Can remember numbers very well. I can remember someone's phone number far easier than their name or face. Pretty good with car number plates but the pesky letters at the start make it harder - here in NZ we switched from two letters at the start to three a few years ago and this has made it a little more difficult.

All in all though it's not a particularly useful talent - would prefer most of the ones on the list.

Hey that sounds like the perfect talent for the brown or white ajah!

You may come surveying with me anytime. It's a critical skill. I can read a map or plan in reverse, facing the other way from the mapped area, and know where things are behind me. Give it a go, it is not easy.

Funny you say that  I always imagined if I were Aes Sedai I would be white or brown, think I would pick brown though as I love books and reading so much.

That would be a very handy skill. I remember once driving through town and my then wife was reading the map and giving me directions. After awhile I realised something wasn't going right and I look over and she has the map upside down but unlike you she wasn't aware of it.

The remembering numbers thing was handy when I worked at a furniture factory. As I could remember the size of every component for every piece of furniture. But this became annoying when my fellow workers realised this and they would always come ask me for sizes rather than look it up on the computer. They even started calling me 'their walking computer' which while it was a compliment I didn't really appreciate it.

I voted music and math, but my math really isn't all that great. It's just that, when I worked at WH, we had to add all of our tickets by hand, and I was usually the only person that never used a calculator, and I also don't add right-to-left like most people. In my head I add left-to-right but only if there's a really long column; usually I don't even think of it that way; I just look at it and add it. Everyone I worked with thought this was just amazing, but we're talking about people who have to use a calculator to figure out what 10% is.

I can read upside-down. (The paper's upside-down, not me.. oh nvm) I've had a number of experiences when I'm being interviewed / talking to a doctor / etc and they have a note about me in front of them on the desk and I can read what's on it.

Hehe I voted rub mah belly, charming and other...

Abilitys

The "other" being that I'm a pretty quick learner of anything I've ever tried. Life is no challenge at all, but thats all right 'cos its hella fun.

Weaknesses - Peoples names =/ Its amazing with all the shit I remember from University courses I study and books I read that i still have the incomprehensible ability to forget my girlfriends name. (IT WAS ONLY ONCE I SWEAR) And by that i mean my Ex GF now muhahaha

And... Singing... I love to sing, i'm enthusiastic as hell... But believe me... You don't wanna subject your ears to the punishment =P

I can too. I have a friend who likes to do crosswords with me, and it annoys him to have to read upside-down when sitting across from me at a table, but I have to be the one with the pen because I'm quicker than he is at filling stuff in. And my handwriting is more legible.

Apparently you also have another rare talent - reading a doctor's writing.

Anyway, my many talents include: charming a woman, charming a man, reading upside down, sideways, in a mirror, writing backwards, quick learner in general, good memory, and more besides.

Fixed that for you. And I should probably add that to my list too, but if we're going to get outside the parameters of the poll options, then...

1. I have the amazing ability to be self-contradictory, in a way that I'm aware of, but still can't fix. Like...

2. I have both an awesome memory, and a horrible memory. The latter is because I don't pay enough attention to most things; I go through life with my mind always on something else no matter what I'm doing. I don't know how to be any other way. That's why I had to read WoT like 10 times before I could remember enough to have a really clear picture of what actually happened, and it's also why I don't have a problem with RJ's massive descriptions and whatnot, because I am a skim-reader. If it bores me, I skip it.

3. I am both introverted and extroverted. The extrovert bit is probably obvious to most of you but maybe not the introvert bit. That's more of a Real Life thing; I've been living in my college town for 4 years now and I don't have any friends here really. A few acquaintances, people whom I can only handle so much of and the feeling is probably mutual. My favorite of them is the resident professional-quality pianist, who oddly seems to respect me as a musician more than anyone else at the school despite the fact that I can't really play the piano (he says I lack skill, but I have talent, which is exactly my estimation, so we get along). But he is even crazier than me - he's almost Felix-crazy - and even more introverted. And more of a snob. If that can be believed. So what does it say about me that he is my favorite acquaintance?

4. The math thing. I am good at it, but I suck at it. It intimidates me. Because of 2 ^^ I often make careless errors, and the meticulousness which is required in order to actually be good at math overwhelms me because it is not really all that interesting to be meticulous with numbers. The concepts are interesting to me (assuming they are explained in a way that I can understand), but the amount of attention that is required annoys me to no end. This extends into the sciences, with the exception of music theory, which comes more naturally to me. I can still make careless errors there, but it is not quite as tedious to me to make an effort to be meticulous. I just took college algebra last year after 14 years of no math classes, and I made a C with almost zero effort and poor attendance. In 8th grade, my algebra teacher made a big deal about me being the smartest person in the class, and he gave me an A even though my careless errors had earned a B (maybe he curved the whole class). That was probably the only math class I ever enjoyed; it was like puzzle-solving. I dig that (which is why I made perfect scores on all my logic exams that consisted of actual formal problems - and the double-checking is not even really necessary there because of the way one thing leads to another; it makes perfect sense to me).

5. I am a really good writer, and a really horrible writer. In this case, it's probably more a matter of degree than anything else, and it also of course depends on how much effort I put in. I think I am good at dramatic writing when I put my mind to it, but usually in a very non-fiction way. Like, I can make a passionate argument when I'm of a mind to do it. But I think that argumentative writing is my strength. That aside, my writing tends to be a bit overdramatic sometimes, and it's definitely low-brow. I never paid much attention in grammar lessons, and I'm only good at it because of 2 ^^^ again. I don't know if I could ever refine my writing well enough to become an academic writer; part of me thinks I could do it even now, but looking back on some of the papers I was proud of, even they are low-brow. My writing was complimented by all of my professors, and even showcased a few times, but I think that they are just used to reading utter crap.

6. Back to 3 ^^^ I am both good at music and horrible at it. I mean, I'm really horrible at playing piano. No one in the music school really takes me seriously, and with good reason. If I have something to play which I can handle technically, then I can play it better than anyone else, but that's so rare because I'm always working on stuff that is way too difficult for me, just because the technical problems fascinate me. And they only fascinate me in the music of Bach and Chopin, not only because their music is the most moving to me emotionally but because they understood keyboard technique better than any other composers did, even Liszt who was able to make the piano do pretty much anything, and as a consequence didn't always write in a way that really complimented the nature of the instrument (and his music is uninteresting to me in other ways). So I am considered very limited, even by my teacher who is very frustrated with the fact that I am apathetic about Beethoven, who is her hero. I don't like Beethoven because his writing is always very awkward to me; I already suck at playing piano, and I don't need him to make it worse. Much of Chopin's stuff is considered more difficult than Beethoven's sonatas, but to me, anything by Chopin is easier because it feels more natural. Bach is the same; his technique is more limited than Chopin's but the fingering problems in Bach are like logic puzzles; there's always a way to do it that comes naturally to the independent strengths and weaknesses of each individual finger.

I could go on, but I'll stop there.

i can spot typos on polls ok. :)

tell me where i'll fix it lol

they might just be jokes i don't get. i can pat my head while rubbing my tummy, and i can find four leaf clovers, though they're probably oxalis. but i can't do those similar things listed on the poll. i miss the point of things alot, so it's probably me, sorry.

re talents, i can communicate with animals, especially domesticated ones, much better than with humans. pets find me very easy to train. chipmunks stop me to demand food and chitter with me instead of running away. not sure if that's a talent or a personality disorder. i guess both.

I have no idea how this has lasted so long without the mods comming in, but Ill have a go.

I am good at hiding emotions sorta like AS. I cant count how many times I have told jokes and people think I am serious. I have learned to control myself through my anxiety disorder. I could be totally freaking out in my head but seem perfectly calm.

My imagination is supurb. I can write/ think up some pretty awesome stories off the top of my head. I like to think I am a decent writer, but my strength is the story development. Grammer and such, well, I say thats for other people to point out to me

I have a talent for History. Not particularly dates of wars or kings etc.. more like I can understand the motives and the reasons why events occured and how it happened, if that makes sense. I couldnt tell you any dates however.

I used to be good at sports. Not really spectacular, just in general I was good at whatever game. I suppose it was more of a co-ordination thing than actually good at the sport. Now, I am much to lazy to exercise.

I am told that I pick up guitar and piano quite easily, but Im good at neither, because I am too lazy and dont really have the motivation. I was always crap at percussion though. I couldnt play the drums to save my life.

Alright, now we got the negatives, as we all do.

As you may have noticed, my biggest thing is I am much too lazy. Not as in couch potato, I dont just sit all day, more of a motivation thing. I could be good at stuff, but I just dont have the drive to practise etc...

Math. I am absolutely terrible at it. I can do the basics etc.. but give me anything harder than the volume of something and I am lost. Even the basics it takes me time to think about and remember.

Memory is pretty bad in most things. Its likely because I just dont care enough to remember it, but still, I always hated having to remember dates or equations in exams. I could manage concepts and ideologies etc, but never specific numbers or words etc.

There are certainly many other areas I am both good and bad in, but they are the major ones in any case.

Oh, I suppose I should add one last thing. I am excellent at making friends etc... I wouldnt call it charming, it sounds to arrogant, I just think I can be persuasive or whatever. But at the same time, i can be very cold, I wouldnt say unfriendly and never actually rude, but just not approachable. It depends what mood I am in and who the person is.

except for possibly being in the wrong forum, i don't see why mods would object to anything here. getting to know you, getting to know all about you. . . it's good for us. we're not all well socialized.
