I guess Ishy vetting me as town is going to end up doing me in after all, only instead of painting a big target on my back for scum, it's apparently putting me under the spotlight for town to lynch :/

 

Incidentally, I could see why mafia would NK me easily since my death wouldn't reveal much, but I'm not so sure me being a vetted townie assures that cult will recruit me. There's already a fair amount looking for a lynch on me anyways, with cult revealed now it's really not likely I'll survive either a lynch or NK that long, so I don't see why cult would even recruit me at this point. If I was their recruiter I'd still be going after inactives and low profile players.

 

Just restating my argument for why I doubt cult would recruit me. I can see me getting NK'ed because of Ishy revealing me to be town, but I don't think cult would recruit a player that more than likely won't last that long.

Almost missed this, this post pings to the max. Why are you so sure the cult gets to recruit every night, Hoof? Why so quick to deflate a good move for town by pretending that offing a mafioso aint that beneficial to us? I would like to bag cult as well, since they can grow, but at the same time we don't have any indication that they can NK. Even though mafia wasn't successful at killing anyone last night, scumhunting should still be a priority for us.

 

For those reasons, and because he's so keen on offing me (using an easy cover argument as a potential front), and until we get an indication from Ishy that he found more scum/cult for us to lynch, I'll go ahead and Vote Blackhoof.

I am not SURE if you wish to be technical about it, but cult is almost always allowed to recruit every night unless they are a cultafia (cult with an NK)

and they are fairly rare.

 

Forgive me, but are you saying that since cult cannot NK, they are not such a threat? There are 2 mafia left if Sakaeas numbers from earlier are correct, and 4-5 cult. That means that the cult are relatively close to victory compared to the mafia. You are pinging badly now des, trying to downplay the threat the cult poses.

 

you were a good recruitment back then because you were confirmed. Simple as that. You bring up a good point that you were theoretically doomed by the mafia at that point, but strangely you STILL havent been NK'd.

I'm not trying to downplay the dangers of a cult whatsoever, I'm simply pointing out how positive you were that cult would recruit someone tonight and how you were downplaying the effectiveness of our lynch yesterday. The wording of your post makes it seem like you weren't completely behind the move, or were trying to maybe redirect town focus to cult a little too much.

 

In games I've played in with cult, if their wasn't some dead giveaway that there was cult in the beginning, then the cult's recruiting ability was hampered somewhat. Most of the time it was that they couldn't start recruiting till a few days into the game, but we know that's not the case in this game since we revealed a townie turned cult very early on. So I don't think it's that unlikely that cult might have some type of limitation to their ability to recruit. We can assume the worst case scenario and proceed as if they can recruit every night until town victory is assured, but I don't think that lynching a scum can be counted as a bad move. And you're right that cult might be closer to victory than mafia, but one less mafia that can possibly take out other townies while we try finding the cultmaster will still help us to achieve town victory in the end

I have the sneaking suspicion (intuition really) that the cultmaster is an active, regular contributer. They probably seem pretty pro town and likely less active the first couple of days to go under mafias radar. Then again, my intution isnt always on the money...

Just FYI, folks, but I might be scarce the next few days or so. I'm feeling really really sick, with nausea, exhaustion, runny nose and coughing up phlegm, sinus pain, and just general misery. And this week at my job is our "Grand Re-Opening" after the months of remodeling we've been doing, so absolutely no call-ins are allowed. If I call in, I'll be temporarily suspended, which doesn't sound so bad to me at the moment, but I'm not sure I want to deal with that. So, extra-stressful workweek, plus being sick, means I may not have much energy for mafia until I'm feeling a bit better.

 

I'll be keeping up, hopefully, but don't be alarmed if I lay low on the posting for now. I just really want to die IRL, I feel that bad, so my priorities are focused on getting better.

Also makes me think that the real vig or the remaining mafia must be recently inactive.
