  1. I understand that AMoL will be the last book...but will it REALLY be the LAST book? Theres a lot of loose ends... theres a lot of history / background / culture splashed throughout the book. If they wanted to, they could make this a 'main series' like the dragonlance with a whole bunch of offshoots and side histories. Hell if I was the author thats what I'd do. But then again, I'm just a lowly peon what do I know
  2. You reminded me of, and led me to quote Alphaville, Forever Young; Rereading some posts..to answer this one though? Hell yah I'd love to be young forever. I've already lost quite a few love ones. I expect to lose more before I avoid kicking the bucker. I say gimme it now! lol.
  3. I voted Nynaeve. When I was younger I had a bad habit of not controlling my temper too. I tended to 'blow up' at lost of ridiculous things. Like her, though, I matured. I still blow up, I just channel it into more productive outlets lol. Her ongoing love problems with Lan makes her more real than Rands harem that like him 'just because'. And not NEAR as dull/dry as Faile's attempt at controlling and using Perrin. I actually have a suspicion that Faile might even be a darkfriend, something Nynaeve definitely is not. Just my thoughts
  4. Its quite simple. The spiderwork of the light vs dark in rands brain will finally cause him to succumb to madness. He'll see light everywhere he goes, and in his insanity plunge the world into darkness eternal as he breaks the seal. Nynaeve will see Land die, go crazy, and pull too much of the one power down on herself right there in Tarwin's Gap. The ensuing aftermath of this will cause a massive growth spurt in the blight, trees and critters mutate wildly, and run amuck, spreading throughout the Borderlands. The trollocs will finally decide to settle down and marry each other. Padain Fain will lick his dagger one too many times, get a cut on his tounge, and swell up the size of Mordeth. He'll then eat all the married trollocs. Padain Fain then turns mysteriously into the giant marshmellow man (from ghostbusters movie), and stomp through all the northern forts turning everything into white fluffy sugary treats. Perrin will use the hammer he just forged to smush padan fain into Smores, with a gooey chocolately center. All the problems with no food will then be solved for the rest of the world, though dentists find they had a boon in customers cuz of all the rotten teeth. Mat ends up swallowing his wolfhead medallion, so Tuon can't bond him. After all bonding is being a warder, something mat can't stand. Egwene gets stuffed into an oversized amyrlin chair and told to shut up finally. (And there was much rejoicing). The aiel sing their dirge as the world is finally plunged into darkness. Everyone takes up eating giant mushrooms that grew because of the newly darkened world, after most the smores are gone. Dentists fume because they start losing customers now, and turn to the dark side. The creator shakes his head in disgust, and takes up knitting instead of creating worlds. His new knitting becomes the pattern of the ages. It looks suspiciously like a giant quilt with smurfs on it. When everyone finds out the giant mushrooms were actually smurf huts, and the gooey crunchy center was smurfs, everyone turns to the dark side because after all, eating smurfs is evil and everyone has done it now. The End.
  5. Whatever you do don't think of an elephant named 'chartreuse'. Its a horribly secret name and if you say the ..um...colored elephants name you'll feel him stomping near you. Maybe feel a trumpet. So don't think of an elephant named...wait I can't say it. Did I mention it was Char-- um ..nevermind. I think the element of 'don't ever think of this word' will cause it to live on in infamy for thousands of cycles lol. Cuz every idiot's probably gonna say it at least once. However, once the elephant stomps on your foot you sure will remember NOT to say the name.
  6. I would be a wise one. Not only can they channel, but they're not limited by the 3 oaths like Aes Sedai. Not to mention they're not despised by everyone like the aes sedai either! Maybe a wise one trained to the weaves of the tower, have the best of both worlds... Not sure how I'd do running around the waste though lol. Probably die horribly.
  7. Come to think of it...I bet the dark ones power can be used there. Consider when Rand sauntered into the white tower, and it is assumed that even if they blocked his use of saidan he could still access the dark ones power. I think the DO power is something separate than the use of saidar/saidan, which should substantiate (MAYBE) my previous theory.
  8. I'd say the exact same thing if an Aes Sedai brought a Ter'Angreal into a stedding. Absolutely nothing. Though generally working the power wouldn't work, that doesn't stop them from being a simple object. THOUGH one might argue that keeping the seals in the stedding might prevent the dark ones power from corrupting or breaking them...that is, of course, assuming that the TRUE power can't be used in steddings (something I don't think that has been established or negated...maybe Rand should try).
  9. Well i voted a saidar user, though I imagine anyone with the 'talent' could do it. And I believe it would be a 'talent' like dreaming, or making terangreal, or what not. Not just anyone can do it, they have to be uniquely skilled. I think if it were to happen it would happen during the time for the last battle. Just my opinions
  10. The Pattern makes someone a ta'veren to help fix the Pattern and they remain ta'veren just as long as they are required in that role. It would be very strange indeed if their taver'en natures helped to deliver Rand, Mat and Perrin to the LB like a taxi and then just left them there to sink and swim as they will. The Pattern is trying to prevent its own destruction and it will keep them ta'veren at least as long as they are needed for that particular task. There are also multiple indications in the books that this is what's going to happen. What happens after the LB is anybody's guess. Some or any of them might stop being ta'veren. Being ta'veren is not necessarily for life - it only lasts as long as the Pattern needs it. I would guess that at least Mat will remain ta'veren as RJ planned a sequel about him. Rand might stop being one. His part will certainly be done after the LB is over. From what I understand the pattern uses them until its 'done' with them. Whether they die or not isn't the point... though I think it'd be admittedly hard to accomplish what the pattern wants dead. And once its done with you you live on your merry lives, though from what I saw this was generally accomplished by the ta'veren dying.
  11. My moment was when Egwene was freed from the leash. What a horrible thing.
  12. Oh man, I love the cult of skaro lol. Too bad its taken ^^ I also love Dr. Who, awesome sci-fi. Scary ageing me like this but....I saw the ORIGINAL dr. who in black & white. Old looking dude too. Wow that was a long time ago.
  13. Nah thats taken, its called the 'southern baptist convention'.
  14. And the one power was invented by some evil dudes named Thomas Edison and Nicola Tesla. They were influenced by the dark one himself! Its tainted! Shayol Ghul was this big white looking building where the dark ones representative sat in a place abbreviated D.C. for Death of the Commmon man. Just a suspicion mind you, after all I live in the age of madness, not the age of legends.
  15. So who thinks that we haven't seen the last of the little red witch, the usurper, the prognosticator, the bringer of chaos ELAIDA? I have a feeling we'll see her again in some sort of climatic role in the end. ALSO Red Ajaha? Prevent the breaking? What will their new purpose be now that saidan is cleansed. Lets give them something to do other than hate men and find new pillow 'friends' lol.
  16. You know I thought about the 'rent by fire and blood' prediction. I'd say that the black tower as an entity, not necessarily a physical location is already experiencing this AEB (as evidenced by) the rift and killings between Mazrim and Logain. And I think it'll come to a climax with one or both dieing. As far as aes sedai walking in the tower...well they're already done that so no biggy. That little fortelling I feel was horribly misunderstood by Elaida. Especially since she felt SHE was the one to bring it to be. Which will bring up my next topic lol.
  17. Nothing is worse than whitecloaks imho. I feel they're worse than the forsaken. At least until Galad became their leader. Kinda like the dad that goes to church, shouts amen, and goes home & beats his wife & molests his kids. Why? The whitecloaks are one of the surviving establishments which serve as a bulwark to fight against the Shadow. They also were among the few to free themselves of the yokels of manipulation often thrust out onto the world by channeling consortiums such as the WT. Lol touche... Spoken suspiciously like something a whitecloak spy would say in farmers clothing To each their own though hehe
  18. I do like the name of that one... I'll think on it.
  19. D&D? If so what edition? There are other pnp rpgs than D&D you know... :p Doesnt negate the question though does it? I was asking if he played the one I am most familiar with out of interest. I'm a girl thanks for noticing lol. Anyways, its not exactly AD&D more a 20sided dice rpg based 'loosely' off of AD&D (2nd ed) and shadowrun enveironment. I've played OLD school D&D, then ad&d 2nd ed, then 3rd ed, then 3.5. Haven't played the latest yet. Also i've played shadowrun, star wars, and some others that I'm not recalling at the moment lol. Yes I'm a major nerd Also I play online MMORPG's, from the start played dransik, eq1, eq2, UO original, WoW, horizons, new horizons, and a bunch of others that once again I forget. In reality though these aren't my passion. My true passion is real life and instituting changes as I imagine them. One reason I love studying microbiology, nursing, computer science, and the occult. Yah i know i'm wierd, but then again so what is 'normal' anyways.
  20. Nothing is worse than whitecloaks imho. I feel they're worse than the forsaken. At least until Galad became their leader. Kinda like the dad that goes to church, shouts amen, and goes home & beats his wife & molests his kids.
  21. Bastion of the firm hand...gee..you wouldn't know the first thing that popped into my head on that one lol. Actually... when I mean 'sorta based on the wheel of time'.. You guys are hitting it pretty good. A 'cult' dedicated to preserving the world after the inevitable breaking. You know...since most church groups seem to be paranoid and fixated on the worlds end, why not try to set up one for what happens AFTER this supposed event. Of course if it all ends in a huge fireball..well my plan would be a huge spaceship. However, barring the advent of interstellar technology, a magical gateway would suffice in a fantasy world lol. I've actually thought about forming a npo based on this too But *that* endeavor will be slightly more complicated than doing a rpg with this at its theme. Oh and we already have the children of the light...it was the 16th century roman catholic church. Inevitably I think the actual white tower...put into a modern fantasy (think shadowrun & ad&d mix) context..would be ultimately like a non-profit organization with a few oddities. For one, they are known to dabble in politics. I believe thats against the IRS npo standards (in the USA). Another, the tower seems to 'loan' money to the Aes Sedai, as was observed by Moraine doaling out cash when needed (which I always wonder how much money and finances DOES the white tower have access to??). Reason why I say its like a non-for-profit is there is a bookkeeper (the keeper), the director (amyrlin), and a board of directors (sitters). Internal audits are done by the sitters, though its a bit sketchy what their board rules are. These seem to be based mostly on research, acquisition of political power, and maintaining structures / training. I would imagine the finances come from the individual members support (Aes Sedai that come from richer families), and taxes garnished from Tar Valon populace, and gifts from political people like kings/kingdoms..in effect a city-state government much like the vatican in Rome. Their mission purpose? Well, besides fighting for the light (an admittedly limited function of theirs), I would say mostly it is to increase the members by seeking out potential candidates. What else would you include? Hopefully you can see where I'm headed with this lol.
  22. OK I'm dm'ing some real life rpg's here... and coming up with a name of a 'church' (cult, whatever) loosely based off the wheel of time series. The key is it has to fit into a modern setting and 'avoid' local prejudice, hatred, etc.. The only name I came up with so far is 'church of the light of creation' or 'Tower of the sisters fellowship' or somesuch Help me come up with some interesting names.
  23. I'm quite interested in your predictions for the future of the black and the white tower. Will there be a 'gray' tower with combined male & female again? Will the white tower open its doors to the male channelers now that saidan has been cleansed? Will the black tower be destroyed? Will there be a Tamyrylin and Amyrylin (spelling police help lol). Love to know your thoughts
  24. Actually..I kinda think thats an interesting interpretation of the finn's saying. :) Who knows...I don't
  25. Been here about a week, reading up and posting some responses. Just curious... I pretty much know what a roleplay group is - been in old pen & paper D&D since the beginning.. Not sure what all the social side stands for, would love more enlightenment
