game, but war is not going out fashion so you might as well play to win. In this war if the Dark side wins then the side of the light will likely be out of the game for an age at least. Killing is more efficient with the Dragons, but the age of legends has stories of the power being just as efficient(if not more so) in being a weapon of mass destruction, hell Rand made a very nice example of this. bigWalt
I see the Majority went with the source over technology, at least one person took my side in siding with tech but that person declined to join the discussion on the topic(Probably after seeing how poorly I was doing). I worded my Poll poorly, what I was thinking of was along the lines of one morning you wake up in Rand land and after walking around in a daze over not knowing where you are but in time you realize that this is Rand land, if you survive long enough to come to that conclusion that is. The odds are vastly against you even being able to learn to touch the source, then would you opt for the technology which you can wield? Currently in the poll there 16 individuals who opted for the source over tech, I wonder if they realize the odds are vastly against being able to channel. Their beliefs in the source may be along the lines of those who are hypnotically regressed into past lives and many of the individuals were once some form of royalty, very few recall lives of serfdom or outright slavery. Nicook5
Also, stupid people won't use Technology OR the Source as well as smarter people... And yeah, if thats really the question you wanted to ask, the poll doesn't really get that across =P

Graendal is basically a big ol' powerful pimp or dominatrix using the power for her own pleasures. And I think it was Lanfear who controlled the bird with the power? Or was viewing through the birds eyes. Something like that. No wait, that was Graendal doing that in ToM. Yeah. Sort of like a videogame. Anyway. Power.
