You don't have to explain sarcasm to me, seriously.

 

I've played in one game EVER where we could divulge the name of our characters. So whether its in the rules or not, I dunno, I didn't check... but its usually a mod-kill if you do it. Which is why I have peppered this game with FOS when people have started discussing which character would be which role.

So the twist I decided I wanted to try was obviously the One Ring. Here are all the possibilities I had thought up:

 

1. Post pic of Ringwraith, person in possession of Ring is turned into a mafia goon.

 

2. Post pic of volcano, no consequence.

 

3. Post pic of Galadriel, owner of the Ring has night phase immunity, cannot be NK’d next night phase.

 

4. Post pic of Bilbo, owner of the Ring has double voter ability for one day phase.

 

5. Post pic of a cave troll, owner of the Ring can kill someone, vigilante style. Must be used same phase it is given.

 

6. Post pic of the Eye of Sauron, owner of the Ring can pick one person to view to determine alignment only.

 

7. Post pic of Elrond, owner of the Ring gets to choose one person to protect next night phase, doctor style.

 

8. Post pic of Arwen, owner of the Ring is paired with player [Aragorn] as Lovers for one Day phase. They don’t know who each other is if one is mafia. They get a QT for the day phase if both are town.

 

9. Post a pic of the Argonath, owner of the Ring loses their vote for the day phase.

 

10. Post a pic of a Balrog, owner of the Ring is a Bomb for the rest of the game and cannot own the Ring again.

 

11. Post a pic of an Ent, owner of the Ring becomes a one-time executioner. They choose when or if to use their ability. The executioner is able to kill a person who has acquired half the required lynch votes on a given day. Typically speaking, this ends the day and begins the night phase.

 

12. Post a pic of a sword and shield, owner of the Ring becomes a Bodygaurd for one night phase. They target one player, if that player would die, the Bodygaurd dies instead.

Ishy, Day 1 Ringbearer, NK Immune Night 1

Night 1, Ape viewed Amadine, Ishy protects Verbal, Leelou NK’s Ama, Mafia NK’s Leelou.

 

Ishy, Day 2 Ringbearer, is now a Bomb.

Night 2, Ishy self-protects. Ape views WWWWombat. WWWWombat NK’s Maw.

Ok, so I would really like some feedback from everyone, on the setup, and on the One Ring twist. I think it worked pretty well, but the game went so fast, I hadn't expected that. So, discussion time!

Is it ok to not be happy that this game ended so quickly? Dammit - I was having a great time and would have loved to have spent more time on the QT with Verb. It's been very useful.

Love you John - was totally Verb's idea that I target you with my inane wittering. He said if he did it, you would have sussed him our straight away. I look forward to our next encounter.

Haha... You didn't really scratch the surface of getting me into Ape mode, which is a good thing for my outlook on the game. I understand the strategy though, lots of people try to do it and have found success in getting me to bulldog everyone. Its exhausting for me though. So I was happy to steer away from it in this game.

 

Wombat was trying to do the same thing... which was partly why he was pinging me.

 

Anyway, good game everyone!

That was the luckiest game I've ever heard of, seriously. It was really fun to mod. What do you all think of the One Ring twist? It took me forever to come up with all those different effects. Some of them I would have been hesitant to actually use. Opinions on which were good, and which not so much?

I got it every night. Which says alot about the fact that I have no life I suppose. And I really enjoyed this one, this is the first one I ever survived until the end. Would have really liked to see some of those other ring effects in action, next time we shouldn't kill the scum so fast yeah? Great game Sakaea.

I don't actually ever get mad. I have been known to lose focus on scum hunting while playing "get the last word" but I have also thrived when playing the Ape style. Its all relative to how much I keep my eye on the ball.

 

I was hoping to get that ring too... just so I wouldn't have to be scared to hammer (like with Ledinna, the real reason I hesitated to hammer her was that she might have had the ring/bomb).

That was a fun and quick game. Yes, talk about lucky. Ledinna it was your first game. First games are hard and we did cut you some slack and kept you in the game an extra day.

 

Three mason teams. Wow, I see why you thought I was scum Verbal. Then again I am always pegged as scum. I think this is the first game where I wasn't almost lynched.

 

Sakaea the one ring was good. I think it would work a lot better in an advanced game with more players. I know the LotR theme is always popular.

Good game all. Regarding the setup, it was town heavy and mass reveal would have broken it, but neither or those came into play because we lost so quickly due to poor play and poor luck.

Not town heavy. You had a GF, and there was a SK. Mason teams were pretty cool for that, and the ring could have added to your numbers....or the mafia could have just gained the benefits as well.

Heh - now I know why Ithi wasn't able to rile you up in the slightest -- you were Cop! I was suspicious of you being scum to play so even like that, but I hadn't gotten to the point of thinking you a town power role. Good play on Wombat.
