So who does everyone think will die at the end of the book, i dont know if anyone has asked this question.

My thoughts is that lan and nyneave will die, thom and moraine will die, i also believe cadsuane and verin will die. I have a feeling one of the main guys will die, either rand, perrin or mat. My opinion it will be perrin. Thats all i got, now your turns.

oh my, i hope a good bit our our main players in the story die... it will be sad, and piss me off because of how i have come to love them (or hate them) over the course of thousands and thousands of pages... but a happy ending would just be anti-climactic to me at this point. I mean yes i want the light to win just like most people... but war and battle is bloody and this is the Battle of all battles ya know what i'm sayin? :P

too many survivors would truly be an anti-climax to this story. We need a BIG bodycount after this one.

Who I would like to see die:

Lan. He can finnaly put down his mountain.

Rand. Seriously. Anything else is just stupid.

Moiraine. A proper death this time.

Almost all of the white tower & black tower.

(excluding Egwene & Logain, who starts a new era for Aes Sedai, together. (no.. not like THAT..)

Frodo. Oh.. No. That was another story.

Thom. Joining his beloved Moiraine.

Galad. Together with his whitecloaks & Lans borderlenders. In the midst of the darkness with all the Shadowspawn. They die a glorious death that will make for many gleeman stories.

Well. thats the most important ones. The ones that SHOULD die...

Guest Majsju

As long as Lan and Rand dies, I don't put too much weight on who the others biting the dust will be, as long as it's a decently large bunch of them.

Unfortunatly Egwene's dreams hints at a future for her and gawyn, otherwise I would have loved to see gawyn die in a most humiliating way. Like stabbing himself by accident or something like that. man, that little brat buggers me no end.

LOL Majsju, agree with you about Gawyn, just believing because it's hinted at and then not even going to help Elayne.

Deaths:

Anan (after she's been healed), Tam, Wil Al'seen, either Avienda or Min or both, Elaida (guess everyone is hoping that), Cadsuane, Dyelin (it's already in her name), Rand although he will survive too in some weird way, just wont be taveren anymore, Thom and Moirane, Selucia, Elyas and lots of aiel.

Probably totally missed it, but well that's why I still want to read the final 2 books.

I really hope Elaida doesnt die. I want to see her humiliated. Properly. I want her to be stilled, or sendt in exile doing penance or someth. Death is too easy escape for Elaida.

If she gets even close to be at the last battle, its either with an adam around her neck, or in a sircle sertainly not guided by her. (but I guess she could find a way to mess up even that..)

Don't kill my Gawyn!!!!! I love Gawyn...I agree that the fact that he hasn't been in ANY recent books helping Elayne or anything is dumb, but who knows what he's up to!? He probably doesn't have a choice. Sweet, hot Gawyn that he is. Ok, I'll stop now.

Um Rand will probably die, but survive in some weird way, lots of random Two Rivers people will die, maybe Julian or Egeanin (or whatever her new name is) or something. Based on the rest of the books, I don't see many main people dying. Since Hopper, the only people who died I cared about was Asmodean (and he was bad) and Aram (and I marginally cared about him).

You never know, though, I guess RJ could change and kill a lot of people...hmm...

Who I want to die: Rand, Min (don't hate me everyone), Thom, Bain, the high ranking sea folk, some Aiel wise ones

Who I definitely don't want to die: Mat, Egwene, Gawyn, Nynaeve, Elayne, Moiraine (hello, it's taken her HOW long to be saved--and then to come back and just die...how depressing haha), Hopper ... (oops too late), and I guess Lan, Perrin and Faile, even though those three aren't a huge deal for me...

I think she ruined Perrin, at least insofar as I can't stand him when he's around her. I didn't enjoy their courtship, other than when he spanked her, and I didn't enjoy the whole kidnapping thing. It took me away from characters I like better and would rather have read about than her, so my reasons are all selfish.

I haven't liked her from the start, which in a way, is cool, because it's like that in real life. Sometimes, you meet someone whom you don't like right off the bat for no apparent reason, and having this experience in the books lends it a sense of realism. Sometimes, you "meet" someone like Elaida, and it's clear that the author wants you to dislike the character. But with Faile, he brought in a character and presented her in something of a neutral fashion and just let each reader decide for themselves. You, for example, don't care much for her one way or the other, I don't like her, and I've read comments from others who do. That makes her a cool character in the sense that she produces "real" reactions from the readers, but I still want trollocs to eat her. Eat her like fish, in fact. Yup, eat your fish; that's what I say! :P

Robert Jordan hasn't show the willingness to kill anyone off this entire series.

Seriously. Name a major good guy/gal from the first 5 books who has died so far? Heck, you can't even count Moriane anymore either.

I find it hard to believe he would now. Maybe some Aiel like Sulin and MAYBE Cadsuane. MAYBE.

Besides that, RJ doesn't kill of his people. That's my one knock on him. Everyone ALWAYS makes it ouot of their trouble somehow.

Kill somebody off once and a while! Make us actually FEAR for the characters!

Well. Just because he has not killed anyone off, doesnt mean hes not gonna do it.

In fact, I think he has saved the killings for the last battle. At least I hope so.

We have to bear in mind that RJ has given us a major tool in keeping characters alive; healing! This has meant that quite a few of the characters have all had pretty major injuries but survived. If this hadn't been written into the series it would have been a bit more realistic if a few more main characters had died.

Blimey, when I've been re-reading the books again even I think I can heal cuts using the power. Getting too caught up in wot...

He should contract out AMoL to George R R Martin. Even the Creator would have to watch his back then.

 Just finished "A Feast For Crows" It's a wonder he has ANY main characters left at all, maybe RJ should have a chat with him ^__^

Well I think SOME main characters have to die. Unless they're all going to sit back during TG with a can of Bud and a Kit-Kat o_O

Note that there is no relationship between how much I like a character and whether or not I think they should die. Most of the ones I think should die are my favorites.

DEATH (I don't necessarly think they all will die but these are the most likely candidates):

MIN: Thought I love Min she has to die. Although Rand is destined to love three women I still think that Min is his one true love (his favorite of the three if you will). She is the only one who has been at Rand's side through it all and functionally acts as a girlfirend/wife. I could see her death acting as a device to get Rand good and pissed off before he faces the DO.

TAM AL'THOR: I'd like to see him and Rand meet up again and have a good heart to heart first but I think his death could serve a similar purpose as Min's in making Rand's battle with the DO personal.

NYNAEVE AL'MEARA: Throughout the series she has been deticated to protecting the other Emond's Feilders. Therefore, I could see her sacraficing her life to save one or more of them. Plus it would add another bit of tragedy to the already tragedy ridden life of Lan.

LAN: This guy just has tragedy writen all over him. Plus I don't think he gave Rand that lecture on "Sheathing the Sword" just to forshadow Ingtar's death. If Nynaeve lives I suspect he will leave here with child.

THOM MERRILIN: Having helped Rand to fulfill his destiny Thom will finally be able to come to terms with his failure to save his nephew, Owen. He will die but will be able to rest in peace (I know he is destined to marry Moraine, but I thing the marriage will be a short one).

GAWYN: He's a snot nosed little punk who has gotten too big for his britches. None the less, I think he will eventually come around to Rand's side and will ultimatly go down defending Elayne just as vowed to do so long ago.

MORAINE: I think she will be back to play a significant role in TG. However, she will ultimaltly die (again) because there will nothing left for her after TG. She will have fulfilled her plan to guide and prepare the Dragon Reborn for TG. Egwene will be there to lead the White Tower and one way or another she will have lost her Warder. Thus the best she can hope for is to become the Sitter for the Blue Ajah and that would be too anticlimatic a fate for her. Moraine needs to go out in a blaze of glory.

CHIAD OR BAIN: They are just too close for both of them to live. It could go either way but personally my money is on BAIN.

RAND: This is always a possiblity what with the Prophacy and all, though I could still see RJ wriggling his way out of killing off Rand.

THOSE WHO WONT DIE:

MAT: Because you just can't keep this guy down. He's died more times than any other character but always manages to come back. Also they will need him aroud to help with post TG relations with the Seanchan. Maybe he will finally bring those people to their senses.

PERRIN AND FAILE: There are many lords and ladies in Randland but very few nobles. Perrin and Faile are just the sort of honest leaders that are going to be needed in the post TG world. The Two Rivers can't just fall back into the fold of Andor. The blood of Mantherane is strong within the people, they were never meant to be small villagers and need to once again be part of a great nation. Who better to lead the new Mantherane into the 4th age than hometown boy Perrin (who I suspect is Aemaon reborn).

ELAYNE: Like I said, the post TG world will need good and honest leaders. She is destined to become the great Aes Sedai queen of Andor.

EGWENE: Another good and honest leader for the post TG world. Destined to become the greatest Amyrlin Seat of all time.

LOGAIN: The ultimate sucess story, goes from stilled false dragon to glorious head of the Black Tower who will lead the Asha'man trimphantly into the 4th age.

GALAD: He will reform the Childran of the Light and turn them into a respectable organization that truly serves the light.

LOIAL: His death would add tragedy to the story but it would just be way TOO tragic. Killing off Loial would be like kicking a puppy. Loial will live and write the story of "The Dragon Reborn."

CHIAD OR BAIN: The one that doesn't die will live (duh)

The only character guaranteed to die is Rand, and even that probably won't be permanent.

RJ has said the the he's had the last scene of the story in his mind since the begining, and Im pretty sure he said Nynaeve is in it. So unless she dies in the very end, she'll probably survive.

You can be sure that RJ's current exposure to his own mortality is going to effect his writing AMoL. Either morbidly or the opposite of morbidly

I want Rand to die even though i like him just so he can finally be at rest. I want a lot of people do die in it though. But I draw the line at Mat Loial. Mat because hes my favorite character. and I agree that if you killed Loial it would be like kicking a puppy. besides who else will write an accurate account of everything Rand and the rest went through.
